okay so today I'm going to show you a way where you can sell a tarp in the snow when there's no available trees now we're just going to pretend you know you're still surrounded by woods but there is a specific area where you want install your tarp for whatever reason but there's no trees close enough by to put it up so I'll give you a little tips and tricks on one way of doing it anyway so the first thing you want to do is to tap your area where you're going to put the tarp and maybe a little bit bigger so you're able to work a lot easier now we're keeping our backpacks on just because it's heavier so attached let's call the winter Dan so as you tap it down for a few minutes it'll harden up for you so instead of using steaks steaks is good new longer steaks now obviously this is not the best area for showing this demonstration because I got trees everywhere but still I want to show you this in case you didn't you end up with a perfect area but the trees are too far so first we're going to go chop down a couple of trees you want to go between three and four turns in diameter about and we're going to use that as our main anchors first tree right on the ground okay now what I just do just take a pair of cord and over here I'm just going to tie you simple I guess you'd call it the overhand knot or something just something very simple okay now you can do the same thing for your piece of wood but I what I like to do is just use clove hitch so you just make your circle make another circle if your Perigord is not too twisted bring the last one under okay run your hair and close together this is going to be here and the rest you can just put a clean somewhere along just show you a little bit what it should look like hold on a sec okay so see that's your clove hitch so what it should look like see the X well your main line goes under the X and this secures it as your tight tighten it the top one here so we'll do the same thing with the other end of the tarp you want to do it the whole width and secure it on that side to it make her in the snow now it's already filled in when I capped in it yup I'm just

cover it just let that settle in for 10 minutes as you go up and gather your other stuff come up and put a little bit more snow on it that's going to be very strong for you of course if I'd be staying here all night my piece of wood I'd put it in deeper like maybe I don't know four inches makes it a little stronger but just like this is going to be perfect okay so because I have a heavy tarp well I'd say it's not that heavy

it's a marpat tarp I know people will be asking I bought used on eBay couple years back it's not as heavy as a canvas but it's not as light as a nylon tarp so if I would have done the typical lean-to like two posts on both sides you know it's acting in the middle and if ever it did snow quite a bit you don't want that to happen so I'm going to use this tree here this is a post and I'm going to use it as an anchor or as a pulley you know to pull my tarp up at the same time this moves okay so I just want to secure it at the right height so it doesn't come down but at the same time I want to bring it down to another anchor point the same anchor that we use for the back so what you do is you bring it to the right height that would be pretty good for me and then you bring it down and you anchor it to your anchor at the bottom okay so this time just for the two sides just your typical anchor okay just your state that just you put it in deep as you can that's good enough strong enough I'm going to do the other side and we'll be done okay so quick and simple one corner there one tree in the bat in the front anchored at the top where I want it I don't want it too high okay anchor bear it's already set in so that's pretty very strong you know I think I rather that then stakes now use some stakes to make it easy just for the simple size but when the big winds come I think this will be a lot more solid and I got the same thing holding the back so if you're you are in an area where there is absolutely no anchors or trees close by for the length of your paracord well you can do this and of course there's so many more configurations you can make this a lot more simpler but I just thought I could show you this one so now what I'm going to do next just to give me a little bit more room I'm just going to anchor myself a little piece of stick just to push this little back in here and that's it we're done so far wood collecting far away the winter hardest thing what josy is doing just digging a little bit where we're going to sit just so it's perfect height so that's what's fun about the snow you can always readjust and one thing I forgot to mention this main post if you do it this way make sure it's far enough from your fire because you don't want this to catch on fire ok so we're going to be about three feet from the fire and the fire is about three feet from this pole need to split a few of these few more get it going any water there you go little bit better than the last time yeah that's true it was a fire starter in the family so as you can see because I want to be here a little longer I doubled my base okay and I'll keep fire from going in the snow deep it will take a little longer that's what I mean because that's what I want I'll be staying here a lot longer today Oh little tip double layer your bottom and if ever you want to stay a longer time like an overnight and stuff and there's a lot of snow and you can dig it up now you're going to have to get some green about six inches in diameter and double that one on top of the other and you should have a fire going all night without really going down too much you know if ever it's needed okay so a pot hanger is always very useful but in this situation for a video it looked pretty but we're in a rush for some nice hot coffee and I got a nice base like this I don't need a pot hanger now this will be ready in I know four or five minutes he's done clothes do my darling so Josie's cooking this lunch but you won't see it in this video you're gonna have to check out a hearse ah but before it's ready
