hey folks how's everyone doing hope you're all doing great just before I get into this video this follow-up of the Lost hunter if you just happen to click on this video I would absolutely suggest you to go and watch that scenario I've done on the Lost hunter so that you may better understand this one ah you guys I have just no words for you you're just totally totally awesome I'm actually overwhelmed by the the opinions in the comments and you went beyond my expectations that's great you know I had written a few things that I was wanting you to see and understand concerning this video but as I said you went beyond and that's great and I thank you for all that I'm going to try and be really brief now I will not talk about all the details and everything that you guys put because this up this video is going to be an hour I just want to talk a little bit about the general you know scenes that you saw on the things that you know we should understand the good thing okay so sorry about that so as I said I just want to go through the major things that I was wanting you guys to see now John the hunter what is the first thing that led to all this disaster was the first thing that he done that he should have never done that just led to this and a lot of you guys got it frustration frustrated just killed him he was frustrated because of lack of game you know a simple little thing like that can lead to just big stuff because he was frustrated he didn't realize that he was not equipped
to go deeper in the woods you know you should have had you know maps of the area was unfamiliar should have compass and know how to use them you know I just carry it and he should have had some stuff to at least be able to stay for a couple of days but because of his frustration he did not see that he just want to go on he had one idea and it was to find some game now if he would not have been frustrated he would have stopped and realized that he was not equipped to go ahead so we would have been able to just turn around and go back home so frustration is the first thing that just led to all this right so once he got frustrated and made that mistake he started to realize that he was lost and obviously that happens to everybody the first thing was panic you know panicked and confusion and you know led to bad attitude as you saw and that's what created all the bad the bad things but first let's talk a little bit about the good actions because there was some good actions in there I know a lot of people did not see them but there still was now they weren't perfectly accomplished because he was panicky and he was confused and you know negative but he done a few things right water he found water because he was thirsty that's a good thing we all know about dehydration we're going to keep hydrated not just because it's a good thing for us in the sense that you know we need water but concerning the weather keep him warm keep him going you know keep his mind clear being hydrated is very important second thing fire it wasn't perfect we'll talk about that but he did was able to create fire and somewhat ace type of shelter three things that are major right keeping hydrated keeping dry and warm with a fire and dry with the shelter those are absolutely great for thing that he done right somewhat is he took care of his injury right away when you're in a panicky situation sometimes you're not going to think about that and you're going to keep on going and this now this example he had an arm that was I you know broken or torn or whatever if you would have taken care of it is panicky confusion and negative attitude and he this could have gotten a lot worse where he can you know hardly move so he took care of that right away also another right thing in a good action that he done was a certain point he decided to stop and take a look at what he had and what he could do with it and that's where he found that famous Fierstein so that gave him an idea another thing that he fired on right you know after realizing what he had he boiled some water which is absolutely key again to keep those nasty bacteria waterborne diseases out of your body and that being done he decided to use also some natural resources you know like the balsam fir you know for extra vitamin C and all that stuff so that was just one example but when you're out there and you know a little bit about stuff it's a good thing to add whatever you can you know to keep you going keep you healthy so overall what he should have done ok I won't go and all the good details you you said but overall what he should have done after you know this panicky situation where he realized he was lost he found the water good you stay there right because it was getting dark there's no time to fool around you find yourself a nice little place not too far from the water right the water source you build your fire get that going nice you collect some firewood and you start building a makeshift shelter you know and you just stay there all night keep warm keep dry until the morning you know and assess your situation and go on from there that's what he should have done in general right all right so now that we got the good actions aside let's talk talk a little bit about the bad actions and there was a lot of that now as we just mentioned the first few things he got frustrated Panik became confused very negative those were bad actions now what he could have done where he was there was enough snow that he could have retraced you know his way back to his car or whatever and even at a certain point and i am happy some of you realized that there's not many people but you heard a chainsaw going in the background now i wanted to capture that to put in this video he could have just hope chainsaw sound let's go towards a chainsaw now a chainsaw doesn't unless he's really unlucky and it was his last cut he could have went directly to the guy or whoever was you know working the woods there but you see that's what's going to happen when you panic you become not literally but you become blind and you don't hear anything all you're thinking is your situation and how bad it is and that's why you make so many bad mistakes so those that's the first thing now I'm not again I'm going to talk in general alright second thing John got to water source now you dug a hole no that's good hey it's going to take some things away but it was not good enough now again you have to realize when you're very very thirsty and you see water you want to drink so one thing you have to do is be disciplined and not drink it right away especially when you another means of keeping that water safe and John did have that mean even though he didn't see it right away so the bad thing it was good what he done but not good enough he should have boiled his water also because of the situation is panicky situation he took unnecessary risks he climbed that hill that hill was wet would have been dangerous now he had a good idea you want to go to higher ground to see if you could see anything but it was too late in the day he should have stopped remember what I talked about in the good overall actions should stay down there but he didn't and that led to mechanical injury alright that shotgun I'm a happy a lot of people realize that when you are not hunting that shotgun should always be in the sling always always always you know he was climbing with that thing he could have filled up the barrel all kinds of things could have happened and he would not have forgotten it or lost it if he would have kept it here so shotgun was another mistake after that he just kept walking there wasn't much time left you know always come back to the overall good stuff remember stay there stay put fire water shelter is all there okay but he kept on walking now that could have led to more injury you know he was a little bit weaker not just mentally but physically he walked me a staggering and he slipped a few times that could have been dangerous and at the end even though he wasn't thinking about it he would not have had enough time to prepare himself for the night so that's another thing to consider okay let's talk about the shelter a little bit the shelter was good but not quite good enough it was too big too high you know from what he really needed he could have made just a little little tiny to be able to keep that heat inside longer fire oh boy let's talk about back now what you saw me do I had to do that in the video because I want people to realize that that could be a mistake and there's not a lot of people that saw that of course we know about heat treatment and temper and all that stuff that could have damaged my blade what I've done that and in this situation we have to try and not compromise our cutting tool and this could have done it now let me give you another situation if you are stuck in that what it's your life we're talking about okay it doesn't matter about the temper or not you use it you do what you need to do to get something going to keep you alive now this situation if the temper would have been damaged and I would have broken the tip so what I still got some cutting-edge okay but that's not something John could have done something else without having that risk to damage his blade let me give you a little example this is the knife that was used and don't worry it's in perfect condition I've done this before with other blades and you know i'll wait i never had that issue but it's always a danger so when you saw on that video please don't do at home I don't want you to damage your knives but it's in perfect condition where is that thing right I even test them after I just puncturing the hardwood and try and even the cutting edge it's okay don't worry about that no knives were killed to make this video alright so what he could have done now I'm going to show you a pie here he could have put his knife on to a piece of wood let's say a piece of wood here hey about this thick put his foot to secure the knife right put this tinder under and use the good arm to start us fire so that's another way you could have done that so we got that fire covered by the way I'm no expert you know concerning temper and all that but I don't think that little flame was hot enough to injure tonight but I could be wrong okay but still just don't do that at home just in case but if you have to don't stop by anything you know what I mean in the respectful in that something that won't damage your life that's on what I'm talking about what you need to do what you need to do to keep on you know sustain yourself survive all right so the fire something else you guys realize a lot that's cool he went to sleep way too early he was not ready to lie down I mean the fire was not so bad but there's no would you need to collect as much wood as you can remember the overall good actions that's part of it collecting wood and even though you're inter you don't have you know saw or next you can always bust wrist size standing or even some lima ground trees and just drag him in from both sides both ends and you know as they burn he just keep on and bring them out guess that night would not have been a good night to sleep I mean you always need to you know to feed the fire so that was something else he went to sleep to early didn't collect enough wood and most of you got that awesome but the worst thing okay concerning the shell from the fire and I don't think any of you got that maybe you did sorry if I didn't think of read it or I didn't capture it is the ground cover John did not put anything on the ground to keep them you know what you call it convection you guys we're in English you keep from background from sucking all that heat out of your body that is so so important you cannot imagine you could have the best shelter the biggest fire but if your ground is cold and wet you are going to be cold all night and miserable even though you got nice heat coming towards you even though you have a nice shelter that keeps the heat or reflects it back that ground is going to make your night very miserable so it's very important to put some cover and you know John did not do that he could have put boughs at least you know a foot he needs to put at least a foot about so when you go down or if you can you can elevate your body from the ground you need to be at least a minimum of four inches if you want to be comfortable now just to give you a little story one of my last outings was right in the middle of winter in January I had a good shelter that I made out of boughs I had you know the best fire I mean it was six to seven feet long you know along fire it was huge you know so hot that I had to stay away a little bit from it and I had piled huge piles of wood for the night I actually ran out about five in the morning so I had awesome fire a very good shelter it kept the heat in but I did not put enough boughs on the ground I did put some but not enough and I was miserable all night so that's key to any type shelter fire situation you know what it would be a lot better if you could take care of your ground and make a good ground and just be beside the fire without any cover at all then having no ground cover with just your top okay in a situation where it's not raining and all that stuff so ground is very very important all right that night man huge mistake Jung did you never never leave your campsite especially at night there's too many dangers of injury and as you saw of getting lost even more now I know that flashlight thing but it could happen you know you could lose it you're panicking if you hear all kinds of stuff in the woods you know you have to imagine that John was probably thirsty was weak he was hungry he was cold so that plays a little bit with the mind but you just stay put even though you think there's aliens coming now it doesn't matter you just stay there until you you know you see the Sun so you can better assess your your your situation and move on from there all right what's the other thing I when I talked about a little bit about hypothermia of course I'm no doctor I'm no specialist but it's very important to keep warm not especially in cold situation that was fairly cold you know don't be afraid if you're at the campsite and you're getting nice and toasty and warm from your fire and you feel sleepy and you know the fire is going to go down it's going to get cold don't worry about going to sleep there you will go to sleep there's no danger that cold will wake you up which is a good thing it's telling you hey you need to put some more wood in the fire the bad thing isn't is in his situation in John situation where he was cold freezing hypothermia was there but then he felt tired and he decided to go to sleep instead of pumping himself up which would have been hard and I'll keep him warm he went to sleep and didn't wake up that's what you have to not do alright we're almost done you guys are patient thank you so you've talked about good stuff we've talked about bad stuff now I just want to take a min or two and talk to you about the most important thing that John lacked after you know he panicked after he was you know being so negative than realizing his situation the thing that John liked the most was the will to live or maybe better put the will to want to get out of there that is very key key to all this situation why should I explain that more take it this way if he would have had if he would have had the will to live or to want to get out of there a lot of things would have changed because the will heart okay the will deliver to want to get out of there will ignite the knowledge that you have here so you can apply it into action you know into the right actions to keep you going you see I could tell you a few stories I might tell you a couple of stories but if you don't have that will and it's hard to talk about this will because we don't really know if we have it if we're in that true situation but we still have to talk about it because if you don't have it it doesn't matter how knowledgeable you are it doesn't matter how skilled you are you could be very skilled and it doesn't matter the great gear that you have if you don't have that will none of the
we'll help you and there is proof of that I'm going to tell you to little stories and I won't mention any names or where this took place but this is true life story they found a man a very experienced man outdoorsman after three days he had you know gotten lost and after three days he found him and he was dead hypothermia now experienced knowledgeable he still had food for two days and he was well equipped what went wrong the will when this gives up the rest is useless and then he hear about a story about this eight-year-old boy no knowledge at all no skill no equipment and they find him after five days and he's still alive so the will is very important if you if there's something I want you guys to remember about all of what you've heard is that the will and of course always always be prepared even though you're going just two hours in the woods always be prepared for a day or two stuff you never know okay well that was a lot of fun and I you know I think it's a great lesson for all of us now I know I'm sorry guys I did not go into all the details there's a lot more things that you know you could have done and more bad things that you shouldn't have done and what I suggest you if you want you go back and into the video you need to rewatch it but go back to the comment section where all the comments are and reread them and take some notes you know good things bad things write them down study them then you apply them because there's a lot of good information you guys left that I didn't talk about all right I appreciate your participation and everything that you've done we had a lot of fun I might try and do some other scenario that's a lot of work as some of you go no filming I might be compelled to talk about fear in a video sometime if you guys are interested you let me know you know because I won't talk about that if you guys are not interested there are three types of fear that you will face that I believe that you will face in that situation two good ones and one bad one and as you saw that was one bad one because panic and all that negativity comes from fear and I would explain all that if you guys are interested ok enough of my ballot you guys are great this is like from lush red box by
