Video Transcription
so what I usually carry in this front pouch here usually their gloves and this little kit right here and a spoon I cook there's other little tiny things there but
I'd like to take a look at what's in here and this year so I'd like to take some minutes to just take a look at this what's the contents of this pouch now this pouch or this type of pouch is becoming pretty popular nowadays I think it's mainly or was created for a tinder pouch now I receive this one here from Justin about a year ago or so and very grateful Justin thank you very much but I decided to not use this as a tinder pouch but more of a repair kit actually I should be calling this miscellaneous know things you would need out here if need be so let's just take a quick look at the contents it's pretty cool it opens up pretty wide okay first off I always like to carry I have sandpaper and I have three grits in here I have 80 180 and 220 and this is mainly for good jobs you know finishing touches on spoons and and that type of work I also have a triple low on the top here for cleaning stuff also have some artificial sinew lip balm which is always useful instead of a lot of people carry beeswax and it could be better but I don't have these wax and it's a little bit bigger and you know this could do the job fire lighting I still have some fire stuff in here let me take it out there also have a whoo I marry you if fair rod and I used an empty lip balm container to put
a couple of needles in here easy way to carry I also have a piece of a Madhu that I sometimes experience you know do all kinds of experiments with this fire lighting too
I have a little charred container here they used to use especially to char char cloth or cloth I mean but in here I have some nice quality chaga fire lighting I also have quite a few pieces of the famous loops man and clumsy inner-tube always useful have a little sponge again clean some containers
Bank line I'll leave that one there jute twine a little homemade knife nice and sharp this little guy is very useful for small anyway I'll show you someday I also have a file cloud can be used for all kinds of stuff and also striking the fare rod
I have a little what do you call these magnifying glass can't remember where I got this so sorry about that could be handy also have a little bit of leather lace placing and three four feet of duct tape now I use all this quite frequently except to be honest I haven't sown too many things yet but it's there just in case with the needle now today what I will be mainly using as a sandpaper because I got some work to do on another spoon that I carved some sanding and that's what I'm doing this afternoon
now I first take off the rough part with the matey I make sure everything is off by one off as the other grits won't do it so I make sure everything is smooth where I want it to be smooth and if I want to leave some some stuff I leave it and then I go to the 180 sometimes a 180 is good enough but if I want an even smoother I'll go at 220 just take your time
the bold part is the most important of course because it's going in your mouth so you want it to be comfortable now a lot of people have been asking me about those starting about some good woods to use run that my area what I like to use will be mainly birch maple maple is the best little harder to carve over and Terri those are my three main woods that I will use for spoons the inside of the bowl is a toughest for me anyway ah
we can't really it's hard to bring it to perfection
with your hand but see I gotta get rid of this here the back is pretty well done what's cool about when you're doing the 80 sometimes there's a mistake you done with your crook knife or whatever it's not quite as round as you like well you can always fix it by sandy so that's why being that inside of the bowl is tougher when you're using a crook knife make sure you even it as much as you can so that there's less work sanding it after we're getting there
I'll show you what sometimes happens and you're doing the bowl see the edge what it's gonna do as it thins it out is you know you don't want to just go on that single point and try and you need to send it all so it becomes nice and even everywhere well as much as you can anyway and that's gonna thin out the edge a bit but that's easily fixed the sandpaper just flatten it if you don't want the edges to be too sharp so you just flatten it this way and just give it a little bit of a so touch
and
fix it up for you of course they look nice and a lot more smoother with the other greets somebody else or another question asked me if or why my bowls weren't that deep well it's just a personal preference and I find it goes well this way now if you just take a look at the spoons you use at home to even eat soup you'll see that the bowl is not that deep unless you want a very specific spoon that has a you know a big bowl or a deep bowl for getting stuff or cooking with whatever but just to eat that to me I don't think it's necessary and these have always been my style spoons
I like it to go down just a little bit back up that way anyway okay so I think I'm gonna stop on the bowl here they could you know I could be sanding a little bit more in this corner but I don't want to guys I don't want to thin it too much so it's gonna be it's gonna be good that way I may want to make it a little different I usually you know make it all nice and smooth everywhere and it looks good but I think I'm gonna leave some stuff just to give it that see that here and I leave some stuff on it it's too much white you can't see but anyway I'm not gonna send it right smooth all the way just to give it its own style I gotta get rid of this here now when you're doing the 180 grit you want to take your time and make sure it's all nice and smooth everywhere now if you run your finger and you feel that there's one place that's not as smooth eat the sand more that's all nice and smooth now course you won't see it so I'm gonna finish this off the I decided to leave the handle as is you can't see nothing it just reflects too much white but I'll finish it off and again like I usually do at the end of the video now next step I do now you don't need to do that I like to you know burn some type of design on it by burning some type of design it makes it unique because I never burn the same thing because I don't even know what I usually learn but anyway and after that I resented to try and get the rough marks at the burnt done and then the last question that people have been asking what oil do I use mineral oil that's all I use been using it for years and it works great never had any problem oh alright so this is the last time you'll be seeing it until I burn it Rees and it put the right oil so that's what she looks like some nice colors in it harder to see in the camera but and she is another one that's crooked and even though she's crooked I can still a left-handed person can still use it easily and a right-handed use it easily all right so now it's about that time again coffee
well it sure feels nice to be out came out
got a couple videos to do you know after we close the camera will in my case obviously I don't film everything when I'm out here then it would you know kill the main purpose of why I come out of here now you probably notice that this world is hooked to technology Wow take time - you just go to the mall doctor's office no matter where you go no one's talking to each other anymore it's just on the phone iPad incredible another is good in technology don't get me wrong but iPad iPod television computers
we're ruling the humans let me tell you one thing this world system will give you what you want when you're out here you'll get what you need that's for me anyway okay so what we're having tonight this is a chicken breast that I broke up it's already cooked I broke up into pieces with a red sauce that tastes like heaven so folks that's my meal for tonight chicken and Vanek sounds good all over this is that perfect or what well
I'm going to enjoy this meal and we can enjoy this video let's just think about what we're doing I put a lot of thought about that week
but
how much time we spend on technology well
save some time for the outdoors that you can get out there enjoy yourself make some push up for you guys take care
