okay
a little hard but you want to keep this we got the bed cuts in Josie you like your bed cot now you see the great thing about snow is when you let it sit in you know that's why they they make the Quinn's ease and all stop when you let it set in and let all the oxygen that's in the snow out it does it on itself with weight it becomes like cement so that's why I wait a whole 24 hours before putting these bed cots and you know they're not sinking any we're not going anywhere so it's just the right height why do you think joseline okay so we're just taking a break it's windy stormy again you see me in this like this and this well I'm putting my finger all okay yeah the lens is starting to uh so anyway there you have it the lens is starting to fog up so we're going to just take a little breather a little bit we got some stuff hanging a little bit everywhere
to get out of the way just got a little bit of wood gathered there been enough so our next thing is to hunt some firewood
now you'll be sawing here just music oh okay does your right hand can you so go around me
it's going to move a little bit nice big maple okay so you wanna no longer than this
like here and just ones this one is cut let's take the same measurements well here right yeah I'm gonna take mine man yeah pocket boy yes
actually I know I have more than I have more control with the pocket boy that's the biggest
[Applause]
thank you very much there we go more drift in I'll go get some more more than that nice piece oh yeah this is Mabel yeah that's what we need as much as we can we have some nice long heat yeah no I know that me when I get a buck saw it's gonna have to be my size yes well so there's like I'm putting so much effort because it's probably made for you guys no you just need to get used to it yeah maples always bartered you just take your time and plus this is not just maple it's frozen maple that Wiz is picking up once all the wood is done here [Music]
[Music]
[Music]
yep
why not
winds picking up they're announcing - 21 Celsius and that's without the winds so probably in for a very cold night and while the more is cold easier it is to get these fires going I needed to put an anchor the stove is already you know stuck in there and this in the snow inside the teepee there's big gust of wind there's nothing there's no danger really for it to pop out but it's just a second security [Applause]
[Applause]

all right so a few things I forgot to mention of course the TP or the Teddy Alaskan tent is facing east southeast he got north so with they'll be there you can see the smoke is Northwest it's blowing from the Northwest which is the predominant wind here well mostly North America so we're protected by that and that complete height of the middle of this Alaskan tent is 7.5 feet all the OL details that will come as we go along in this series guys I forget stuff and maybe you already asked that question in the first video and I didn't answer just because well I was gonna say it right sister yeah okay Heights you're - you're beautiful you're beautiful video people so it's a little bit in the ground you let that sit at the end of the day is gonna be like in cement and that's just a place I'll be able to put my jacket I'm gonna do the same on Josie side quickest method let that sit and just put my jacket on there and I'm gonna put one behind the stove where Josie is yeah just about there I'm closer to the stove things that's why I put you there yeah so you're doing pretty good with the wood we're gonna do not quite double that close
I mean it's plenty for the night but because it's only why 11:00 yeah we're burning all day so yeah we're gonna need more and we won't have something for the next time we come out too so okay so this is the lamp that I used to you know fill in the dark and that's why I tell you this around a tree usually but right now I just have tying it around this post even though it's it's cold the post I have a big rubber so we should be okay so I need to do to just tie something simple and just a bow knot will do the trick and then we'll have a light for tonight I can just see perfect you guys see that of course you can't you're gonna wait tonight to see it okay
that's enough of you yeah no work and plus you know what the heat is here so keep my battery nice and fresh uh-huh I think somebody's here that wind yeah you know even with the door open it's nice and comfortable and out there it's very cold did I forget my I forgot my thermometer leave it not in sight there's obviously it's a warm but outside so okay are we set for coffee darling okay let's do this crossing that field it was pretty cold it's gonna get cold or so okay this is not a full coffee just a little coffee before lunch just a few drops each you worked hard okay I can't see but cheers to all my YouTube friends out there and beyond
[Applause]
[Applause]
so for lunch we will be having my wife's wonderful pea soup yeah I think the lens is fogged a little bit anyway and by the way this this spoon was gifted to me a few years back and I can't remember who you are but thank you very much it's actually being used every week not necessarily outdoors but yeah and I think it's spalted maple but I could be wrong but it's very useful and I want to thank you for it ok time to have some channel smell this mmm
pea-soup
phatu Quebec
made in Quebec hey did you make your pea soup on your Cooking Channel people be asking now those who like peace ooh come on help me out guys tell her she needs to hear it oh I'm hearing a lot of them do you hear him what what oh you gonna have to make pea soup ah there's plenty of air ok so it's closed up obviously I need to add some snow bear we got plenty of wood for tonight it's all done I need to draw up this one cuz it went in the river or the creek
Josie is getting very comfortable you see in my pack it looked like a big heavy pack and it was because all I've had is to you know the comfort of a wife yeah
- it's my pleasure and - wool blankets like that and sleeping pads and I mean that's about it and a few knickknacks and it filled up my it's filled up my backpack now I apologize for the mess we just brought a little box but I'd like to get you know those crates those bigger crates could be used for a couple of things you know as a table and bring stuff so I think it'd be a good idea you hanging your knife but folks I know it's like that think I'm gonna take two pieces of wood here so like you know we could have done like the old days or like we used to do anyway had just split a whole bunch of whole bunch of evergreens on the ground but we'll go with the normal I like it this way less work except for carrying stuff anyway so open up our sleeping bag our work is done sister pretty much relaxing now it's relaxing we've been working since eight o'clock yeah eight o'clock and now it's out in the afternoon so we are going to just relax cause it's gonna get dark you know get start early so okay enough of my babbling two minutes and 25 seconds of babbling these people have patience okay I apologize that it's dark but remember that stick now that it's it it's like in cement so I can hang my heavy coat and tonight on top of that's gonna go my pants yeah so why not open up a box a gift I have no idea what's in it it's from mr. Paul and it's for me and Josie now I apologize that Josie is on the screen but she's just beside you so yeah I carried this into the woods make it make it special it's just like early Christmas darling okay put this here oh wow okay I'll read it Paul if you don't mind it's not too long dear Mike and Josie now I take this opportunity to wish you both a peaceful and joyous Christmas I hope the items I've enclosed are useful regarding future trips thank you for your prayers and hard work you put in for your YouTube subscribers Paul I won't say your last name thank you very much for this it was not necessary oh then I see something Josie's gonna like right away if you see her face she's got a big big smile from east to west and that's pretty big look at these for Josie let me let me just show them a second North Face warm gloves wait I'm showing them first oh and they're patented you got some oh yes you do just in time hey oh oh now I've got some of these I've got two actually but not this warm look at the inside of this can you see it it's in fleece Wow this I will wear now it's minus 21 this is perfect perfect then there's a lot of goodies in here what is this yeah this is Josie multifunctional head where Josie oh that's cool you can put it like wow look at all the ways you can put it on sorry for the reflection there good use them now I apologize for this a box opening if you guys but I did promise to do it in front of you guys so it may take a little while oh cool some fishing gear summer nice deadly six-pack
thank you Paul many magnets oh never use these before you guys see that fly-fishing our original trout magnet okay
eighty five piece kit Wow oh my goodness liner yes and you know what see-through lighters Paul you know your thing I love this red oh yes twine bat bank line Bank line you know what Wow
yeah I think can the entire anyway not here in Quebec I have not found Bank line here I always have to order at the outside in the US I mean thank you so much this is always useful Oh Josie I love this cute little thing oh I always forget the name of this Josie what is it yeah yeah but look how cute it is you can hang it on there's a little hook so how's my new bandana it looks really cool here catch Betsy whoa nice okay fishing line michael kors atwood rope fishing fishing oh yes lots of bugs here that balls got great ideas batteries yes sir these are some these will all be used I can guarantee you that
Oh hand warmers 10 pairs everything we needed today yeah it's Paul did you know they were coming out here - 21 Celsius this and these do really work you know if your gloves are not if your gloves are not really warm enough and you get caught in - you can put them in your gloves for a while eight hours of heat no kidding
we use the last coffee and you know what Josie Roma three and one there's 28 in each oh my goodness great that is awesome
Paul thank you very much sir I really appreciate it it's always fun and all these things will be very useful so god bless you sir and thank you very much this is my new banana I need it today turn to your left tomorrow change my look thank you sir hey Josie you got a neighbor what's his name no feminine that's the old Dale by the way by any common Oh 2007 that was your first bushcraft nice and if we can call that way sorry for the post but yeah hey that's a nice way of putting stuff away you're jealous aren't you yeah I'm gonna do the same thing
so we both brought our our British Army bags you know we have a stove we get lazy because they're good for minus 20 and they're not C minus 21 so I'm still gonna have to get up and and get that fire going later on and we still have a bed a therm-a-rest my older two wrists under just for comfort and keeping the poem from the snow a little bit it's gonna be a very comfortable night another cool feature of this tent see the the zip opens from the top to because obviously you know it will get sometimes too hot so instead of opening the whole thing well touch the camera just to let some air a little bit in now this is yellow birch and even though it's in the same family as the birch trees it's completely different in the sense as your paper birch are used to this thing is as dense as maple so I'm doing I'm doing well this nice piece of wood burn is I'm gonna split this in two and there's no special there's no special grain to it as I can see but this thing man is very dense yeah I'm going to split this in two and make some spoons I need to look dryer be sure it's really dry won't put too close to the stove I'll put more at the other end I don't want it to crack but this will be in future videos should be interesting I've made lots of spoons maple is my favorite it's tough but it lasts a long time I don't think I've done some with birch and seer and all that stuff but never with yellow birch so this will be an interesting experiment
yeah
this thing is seasoned almost it's nice it's like it's dark isn't it that's the winter for you but anyway it's a nice season wood it's not maybe not season but it's kind of strange it's a it's a darker color obviously it's not I mean it's dead but it needs to dry up a little bit more we'll see I'm gonna put these away and some other time we'll work on this fill the creek so it's important to take especially if you can you have a stove and bring it in take that ice cos could become a problem so we just snoozed a little bit that feels good to be able to snooze so I'm just well you know what this is all about coffee coffee did you say coffee I said coffee
well it's windy and cold out and I'm happy I'm inside oh this is a you know it's been in teepees and stuff we can pretty much all winter we've done it and but as I've mentioned before we've never really owned so and I'm getting close to 50
Josie is not too far but so far in the wintertime that's all I'll be doing trust me I'm not sleeping on cold snow or anything I'm done with that folks this is the way to go if you can do it if you got harsh winters like us yeah that's another thing Josie loves to camp but in wintertime you know ladies it's up fun we're camping is fun but there's well you like it or not it's cold you wake up in the morning it's cold it's hard it's difficult and the ladies don't want to come because of it or if you have kids but with a hot tent and like this one for to this 10 by 10 I took ten Alaskan is perfect with bed cots we've got bed cots put of stuff there in the middle the stove another reason why I chose this one because I am NOT it's everybody's preference some people like to have the stove in the middle you have equal heat you know whatever but I find it always in the way like this and the door is on this side I have all this space I can put whatever nothing's in the way and this heats everywhere even though it's just here so yeah that's my two cents on that let's give her a little boost because I want coffee you want coffee so yeah if you if you're in the winter at where there's you know cold winters like here and you wanted to have some camping fun with your family your spouse your husband friends and you've never done it this is the way to go and of course I see it's much better than the teepee you know we slept in teepees and I mean that opens space up there it takes you need some everything needs to be closed up and you know keep some heat if you've known me for a while even though the stuff is sponsored to me I still will give the good the bad and the ugly about things so far the tent is awesome I have absolutely nothing to say everything is there it's equipped it's solid it's premium so so far have nothing we'll see at the end of the three months or four months the stove this stove heats like it's almost like a turbine when you it's it's great it's a perfect size but it would need a little bit of improvements the door here this latch you see how it's it's almost stuck now and it's hard to get with your gloves see I mean I mean it works but a couple of times there because when this heats pretty really hot it kind of not got stuck but almost you know I would I would like to see a longer handle something different and this because obviously you'll be where you know using this with gloves see the the friction there of course the heat is you know it not expands but anyway you know what I mean so what see how I have a hard time opening this so this is one thing that needs to be fixed and another thing I would do this is just personal the legs here that's an awesome idea it comes out it's got screws to put your your thing here one thing that you need to do when you install this is to turn your stove upside down put the legs and screw your two pieces of wood because if you don't if I go sideways with that I turn it sideways
these legs will pop out so that's something else that I'm not crazy about they need to maybe put another screw here so we can just to make sure that this is solid never comes out when you try to install but other than that you know there's no perfect stove up there other than that to heat up oh my goodness this thing you'll heat up in seconds and heat your whole place and cook your food but those are just a little tiny things it's no big deal it wouldn't stop me from buying it but yeah see maybe I'll try and do something here to be able to have a see that that's not good you think I got good gloves here but that happens when I heat it up like crazy like this so that's one thing but we'll see after getting the three months okay something cool I can't remember if I show you this but anyway I'll show you again if I did that he thought of is you got four tags in all corners where you just put a rope and you got four sides where you can hang stuff to dry which is really smart usually you can you know people will put two but you put four so that's a great feature okay I just thought of a simple quick fix for this you know if you can see it but it's sticking out a little bit all you need to do is drill a hole and put one of those you know those spring type you see on stoves will should be dangling so I can bring it up and down and that would fix that door so very simple fix shopping with another knife this is a virtuous night yeah it's pretty good in doing my stuff it looks pretty sharp just gonna slice a little bit of this maybe I shouldn't like that's on it yes it's just gonna meet oh it's it's short like this knife I didn't use it for the talking but hey I can put on my carrots right now door knife can be used for anything right yeah let's see this is my like that oh nice bitch knife has its own character that's amazing that's very interesting to me of course this one so I'm just gonna divide them in half I think I'm hungry that amount of vegetables you better be well I didn't bring mine I know me and vegetables I love vegetables okay I could just feed on that yeah I put it there because they're easy to they are all divided in section because you cook them by you know you gotta start with discuses little bit harder any parent yes look you know when it's winter wish you can book some colorful meals here gonna be nice purpose this actually is vegetables I have in the fridge I like so tape so did it just so many vegetables and just makes all kinds of things yeah can you see that vegetables okay I think they seen enough vegetable shopping okay folks how do you crush garlic I had it in a ziploc get yourself a nice piece of wood this is in the ziplock bag don't make a mess now real book craft lady that's gonna be a nice piece to burn - yep awesome hi there and you see that sometimes you get it it goes all over the place right so am I not already here so most people know that but the way you just did it is pretty fancy in a bag with a piece of firewood well you know bigger the better hey that's perfectly cooked by the by the way people if you never used a wood stove before the hardest point is always closer to the chimney there so just a little tip Plus having garlic we have garlic butter
are we garlic people or what yep all the way are we gonna be able to eat all of that tonight I hope you will be able I love vegetables that's gonna leave in no time
I think one of my favorites that's a full plate right there is there any place for meat oh I'm gonna show you the meat you'll see you have some nice ones what's going on there butter sorry I'm sitting down here but this is kind of like a lazy cooking right now figure out a table some house so this lights pretty well I just love this light I mean that's the through night the big headlamp there I use it just for that and it's not on the high at all there's just and it lights everything here that's all we need for now so now you're throwing all your vegetables in that pot of greasy buttery garlicky goodness we're starting with the carrots all right well I have a feeling that's gonna be a long video I hope you guys don't well we try and keep it interesting hopefully it'll be interesting enough well if you want to eat some good meal you know
[Music]
around this first [Music]
wunderbar
I think that winners drunken Phyllis come in okay we need good there got some rice ready over there and here is some beef steak and onions solely and of course we have to open up the the valve a little bit so we can cook a little bit faster and this is just amazing very simple open up the top nice little cool there I mean it was very cold but still it's not a sauna in here
yeah so all that said is that you can this little thing this little guy heat scrutton crazy you can control it nice but you can control the temperature in here nicely with this tent so we are done we got this cooking slowly with onions garlic sauce steak and beautiful vegetables and my wife and rice it's time to eat can you see this clearly it's minus 18 Celsius feels like 25 whoop I just heard I just heard a tree crack okay let's hope we're safe tonight with that wind yeah we'll be fine don't worry but in here it's nice and warm and comfortable now minus 25 is let's see zero Celsius I think is minus or zero Fahrenheit I think is minus seventeen so let's say I don't know minus five maybe Fahrenheit give or take maybe maybe a little bit more between minus 5 and minus 10 so this guy here is doing an awesome job keeping us warm and this whole tent is just great alright so that's it it's time to say goodnight soon and we shall see you in the morning
okay so good morning my dear outdoor people friendly kindly viewers okay so well actually it's minus 27 like feels like minus 27 Celsius so it went down a bit more and now I checked it and in Fahrenheit it's minus sixteen point six in Fahrenheit just to give you guys an idea weren't cold at all I stoke the fire at two o'clock once and if I would have wanted to I could have went right straight to five o'clock in our good sleeping bags and there is still being plenty of coals now the fire as you can see the stove is you know another burn and I'm going to need to empty it is starting to but that's fine I'm only spending one night here okay a few things I need to mention if you've gone if you're going to do some winter camping in a teepee or that took took tents or any kind of tent if you're going to be stationary like I am you're gonna need to do some maintenance as obviously it's snow we have under here and well being that there's snow while it's gonna melt right like right here it doesn't show there but it went down at least two inches you know some they're a little bit behind there so before you leave make sure you fill this place nice with the snow to even up to ground and you know let it sit until you come next time so you'll have a fresh ground now obviously I could you know you could put a plywood and stuff but I'm not gonna start carrying plywood here not have we down here anyway obvious I've been sawing here this is not as close you know to the to the stove a wool blanket probably helped a bit I don't know I want to try different things boughs would help tarp maybe just to keep from the floor from going down as quick maybe you guys have some experience and ideas easy ones if not the best thing is just maintenance also if you want to be warm in here make sure it's all airtight now you've seen around in the first video there's flaps that come out make sure that's all nice and airtight now obviously the door here because we're opening it and closing it the flap outside is not full of snow so I had some cold air coming in last night I mean it's suppertime and stuff and that's not good especially when it's this cold so what I did is I but I brought a whole bunch of snow inside and then
I just pushed it against you know where it's well
where the holes work so yeah right now I'm getting some coffee ready we are going to have that and the continuation is going to be in Episode three because this video is probably long enough anyway oh one last thing if you don't want to disturb the outside flap of the door you can obviously use this zipper and bring it down and go out by there obviously it's a little tighter I'll get to get out but don't put it back up you're gonna flap on the other side here okay on the outside you've got a flap so far the time you're outside if you have to pee or anything whatever you know leave it open the Sun the cold air is not gonna come in that quick and when you come back in then you can zipper up again cuz anyway I don't think you'd be able to zipper right up to the top from the outside so that's another option so make sure before you leave you even the ground everywhere with new fresh snow and I'll be ready for your next trip like us so thank you for watching this is the end of episode 2 guys take care sorry folks it's about to be daybreak right now and we got stuff to do today but let me tell you that traveling in snow uphill tracks recovers completely in minus 27 is not fun huh but the rest was so anyway you guys go out and enjoy the wilderness and we'll see you in episode 3
