hello everyone greg from busy can do is having a challenge because of his hundred subs and first thing Greg congratulations with your hundred salt my friend great job his challenge what he wanted to see in a video is one of two things or maybe two things is teamwork you know team effort doing something or teaching someone new now Greg my video is going to be a little different I'm sorry about that because at this time I have no one to come with me but concerning the teamwork I'm sure most of you guys will be wanting to help me build this shelter so there's a team effort
team effort sorry and for building or teaching someone new well even though I don't have anybody with me I'm hoping that this shelter will be something new for a couple of you guys now one of my I guess preferred shelter to build is your typical lean-to because it's fast easy and you know quite effective but one thing that I don't like about the shelter is this you know rain doesn't always come down straight sometimes it'll come down some other way and if it goes against your lean-to well guess what you're going to wake up wet so that's about the only thing but I still love to build it now there's three shelters I like to build now if you've seen one of my first videos is the arrow head what I call the arrow head shelter for a couple of people the lean-to and this one that I'm about to show you it's a little bit more work than the lean-to but not that much but I just simply love to do this one so again what I'm going to do is build the frame okay and come back right at you we'll look at it and talk a little bit about it and continue on after so don't go away alright guys the mainframe is done as you can see very simple nothing complicated the only difference here that you would have is this pole here you've got a longer Pole right here for your front but the rest is just like your normal tripod right as such now obviously you know depending on how tall you are how big you are and if you want to also cover up your here we're going to have to make some adjustments like that let's say for example okay me we move you around a bit bring you guys around here
all right is that the right angle sorry about the angle guys I'm just trying to figure out here so you could see it properly all right now here depending you want to cover yourself but depending how big you are and if you want to leave a little place in the back here for your gear to also be covered you're going to need to adjust it with this pole either put a bigger one you all and just sign it down you just adjust it like the way that is proper for you now let me bring you back in front here okay just nuts adjustments missing a cameraman okay a little tip now I know that most people what you do it's important to know the you know how tall you are so you don't build your shelter too big for nothing a lot of people will lie down on the ground take the measurements on both sides to see you know the right length and that is good that is perfect that's what you got to do but after a while when you've built these shelters a couple of times you don't need to lie down anymore okay now I'll give you a simple simple tip how to do this let's say you do lie down you got your you got your measurement you put a piece of wood in one end another piece of wood on the other end now all you got to do is measure the spaces or the paces I mean now I know that every shelter I do you know this one the lean-to or even you know the typical a-frame I'm going to need three paces okay so I go one two and three and I've been after that after I've counted my paces I mark both ends and then I can adjust my shelter to the right length of my body so it's a lot easier you know they're always lying down the ground finding the length of your body once you've done it a couple of times you know your paces by heart all you need to do is count your paces and it just you know your shelter that's your body length so anyway this is the first part very simple I know I should have I should have showed the whole thing but one long pole on one side the back pole is a little longer than this then the left one
alright here because I want some little bit of deep in my shelter just tie the three together you know all together horizontally and then pick it up and twist it like you want now these ends here second just these ends here obviously this one here and this one here q ones on the side would not bother me for a shelter even though it rains here and here it's still going to stay on the exterior you know the inside so there's no problem there this is the one that I should actually absolutely cut off because if it rained on this it's going to go in and if it hits any little stumps or not stumps but little pieces of wood I forgot to cut it's going to drip right on me but in this case I'm going to have to cut the three because I'm going to have to cover the whole thing from the top okay if I don't cut these two here and I do cut this one here I'm going to be able to put my boughs or whatever I use moss to cover it properly so rain doesn't come in so I'm going to have to cut these three so I'm going to do next is cut the three and I'm going to start on the ribs and when I'm there well I'll show you what it looks like so stay tuned alright guys this time I have to take you off the camera this would be too much of a pain to move everything around so the frame is done right now the ribs are done as well let's take a look at it over here this angle now depending on the season summer winter this is more of a summer type frame or rib because I don't need needed to be that solid okay if you know rain is if it does rain it doesn't need to be that but in the wintertime I would double all that just in case during the night there's a you know big snowfall it's not very long to do just one little tip okay if you can you plant them in the ground so they're a little bit solid no need to tie them at the top I mean this is just a temporary shelter you'll need to waste too much energy this thing is going to work one little thing in case you didn't know the ribs are not extending out of the main pole or any other pole for that matter right now the main reason for that in case you didn't know if you let this bowl stick out too much even if you have you're covering if it rains the rain will come in they'll hit the top tip of your rib and it can go down right under and it's going to hit these little things here that are sticking out and you know drip right in your shelter now the perfect rib ribs would be no branches at all these branches you know like this one sticking out if my covering is not well made the water's going to hit this and go down and come back okay but this is you know I would put a very good covering on this so that wouldn't happen but if you want a perfect one you have to cut everything off so so far that's what it looks like here give you another angle from the back so you can truly understand a little bit and now I'm going to cover it now to make something pretty decent you know I could use this moss here which would be perfect but I don't want to waste any anything because I won't be sleeping in this tonight so what I'm going to do I'm going to use some simple boughs again I won't be waterproofing it completely but just to give you an idea of what it's going to look like so don't go away alright guys sorry I'm just running out of time I don't have time to waterproof it completely the shelter would need at least Oh two or three more layers of boughs like this and it would be good now another horse better way would have been to keep the sticks closer and add a lot more sticks to the ribs and just use the moss all around you know and just build it up but I don't have time so I'll still show you a little bit how to do this just give you a little angle here really didn't have time to finish it but anyway there from here so real fast when you're using boughs always important put the needles going down as they naturally go to shed the water now this is just like building you know your roof on the house you start from the bottom and then build on top crisscross them and at the top here you do the same thing see you noticed here how its overlapping the edge here overlapping the rest well that's how it's got to finish you see the top going down so it drips on the on the other one and when you do put it on the edge here you do the same thing as your back you start from the bottom and you crisscross halfway hey bottom half way on top half way on top half way on top and you do that about Oh three to four times until you don't see any more holes anywhere see it would need at least two to three more it would be too long to do but that's what it looks like guys at this type of shelter it takes about it took me all just about an hour just add another half an hour maybe to really waterproof it you know but anyway there she is so I'm just going to finish with some last thoughts
it's nice to build a shelter but they're going to fit oh man this is perfect you know what you can't go wrong with spaces you know I always leave a little bit longer at the end here because if you count the end you can't move your feet that's why it's a little bit longer this is perfect size actually and I got plenty of room here to put my gear and just I don't that's too bad I don't have time I think I spend the night here one last thing I want to point out I don't always like sleeping on the ground now here it's I mean it's moss it's perfect it's summer it's not too cold but I what I'll usually do is cut myself some more poles all right
the length as I go stay off the ground and fill it up with a nice cushion of boughs again so I'm comfortable so if anything does happen if water for some reason who does come in at the bottom of my shelter at least I'm off the ground I don't wake up whit which is a good thing so oh well I want to thank you guys for helping me out build this temporary shelter great teamwork thank you very much and I hope some of you guys learned something new and Greg again great job on your hundred selves I hope that this type of video will be okay for you thanks for your support this is Mike from Bush reporters you
