Hey
even though it's very hot and it's up the greatest time to be out here I still have to come I'm still gonna have to make a fire because there's lots of mosquitoes and all that stuff not to warm myself but to keep them at bay but that's going to be later after just my pot hanger because different setup strings different setups so it's going to be a very short one thing this is the shortest putt hanger I've ever done so
weasel pieces of a jerky will be my supper
in a hurry to start the fire still hot
hogs are still there I'll endure though but they'll be starting at that it feels like it might get cooler and it's a good thing when it's hot you got shade
faster in these woods but also it gets dark lot quicker I'm hoping as it gets darker the cooler get that fire going and coffee and relax you
well that feels good man it's about time that I get that far go and let me tell you getting chewed these socks or going over my pants you know my favorite time but I'm camping this way alone first of all once in a while it's nice to go out solo for whatever reason you choose but what I really like is when it gets pitch black because that's when some of the switch turns off and I can really relax all I have is the fire and the immediate closed light that the fire produces and that's it so I can relax you know this unstress is when it's not dark my eyes see all kinds of things and I always okay I have to do this oh why not do that so finally I work too much here so that's not the point that's why I can't wait for it to become dark I'm going to be completely open to you about a certain subject and I think that well I thought personally that this should be talked about and probably other video makers on YouTube would probably agree but anyway you can decide what you want after you listen to me because it's something that's pretty important and the subject and it's been a while always wanted to talk about this so why not talk about it now the subject is product reviews now as I said I'm going to be open and these are things that you probably already know first thing yes I receive all the products free and I know what I'm about to tell you I don't have to tell you any of this but I strongly believe that we are friends I don't like to call you guys fans or viewers or your friends I mean you watch my videos your comment you like we interact whenever I can so your friends so yes I do receive them free but when you think about it it's not that free because we do have to make the video and those that have never made videos before it takes a lot of work you know coming out here and showing the thing I'm doing all the camerawork and then the editing and all that so it's not completely free of course when we review inside it's not as much work but it's still work so it's not completely free you know once in a while I'll have the troll come by my channel and you know say all kinds of stuff just like a lot of you guys making videos and you know I've been set I've been on YouTube for seven years so I've gotten over that I mean I just flush them I don't even waste my energy or time but it seems like a lot of trolls are coming and talking more and more about these reviews because there's a lot on YouTube right there's actually this guy that I know a couple of months ago I can't remember what I was reviewing but he said well if it's free like you I'll take it now there's nothing wrong with that and I'm not going to be mean to the guy that's on my a focus okay to be unkind real thing it's just a little bit of the maturity but what I would say to those type of people is open up a YouTube channel work hard for seven years making videos and maybe you will get something free so anyway the reason one of the reason why I make reviews of products first of all is for small businesses or friends they're just starting or they want their channel to be promoted people I know you know from the YouTube community especially the knives and leather and stuff like that I like to promote and help them and at the same time you get to see their stuff and I try and be as honest as I can so it's like YouTube is not just free for videos but you see products that are either good or bad so you don't get caught but that is one of the first reasons that I do reviews is to help small businesses now there are bigger companies that I do reviews for
there's one thing that people need to understand is that YouTube in my case people think that we make a lot of money trust me okay is far from being that I'm not full-time on YouTube and not planning to be maybe those that have a million subscribers or 500,000 whatever maybe they can it's possible but a small channel like me forget it yes I do receive an amount but it changes here and there and it's just enough you know to round off the monthly bills so it's nothing to write home about if I can say it that way so being that I have to put food on the table the reviews will help me do that as well because sometimes not all the time but sometimes whatever I review I'm able to resell so I can you know make ends meet so that's the reason another reason why I do reviews I don't do that to everything I mean there's some good friends that send me personal stuff
I keep or even big company stuff that I like I'll keep but sometimes you know just to make ends meet I'll sell it or I'll trade it to be able to sell something else it's all to make ends meet and I don't think there's anything wrong with working and trying to make a living so those are the main reasons why I make reviews and I know there's a lot of people that don't like that and don't seem to understand and I have nothing against those people I'm not offended the point is to understand why these reviews are being made by me that's my personal thought and opinion it's because it doesn't just help you guys out to choose stuff and to see new stuff come out but it helps me financially to not to get rich but to make ends meet my channel okay is all by God's grace it's here because of that but the main gas that makes this engine run that he uses is you guys my friend your faithful faithfulness watching and all that so what I ask of you right now is even though there are product reviews more and more please keep on watching you know continue liking continue commenting sharing I mean some of you are already doing that but you know don't give up on me just because I'm making more product reviews and also another reason is because I can't come here in the woods every day and make an adventure video it's impossible so reviews takes away the gap in between stuff like this like tonight now there will be more reviews coming some great products there'll be some giveaways I want to do but there still be always my main thing is to enjoy the wilderness okay I just want to clear that now maybe there's still some of you that don't accept that that's okay I have nothing against it
but those of you that understand I need your support that's what it is all right so it's been said and I hope that some of you understand this and I'm pretty sure is the same thing with any other channel that review products all right now it's what is it ten o'clock
I think I'm going to stop drinking coffee because I won't be able to sleep it's still pretty warm the fire is just there for the bugs because I don't really need it but anyway I'm going to have a tea I think okay folks I have heard right now the strangest of noises well not a strange noise but I can't identify what it is it's not a shotgun or any rifle it's not a moose I know when it moves you know in rut season when he hits the trees and it's uneven rut season anyway but it's as if a man had a big piece of wood and hit a big tree at least 20 times kind of exciting but kind of weird because I've never heard that and no there are no houses here there's no farms right over there where it happened it's just woods for quite a few miles and I'd either be someone in the woods at this time no one comes here mysteries when you're out here hey I look like was that scary movie type thing this light makes me look horrible okay so anyway I'll keep you guys posted if I hear it again of course when I opened up the camera the sound was gone always happens
okay so the sound came from over there somewhere it wasn't very far I'd say Oh maximum of 500 feet go a little bit further of course if it would've been if it would have been gunshots I know what you know there's a lot of poachers here they just caught some there a couple of weeks ago but it wasn't gunshots come on do it again I'm on camera okay well anyway though just getting it going any further maybe we'll hear it again later and I'll open up the camera for you guys maybe it's in the tree maybe it's a big monkey I'm sure you guys didn't hear that now I know what a bunch of coyotes sound like and that was not coyotes or maybe it was wasn't clear you probably didn't hear it as usual anyway if I open up the camera again I'll try and get the sounds all right a little update I was trying to figure out what it was I I'm not sure to be honest and plus I was sitting on my hammock chair and the play of the stick where I'm sitting on broke so I fell right on my well seat so good but that spooked me anyway I don't know if you heard those sounds or not probably not but for all the times I've been in the woods at night for so many years I have not heard those sounds before the 20 hits like a man doing hitting that that is really strange
and then those yelps I don't know how to call now I know coyotes okay I've heard them thousand nine I'm gonna say thousand I've heard them lots of times when I'm out at night especially when they get a kill you know they'll start barking and run and they'll be a whole bunch and I know they got a kill but this time that wasn't that it was right well anyway not quite like that but it was an eerie eerie sound I have to be honest that spooked me a little bit so that being said uh I'm still gonna go to bed with no problems at all and if you don't see this video well you don't see this video I mean something happened to me okay or I'll see you in the morning you guys take care so I do suppose this is lights out for me folks I will as usual leave you with the beautiful scenery that I have right now I am a little bit warm not sweating so that's okay I got to protect myself from bugs and in the middle of the night it will get a little cooler and I don't feel like you know being chilled a bit I'd rather be able to take some stuff off so let me show you what I'm looking at and with that will be saying good night good morning folks well actually it's not the morning yet I'm at the rekindle the fire a bit actually I'm hungry I only had one little piece of jerky for supper a little granola bar wasn't quite enough so now that woke me up it's about three o'clock in the morning so I think I'm going to focus I'm going to have a little bite to eat get some cereal but Quaker thing and then try and look for a little bit more wood for the real morning when it comes well good morning with 5:30 I'm still here so I guess it's good news right I guess we're going to have ourselves some coffee now before I can tuck I need coffee but
yep so go some bicycles and when I woke up in the middle of the night I prepared my coffee already so everything's in the pot Anita put it over the fire so let's do this so the night wasn't too bad except for waking up hungry obviously I wasn't cold they got down to probably 10 through 10 or 13 degrees Celsius which is perfect so I wasn't hot or cold
maybe that's around 5055 Fahrenheit now if you remember my other piece of wood here broke last night so I fell right on my cheeks that surprised me so right now I'm using the same Ridge Pole Webb used to hang the pots that's why it's sticking out that way but anyway so let's talk a little bit about last night's events well as I've said and all the years I've been in the woods these are the strangest sounds I've ever heard whenever quite a few quite a few sounds that I always usually recognize now that I run around all that I can't explain that in words but they are probably 90% it's coyotes and I know that they have different calls but that's one that I wasn't used to I have no idea of what it was it wasn't a kill one but as I said when they do have a kill we all start barking and hot and howling but it wasn't that sound at all and there were a bunch of them it wasn't just one sound so let's scratched off my list I'm 90% sure it was coyotes now the other sound I cannot like about 20 hits as if I would have taken a I know 4 inch diameter by 4 feet long okay about that size and I'd be hitting in on a big tree you know that what that sound would make pow pow and no it wasn't gunshots it's close enough I mean I know what gunshots are but 20 and was going that direction there's no houses that direction there's no farms right now I'm on a my usual you know we're after permission farmers land got 200 acres and the road is that way and then the farmer that way that's it
the sound was right there and not far away I was 10 11 between 10:30 11:00 maybe so it's not a neighbor cutting wood or doing anything like that or chopping down a tree so my only guess would be maybe it's a bunch of kids trying to scare me off which I doubt or as I said they caught some poachers a couple weeks ago in a little town not far from here maybe was poachers you know poachers working at night you know I'm here trying to scare me off autumn but that's that's more than I will be able to explain but I'm sure it's really explainable now I got a lot of people talking to me about Bigfoot and hey I've seen Bigfoot in your videos and do I believe in Bigfoot well I don't believe in Bigfoot and I do believe in Bigfoot
who knows never seen one so I can't say but it was pretty exciting I haven't had a quite excitement in the middle of the night like that in a long time where I'm wondering okay what was that because you know when you're in the woods at night there's always sounds you guys know and you get used to those sounds like over here I have I know there's a marmot that lives nearby and sometimes just before dawn he'll do all kinds uh you know I'll come out I'll make some some sounds you know it's pretty heavy a marmot or you have the skunk raccoon deer moose all the animal or something you can always almost identify what it could be not always but it's nothing like oh my goodness what was that but last night that was that for me I was a little bit spooked yep but you know after 12 o'clock when I said good night everything was gone didn't last long but it was exciting oh thank god this is so good so maybe you're wondering why I have this set up like two tripods on both sides and why I didn't use trees be much simpler well first I wanted to show you that if you are in a place where there's no trees close fire available in the field whatever it's one way you can do this second reason I know that from a camera there seems to be a lot of beautiful flat places it looks like those two trees are perfect both sides of me to tie but no there's nothing perfect in this area it's a stony and bumpy it's and the only comfortable flat area is about the size of the inside of my shelter there it's the only place and right there there's a little tree and right there there's no tree so that's why I use the tripod get out there you know I love to read and hear about all kinds of another pioneer days and some specific special people some woodsmen I've done some great things but I also like to read stories of missionaries and there's a lot of great stories of missionaries around this planet but one of my favorites in North America of course our great man but there's one that's not mentioned a lot but he is probably my favorite his name is David Brainerd now he was a missionary to the natives American Indians in the 18th century 1720 1730 in the Massachusetts area and around I can't remember which Native Americans they were he didn't live very long at the age of 29 he died of consumption which is you know basically tuberculosis but he went through so many struggles you know living in the woods going in the woods trying to reach the Indians Indians North American Native Americans I should say and his story is all in a journal and well if you're a Christian when you read this journal he says the things that we would never say but always feel so if you've never really her about him or anything I strongly suggest you get his book of this journal and even he's got it on mp3 I the only thing I have on my phone I don't even have music anything all I have is David Brainerd and sometimes before going to bed last night I'll listen to a few chapters and you know meditate upon that it's really cool he died very young though but anyway I think this is going to be pretty much it for this video it's probably long enough right I know some of you don't like that especially if you're listening watching from a phone you can watch videos out long but wait until you get home also well my little speech about reviews I hope it didn't offend too many people but I think it was time that it came out I know if it's going to have a positive or negative effect but it had to be said you know that's how it is YouTube is YouTube is free to watch for anyone nobody nobody pays unless you know there's certain channels that make you pay but in general you don't pay it's free for everyone to watch and you know there's also people complaining about ads little commercials at last 30 seconds yeah I know it's a pain because people are used to watching the video and right away and they don't have to wait 30 seconds man waiting 30 seconds is not the end of the world but you know what those ads is it's what pays YouTube if there wouldn't be any ads there wouldn't be any YouTube so you know these people need to be patient it's it's it's free to watch ok enough of my rambling and get myself another coffee I thank you again for taking the time to watch my videos and know what enjoy the wilderness go out we've been having hot days and I knew this would have been a hot day yesterday so said to myself I'm going anyway
alright this is Mike from bushcraft Barton's I'm gonna have myself another coffee you guys take care you
