well we are our way to harvest some mushrooms

but of course Josie saw this great patch of raspberries and yes it's a good thing to pick them up for the Fallen ground waste alright so today is harvest day for chanterelle mushrooms fresh deer poop anyway this year it's rained quite a bit on the well mushrooms love water so we should have a night on but a fair harvest hopefully so that's what we'll be doing today hope you stick along so we got it's about time we do harvest them because a lot of them are wasting away and you find that they're becoming like jelly light you just leave them there that's what I do anyway there's a nice one see it's nice and firm and not discolored man there's a lot okay this is this is a little crazy on this side we found a beautiful patch it's nice and healthy and just about ready look this is my hand and I mean they are everywhere I'll take a look at these over here look at that look at that is that crazy or what that's my hand they mushroomed up though full of water so anyway I don't know if I'm gonna take those but look at the size of them right there look at the beautiful color how nice and healthy they are okay I'm not done look at this all over the place there look at that over there okay let's climb up and check it out crazy crazy crazy nice find that they're everywhere this is so cool and you know what that's not at all look there okay now I gotta get to work a little bit more difficult to get but a nice pile right here so doing good up there joseline man we are very blessed let's say

still we haven't went up yet but I mean look okay so this is quite unexpected to be honest it's actually overwhelming we don't have to walk a couple of miles I mean just in this area of about a couple of hundred square feet maybe a hundred okay let's just talk about a hundred square feet here it's just we're going to have too much I need your help this is just one patch I haven't even done the woods this it's just overwhelming

look so

Jozy starting this patch look at that okay now that's nothing you're still all that top see all the orange over there and I just glazed a little bit and I can see the dam everywhere let me show you look at that there there way over there and we haven't walked far there look at that all under here full full of Hunter else and I'm not complaining I just need your guy's help you need to come down quick and get your look at that there's no way in the world be able to you know do all this today

what look at that they are everywhere this is chanterelle heaven right here crazy you see all the orange there that's all chanterelles walk a little further chanterelles there under over there whole bunch there Wow just here and I'm not walking very far this they're all hiding everywhere oh my goodness look at that okay I need to take a break right now this is too much to take in but you guys have I'll be here pretty much all day so hurry up and come and fill up your bags alright so for now we'll be taking a break there's a big bag there that one's not quite half full there's Julie's little bag but just incredible this bag here weighs about 20 25 pounds once we filled this up we're going to have between 40 and 50 pounds of chanterelles and you know what as you would say it's just the tip of the iceberg there's no way we're going to be able to harvest them all this yearís it's too much which is good but but of course we're going to take a break and well you know what goes well with these mushrooms come on you guessed it we'd have some steak nice piece of steak wild mushrooms stay tuned well before we do start that cooking we're going to relax and maybe have a coffee first

what do you think so

be honest this was pretty unexpectedly chanterelles but you know we had to be picky there some that had we're too far gone

a lot of water is good but too much it's not so but we'll probably be back I know if I'll have time in a couple days I'm afraid that the rains more it's going to be pretty much done but anyway we should have enough mushrooms for probably the whole winter so that saves us from buying any and you know I'm no expert in mushrooms this is the only 1i I harvest it as you can see it's plentiful it's got a good taste okay always important to carry first-aid kit doesn't matter how experienced you are indeed one right Josie show the folks you got a big cut it's not being buzzed Oh poke it mushroom hunting right oh wow what's that what's that cool scotch tape not really

that's a shirt that was sharply it's abandoned

huh

oh isn't it show the folks now I don't know what this is called but this is amazing this was sent to me by one of my friend andreas from Sweden it's it's foamy and you can use it as a band-aid and it stretches I mean it's really cool thank you Andres okay so while I'm at it I know some will be asking and this is a really really cool pouch laid by Maxpedition for first-aid kits and you know you can add anything to it it's called the fr1 combat pouch medic pouch or something like that and what's cool is that it's got you know great place but you can adjust it so when you open it it holds on here okay you've got a rope you can adjust it and you can work and get your stuff out real quick and take care of business so I thought I'd show that to you guys okay so start with the mushrooms now you do just like at home with your normal mushroom you want to take the water out and it's going to cook some of the bugs are still in there once the water is all out well we're just going to simply fry them in butter a little bit of salt and pepper that's it that's your butter okay so I got one steak cooked this is well can be plus e cos put on a rock here some butter in there my darlin what I'll do towards the end an earth steak is cooked I'll just wreath row the steaks in just a second just to keep mine okay yeah just to keep mine bring it back a little bit so it warms up and we'll be done oh look at those chanterelles okay so here is the final product just before we cha this down this beautiful perfectly cook steak we like medium medium-rare beautiful golden chanterelles

man this is going to be some good for sure

creating a piece of steak with a spoon Wow Oh

yummy

no word folks yeah

very tender

all right

the best meal in the world we chanterelles can't be anymore of course the best way of cooking it is just and simple fire okay I know you guys are wanting to see this

then after I have to eat okay so this is what you're missing I was waiting for you guys and you're not coming ah

there's your medium with a little bit of chanterelles in the back and look at this oh my mmm II

amazing yeah okay enough teasing you guys get out there okay so before I let you guys go and then answer a few questions that were asked in previous videos concerning the chanterelles one was what does it taste like compared to the you know normal white ones that we buy the groceries they asked if it tasted a little bit stronger well it has a little bit of a taste that is a little bit stronger but not too strong that it's not edible it's actually really good and I know compared to the white I say go with chanterelle it tastes like it has a little bit of a woodsy flavor can't really say but it's really good

also what do I do to freeze them because I'm going to need to take care of these you can't put them in the freezer and like it is because you take it out it's going to be like jelly so what we're going to do as soon as we get home we're going to spread them and you know make sure that there's not some there a little bit then we can pick out but they're not good maybe a little bit jelly sometimes we go fast and they do pick but we're going to spread them we're going to brush them off clean them and you know take all the dirt off and all that and let it dry for a day or two once that's done we're going to cook them like you see and to make sure that all the water is out just before that chopped up and pieces small pieces put them in the pan take the water out and then Rico come like you're seen with a little bit of butter a little boat nut as much butter but a little bit of butter and salt and pepper and once we're satisfied we spread them again and make sure that you only cool off once they're cooled off I use some ziplock bags whatever size you want what I like to do is I'll put them in and maybe half an inch thick you know like a big plate square plate from the bag and take the air out and put it in the freezer that way you can stack your your bags easily and if you need some mushrooms you don't need to take the whole bag it's easily broken off and take what

you need so anyway I hope that answers some of your questions for those who ask and see you the next video you take care of that

show you

okay folks there you have it they're all brushed up what do you want to do is brush them up not put them in water kills you will destroy them and you will notice that there's going to be bugs coming out don't worry about them there's going to be some that will stay but don't worry about them either because once you cook them you'll kill them and we'll just add some protein you should it's too bad you can't smell what I'm smelling right now when you just smell one it smells great but this whole bunch here nice sweet smell of chanterelles I tell you okay for those that are interested maybe wonder okay it's nice it tastes good does it give me anything

well chanterelles are high in vitamin C vitamin D actually one of the highest in vitamin D and potassium so for the winter when you have no sunshine you can put some in your belly okay thanks for watching

you
