well well well nice to find you out here it's been a while I know but I'm happy you're with me and I hope all of you are doing okay but yeah thanks for asking I'm doing pretty good in this video we're just gonna have a fire box coffee we're going to look a little bit of at leather and also I want to talk to you about a few updates I have so don't go away [Music]
hoo-ee
well we have been having an unusual humid and hot summer and well I'm pretty sure it's like that in a lot of places around this planet I haven't seen it this hot and humid I mean usually we'd have in our normal summers you know the hot and muggy like the 30 between 30 and 40 degrees like let's say average 100 we'd have that for maybe two weeks in the whole summer but right now it's like it's almost all summer we've had one beautiful day couple all right say not quite a week ago you know 24 degrees Celsius
you know 7075 maybe in the Fahrenheit that's our normal summer but right now it's like you know 80 100 percent humidity 30 Celsius it's kind of hot so when it's hot like that it's a little tough to do stuff out here I'm talking about videos so that's why you haven't seen me for a while but right now it's still early if it be in the afternoon I mean no I'm not I'm not the type of muggy guy I mean I can endure it if I have to but if I don't have to I won't well yeah I got a few things I want to show and just have some quality a couple of hours time out here of course I'll have some quality time with you
and some quality time with me and my Lord and Savior yeah I did say it Jesus never you say the name Jesus everybody goes crazy but I say it no sound here nothing to distract me I'm speaking from with him and him speaking to me some quality time anyway what I'm gonna do right now is I wanted to show you a leather belt I've had that since last year it's made by Leonard leather this gentleman is from Ontario I think he lives off grid or close to it and I think it's the right time to show it even though it's still summer the fall is coming pretty quick and the winter months it's a utility belt you know to go over your anorak or jackets or whatever it is you wear I had something pretty cool and I think it's time for me to show you that so I think we'll do that first
and then I know crazy getting a fire going
of course we'll use the fire box I just need a very small fire for a coffee Coffee is always good even when it's hot but right now I can't complain because I'm in the shade and as you can see I'm taking my time and I'm talking maybe a lot that's what I feel like doing you know sometimes we make videos and lots of scenes here scene open up the bag and seem that and it's all fun but right now I don't feel like it I hope it's okay with you guys alright let's take a look at that leather belt I'm gonna talk quickly through it now obviously it's a long belt so if I'd have a camera lens that's very wide I could show the whole thing in one shot but that's not the case so I'll just you know show it like it is now this is a he calls it his utility bushcraft belt I believe as I said before it's a belt that goes over winter jackets or you know anoraks hoodies whatever it is you wear during the fall in winter to have access to your quick stuff that you need you know and you know how jackets are always in the way in the winter if you have to take unzip your jacket each time and we need your knife or your pouch or whatever it is you need well utility and it's an awesome piece of work now as you can see it's much wider than your typical belts I don't know it's maybe two inches give or take and the reason for that well it keeps everything nice and tight around your waist so it doesn't go all over the place and it's comfortable too it's got a nice thickness now I'm no expert in ounces but it's over 1/8 thick you know 1/8 of an inch thick I know you don't talk like that in leather terms but hey but it's the perfect thickness some belts some utility belts are way too thick and yes it's stiffer but the problem with me even if it's over a jacket every time I bend down this tends to go into my ribs or sides even with a you know a jacket so I don't like that but this one is you know the thickness is well thought of now this one is you know like a shaded brown type of thing now it's a to hold belt show you the hardware here rolls in which is awesome look at the stitching very neatly done and strong it's just it's an awesome belt what can I say now when you do get one of his belts it comes exactly like you see it so that's why I didn't put anything on it because I wanted you to see it like it is now I love the hardware that he put on it first of all you've got your d-ring here again nothing just coming oh you won't lose anything and you've got a swivel here
nice clamps okay here's this logo okay Leonard leather alright some nice stitching here too this here is a small game leather loop you know rabbits birds you can tie a different ways but that's what it's made for but obviously even though you don't hunt small game you can use this for anything hook up gloves even a pouch with a carabiner I mean you know use your imagination and something else I want to point out now I put everything close together like this so it's easier for me to film but you can slide this over this loop okay stretch just enough so you can put stuff on the other side of your body okay let me put it back top about it don't you love the sound of leather and goes crunch I know I'm crazy okay something I loved about this now I have nothing against snaps but snaps do on snap I have nothing against screws but screws do unscrew it's happened to me with both if you have screws what I'll tend to do is lock tight them because you know leather moves more you use it and if it's not locked tight boom lose the screws so that's that's happened to me now he's put rivets obviously so that's not coming off of there same for the two you know and it's not that the hardware is not too big and heavy which is a second thing I love about it something else I like this you know compared to do I have one here I don't think I do but you know the dog collar type chain ones that with the clip I like this better ok it's a swivel so nothing can tangle and stuff but I really like this it's what can I say it's not just solid ok but I find that it's easier to put and take off stuff out of it I mean you just it's not easy to undo to lose your stuff but what you do want to do it it's easy to just take it off look at the big space here it's quick ok so I just brought a few things I didn't bring any pouches or stuff just you know give you a look I really love this belt I mean it saves so much time in the winter you got all your nice tools close by and I have my knife I have we call fire steel an axe I've got something looped up here or you can even you know he can do anything if you rather carry an axe you can make this a little bigger you give him the size and you know carry an action ahead - excuse me so just to give you here's a nice piece of fat wood so let's say we'd put now this is just for demonstration purposes hook up some Oh fat wood here on this side and got this knife this one has snaps so we'll just hook her up I love this you know just swivel is very important and this really swivels it gets out of the way every time and you know you need it grab one side anyway you guys get the idea and let's add something else here everybody likes fire steel so let's add a fire steel now again demonstration purposes you can put whatever it is you like to put just to show you so I've got tender knife and fire just on one built and of course this belt is pretty there's still tons of place on it so very useful strong well-made I give it a big 9 out of 10 for this utility belt all right so I couldn't demonstrate the belt because I don't have a jacket and it's too big if I don't have a jacket because it's made to go over jacket but hey there's another way you can use it it's big enough to go over your shoulder there are things oh they're right on this side fires to you nice fat wood if you need it or if you're not happy like that there I can leave it on this side okay cool I know we wouldn't wear it this way but I still had to find a way to show you this you know make a scene and show you this cool belt what can I say so anyway if you need any leather stuff now he doesn't just do this he makes leather sheath knife sheath of course for all the Moors that probably exists us you know some fallkniven if like the f1 I know he does it's already pre-made and any other knives you have just have to send it in he makes pouches oh and he makes beautiful and I mean beautiful rifle slings huh you know hunting is coming up you need a hunting sling he makes him there nice now I'm pushing a lot towards him because I like to push people towards you know small Canadian businesses these guys work really hard for their money and they're doing a great job and you know Leonard leather
is one of them so you know I'll put some pictures at the end of this video of his other works you know a few pictures but I'll especially put the lake to a store and I think he has a Facebook yeah he has a Facebook I'll put the links in the description of this video gosh I can't talk in the description of this video now that worked out so take a look at it one last time pretty cool and of course you can add some of these you know it's not it comes with this but you can add other hooks and loops and stuff it's whatever you carry lots of space all right it's time for coffee now fire box awesome kit now as you can see it's brand new yes well my very first fire box how can I explain this anyway one of my friends has it now so this is a very cool piece of equipment now you've got the ash pan here but I'm not gonna need it today I'm gonna have a very and I mean I do say a very small fire okay I'm gonna take these off build a fire I just want to show you where they go or what you can do with it anyway if you've never seen this before I've got well quite a few videos about it and there's lots of videos about about the firebox and I mean Steve the owner has awesome videos he knows how to use his box that's for sure and it's a very effective tool and I have to say that I love it and for a fire box or for a little stove this is a 10 out of 10 for sure because I can put my alcohols though you can do everything with this okay and it's really really I think it's much Rufus 20 gauge but a stainless steel that's really rugged it'll not war up on you and you can make you know even though your finished cooking and you need a fire bring this up you can put some sticks and make a nice real bonfire with this and hardly any effort you know to get wood firewood for this so you never tried this before it's really cool especially like like today it's so hot I don't need I just need the exact fire I need to boil not even boil to bring my my water warm enough for my coffee so let's do that [Music]
so all I need is mainframe here all I need is though right now four to five inch pieces no splitting involved just a little tiny fire and trust me I won't need that much two more pieces and that's it fuel-efficient few tweaks fire starter and that's it there you go last one I'm still in Frank well I am but not the saw but I guess I'm more important than the saw I hope maybe not okay yep that should do the trick few twigs that's it that's the firewood do twigs we're set no that's not that's what hard work and this kind of heat anyways you're doing want to add hardwood right I keep them fairly short because it's not the kind of firebox fire that I want to create coals and stuff so I want to be able to put my pot as soon as it starts to flame and not waste any Heat don't waste heat you don't waste fuel everybody's happy
we'll always think too much right that's okay
a little just a handful of twigs we're sit here see if I'm going to need yeah I'm gonna need them now I want everything to be ready because as I said I want right away to take the flame that I need and the heat so usually I would you know pack all this vertically the pieces like that have nice set of coals and you can cook and do everything just with those coals almost and of course you've got holes here at different heights where you can add and you can add on the sides I mean it's just an awesome an awesome stove okay so let me just throw out just like this okay put my twigs in just like that don't want any of them to be in the way now this is live live Wow no editing so if this doesn't work it doesn't work okay so I'm going to put you get out of the way closest to me put some water in here I don't need much just for coffee that's plenty perfect balance yep okay so we are going to make this very simple because I'm gonna play around with that wood so let's make one Oh
stick together here state you're in camera supposed to be perfect stay perfect
there
I should be good okay so just to help us out a little bit make it feel a little faster hopefully I'm gonna stick these in and we are going to cheat and use my primitive lighter just like these up and of course I don't want a huge fire because it's kind of dry so on you climb I am for me area go see fire I see fire so I'll just throw this in like this just add these like that oh did I just put it out oh look at this it's stuffing it thank God for holes ok now this won't certainly look too good on camera I put it out Oh bad boy this again this time don't put it out here there ain't no perfect okay so let's not waste any heat put this boy right away and wait patiently I have these two pieces here but I won't need them yep good airflow few twigs a couple of pieces of the bottom this will burn the hot enough to warm my water look can you hear it titanium folks nothing beats titanium for boiling water or bringing it hot you know already hear it so coffee will be there pretty soon that's almost hot enough it hasn't even been a minute maybe 50 seconds maybe a minute it's own reality a twig fire there's this much water not too much
I can hear it almost boiling can you hear that I think we can take a look if I can find a piece of stick here or am I gonna burn my hands oh yeah this thing is boiling done twig fire that's all I need
so yes I will use gloves because this is still hot
Wilson that's gonna be hot so don't eat them I'm just gonna let this burn down it's almost ashes and they got enough water to put it out just to be on the safe side
yeah perfect amount of water I'd say almost two inches and this is the latest spoon I did from one of my last videos remember I carved a spoon in the woods and I finished it at home it's not bad I mean sometimes I do stuff I really like and sometimes it comes out like hmm I'm not so sure but anyway it's a spoon it works well and that's what it is okay so my my god I burn myself hmm oh yes perfect it's perfect all right so this will be the conclusion of this video and it's starting to get hot whoo sorry for my complaining just want to take a minute talk about a few updates concerning videos and about not quite two weeks remember I told you I was leaving for seven days with Josie just Josie and I you know our camping trip there'll be different stuff I know if I'll film everything I know she wants to climb this pretty cool mountain so we'll be camping two days two to three days at the base of the mountain anyway and just you know we're just relaxing and after that we have we have four-day canoe trip on the saghini River so it'll be canoe camping some fishing just enjoying you know the wilderness out there first time I go there hopefully we'll have some nice weather
after that you know it's been a while since I've showed you any knives it's been quite a long time actually so I planned for the fall months coming I was willing to try and find three knife makers and show their stuff and I did find three there's one in Canada and two in the US and you're not gonna want to miss that these guys when you look at their work it looks like they've been doing knives for 20 years or so and it hasn't been that long like two three years maybe your take but when you look at their work it looks like they've been doing it for 40 years so I'm excited for that show their work and hopefully you'll encourage them to you know if you need a knife again it's small businesses they're just not just starting and like I said two three years but you know I'm trying to push small businesses but these guys what guys the work that these guys are doing is really amazing also what else you have planned oh I ordered a tent for one man tent it's two man but you know how that goes so I may I may or may not yeah maybe I'll do an overnight you know same time we'll check out the tent and do some Bush crafty things I suppose and the weather gets a little more decent I have other stuff but it's in the it's in the making I'm not sure but expect those anyway for the coming months all right this thing is dying down I'm gonna put it out perfectly it completely as I said it's dry we want to be again I apologize for not making any vids in the last I don't know three weeks maybe a month I'm not sure three weeks anyway
well it's quite busy we had well if you guys are new to my channel I'm an associate pastor okay and we have a work in Haiti we have a work with the natives the Cree up North Hudson Bay and in Quebec and each year we have what we call a maximum impact and we have groups from the States coming to help us out to evangelize and anyway it was to to really busy weeks and we had our missionaries come also from Haiti and spent a month with us so it was a really you know busy month let's say so anyway videos should start coming back on a more regular basis hopefully but for now that's it I hope you enjoyed this and again don't go away I'm gonna put a few pictures of Leonard leather his work of what he does and you know if you're in need of something encourage him give him a buzz he's nice meant to talk to and get yourself a belt sheath pouches whatever it is you need thanks for watching this is my confession of partners [Music]
