Underwater Knot Tying Challenge
Description
One of the many challenges we put before our forest monks at ReWildU. You must take a single breath, go underwater, retrieve your diving mask, clear it, then tie and dress three knots before returning to the surface. More advanced versions we do include 5 knots, retaining the dive mask without a strap (via suction), and performing this task in cold water conditions.

you probably know that here at reweld University we stress meditation mindfulness but it's one thing to meditate cross-legged in a peaceful woodland but we also want people to leave being able to retain that meditative mind state even under a high degree of stress one of our challenges is inspired by the Navy SEAL underwater knot-tying test we just change it up by starting with the mask off so first of all Garrett has to put the mask on and then clear it using a breathing technique when he's cleared the mask he will be able to see and then using that same breath we ask him to tie three knots those knots are a bowline a round turn plus two half hitches in the taut line hitch the trick is just staying home and relaxed when our fight-or-flight part of our - is going off our fine motor skills our ability to perform a task like tying a knot that kind of goes out the window so when people are underwater it's pretty stress inducing for most people and especially trying to do that mask clearing which can really send you into a panic especially if you get some water up your nose trying to do it all in one breath well it's a lot to try to do well we get to experience panic and then see that even there under water under stress we can bring ourselves back down into a relaxed state it empowers us it shows us that we do have command over our minds thought you might want to see Garrett success he has now moved on to even more advanced by the levels of this challenge than what you saw here including tying five knots in a row and retaining his mask without a strap remember when we challenge ourselves we grow we come to learn that we are much stronger than we've been led to believe consider becoming a patron on patreon and remember to believe in yourself you are powerful you are capable you are wise
