Video Transcription
well we got a lot more snow up here after that storm and I expected I'm knee-deep should have brought my snowshoes
[Music]
now by looking at the tile of video I'm pretty sure you're well aware of what this video is gonna be about it's been going on for quite a while I guess the tag or the challenge and I'm a little bit late I apologize for that but I decided to do it because it's a great cause haze outdoors is the one that started this tag or challenge he's over the pond and AM bushcraft is the one who tagged me Andy I think his name is this challenger tag that's going around is to you know raise awareness concerning men's mental health of course you ladies are all included but this is specifically for men it could be any mental illness you know from PTSD anxiety attacks panic attacks deep depression and all the other illnesses that I have no words for it's all for that and I have no doctor no psychologist I have absolutely probably nothing good to give you but I'll give you my ten cents now I think it's mainly for men because as men sadly we have a lot of pride now there's good pride and there's their not-so-good pride you can be proud about stuff which is good but then there's that other pride that can really hurt us and hurt others you know we're seen to be providers protectors tough and nothing bothers us and in a sense it's true but another sense it's not now because I don't have much experience in all these things we can one of the reasons why I decide to do it I guess we can all agree that all of us have gone through a maybe at a small degree of depression in a lie I mean we all go through hardships and tough times and that's discouraging so based on that I'm gonna give you some of my thoughts about it the first thing I want to tell you guys that go through these things is that you're not alone and you shouldn't walk alone also to make the challenge or tag a little interesting Hays outdoors just mentioned to cook up some steak so I couldn't say no to that but during this video I'm going to give you three things that hopefully will help you this is at a personal level not a professional level things that have helped me and continue to help me during difficult times
[Music]
okay so the very first thing that I want to mention that could possibly help you is right here now I've said this in a past video but I'm gonna say it again to me as soon as I get in to the forest as soon as I'm surrounded by trees whatever's in here bothering me okay it's like the switch goes off and it just clears my mind completely it's automatic it's just like this I don't live in the past I don't live in the in the future I live in the present in the now okay and what I'm doing right now and that's very refreshing to the mind if I'm not mistaken I think in Japan they actually have a program I know if it's from the government for people with have you know panic attacks deep depressions anxiety and that stuff and the program is very simple they spend a week or two in the woods and they're having great success with that so that's why I know that most outdoor channels like mine or you know oriented outdoors wouldn't see the forest we all receive and I'm very privileged and honored by that we all received comments saying that oh it makes me feel so good to watch you well that's because you get a sense of what it is to be in the woods you're you're with us so that really helps okay you know it works now I know it's not possible for all of you to go in the woods but if it is you get up and you go out there imagine you know you're just watching a video and you're feeling good imagine if you're in it I mean in the forest and again if you're physically
basically capable of doing it now you don't have to go in the deep wilderness and spend an overnight it could be it just by the in the park you know couple of hours spent there bring a lunch anything but do it on a regular basis as much as you can as many times a week as you can have a schedule okay I'd be ruled by that schedule because if you don't have a schedule you'll never do it but if that schedule controls you concerning coming out you'll get up and it'll be a great blessing for you and your mind and emotionally and physically okay so a second thing I'd like to mention that could help you out is keep your mind busy I know when you're mentally your health your mental health is not that great it's very difficult but isolation is a killer and that's what it drives you to do these illnesses I'm not saying all of them let's talk about depression so keep your mind busy I know it's gonna be hard but push yourself I don't know if I've said it already but these depressions or illnesses or whatever you want to call them sadly they're always going to be with you most of the time it's rarely disappear but you can have victory you can overcome them and when you keep your mind busy you're replacing some good stuff with the bad stuff and that's good hang out with people like-minded or you know get some help don't be afraid of it if you think about survival okay this is the woods let's say I'm in a survival situation I can't stand those two words anymore but I have to say it let's say emergency your mind is a powerful thing and your mind is what's gonna make you survive skills are all important but if your mind is not in the right place your skills won't help you out so what I mean by that is when you are lost or you've got to keep your mind busy active productive you know you need a sense of accomplishment if you want to get out safe and it's the same thing in real life if you isolate yourself in your house and your room and your apartment you stay away from people because that's what these illnesses or health problems do that is not the answer keep your mind busy and you'll see it's going to help but push yourself you can do it so number one and number two almost intertwine even if you're physically incapable of coming in the woods or physically incapable of going out hanging out with people you can still keep your mind busy by doing stuff keep watching videos start projects start things you've never even thought of doing painting whatever but keep this busy and as this is busy you will have victory for sure because then you push out the bad stuff a lot of good things happen to those who never give up okay so let's try and get this fire going well this stuff here sadly is a little damp but hopefully it should work for us get all I can get might take a few okay what's going on I don't need a ton of wood for this just getting a coffee going and then we're gonna cook us a little bit of steak hey love that cracking sound now let's lower this guy a bit because the first duty is not too low there's this fire is gonna climb this coffee now even though I'm not quite ready for the steak yet I'm still going to prepare it I need to season it now what I like to do at home once in a while because it's quick and simple obviously I love roast beef and I like it roasted like it is but sometimes for a quick meal and I want a good steak I'll slice it I'll slice the piece of roast beef and steaks and the steaks make something quick so I decided to do the same thing here and never actually grilled one but I'm sure it's gonna be fine cuz it's nice and tender and I got some small a couple of small lights pieces so I got three actually a nice big piece here fit up the grill yeah that's right and the fateful Montreal steak spice put some just on one side this time gently oh my goodness my water is boiling it's a timer for my coffee there looks pretty good to me I think it's ready folks let's have a coffee can't forget her can't forget her fire okay just be there for me yummy yummy now don't lose your spoon okay save some for later cheers my dear friends this is for you okay okay it's time put the steaks now this won't take too long to cook so I got to keep an eye on them whoa see the problem that the snow has melted on that side put on pieces of wood take it piece here take the coals there come over here you make a stand here big enough there that shouldn't be too long there you go those are done now I know it's not a big thick juicy steak it's like a minute steak but a minute steak that is still very tender because it comes from the roast beef so let's take it off the fire and have lunch oh yeah of course of course come on now smoke was not going in this direction thank you oh so it's time to eat okay stay are there hey good minutes take still tender to number two yeah next time I come out in the woods I'm definitely going to need snowshoes
the third and final thing if you listen and you have to keep an open mind and act upon it this will truly help you and in more ways than you can imagine now I know there'll be people saying oh not that again and I'll be probably losing some subscribers as usual but you know I can't control that but what about what I'm about to say is a lot more important than that and your answer to your problems is God there yep God Jesus Christ oh did you just say Jesus Christ yes Jesus Christ is your answer I promise you if you get saved your life will be completely transformed and whatever problems you go or you have or you walk with you won't be alone that is a big promise and that person Jesus Christ that walks with you knows exactly what you're going through and knows exactly what you need now believe it or not we are all God's creatures and this is God's creation but he wants much more than that he wants you to become his child and for that to happen Jesus died on the cross for your sins and mine now I'm not any better than anyone else at all we are all sinners and come short of the glory of God this is for everybody we're all equal at the cross but we need to do something we need to repent from our sins which means to turn away to go to Jesus not to a priest not to a pastor not to a church Jesus is the only one who can forgive your sins ask him to forgive you ask him to save you
and through faith and believing on him on what he's done on that cross he will save you in that instant and you will know that you're saved followed all kinds of stuff from YouTube even brainwashed and stuff like that but you know what when you get saved God doesn't change your mind your brain he does but mostly he'll change your heart so there's no brainwashing there and no I'm not trying to convert anybody I'm not trying to make you become a Christian even if I'd want to it's impossible for me to do all I can do is give you the how-to the message what you can do after that it's between you and God personally you know what I've been saved for 20 plus years 22 years and I was just like some of you I rejected Christ completely Jesus freaks people were talking to me about him get away from me stop talking about that you're crazy I was probably the worst of all but one day I decided to trust him and let me tell you I would oh boy that was the greatest moment of my life the only regret is not doing it earlier now please don't be confused with religion I'm not a religious person the Sadducees and all them were religious people back in the Bible times now all the religions in this world how could I say it in a plain way that you'll understand all the teach is how you can get to heaven by good works or any other way and what an insult and abomination that is God because God did it all by sending his son he did it that's all that needed to be done he sacrificed his son for you and I so that we may live if we choose to I know that some of you will have all the opinions in the world I understand that against the Word of God that it was written by man that we can go up and all that but you know why I don't feel like it but all your opinions will not count at the end only the Word of God will stand and when I say the end you guys probably don't understand completely what it means but saved or not you know there's something wrong with this world and it's not gonna be pretty so my prayer is that you choose Jesus I don't want you to face God being your judge but being your king all right so I want to thank Hays outdoors and AM bushcraft for this it was a lot of fun to do but it was more important to do than fund mental illness is or mental health issues is something that is real but you have hope there's hope out there and I told you three things especially the last one which is the main hope so a lot of you have some choices to make again and I hope you make the right one okay so I'm supposed to tag two other people
but I won't do it better yet if you feel this is an important thing for you to do and you feel compelled to do it go ahead and make a video it doesn't matter if it's 2 or 20 of you or 200 of you the more the merrier I think it's a good thing to do because there's a lot of people suffering out there thanks for watching this is mike linville shot buttons bye [Music]
