we're looking for chanterelles and look at this nice pile in size now we found so not bad for a little five-minute quick harvest hey folks this is Mike from bushcraft Barnes today I have a special guest that you all know video to you and we are going to attempt to build a quick teepee with the tarp and build a little fireplace inside so I hope you'll stay with us good luck well miss my very good pretty good man so this is your spot yeah this is what I come off and well cool ok no I can go now yeah I know I know I know man sorry I'm late so looking good
this is been a good well I know okay I place hi
and one bird faster passive part
we'll wake up because I wasn't sleeping yeah yeah I can get up for one get high because it's an old tarp I'm going to we're going to make a hole here cut it open and build our and of course this tarp was not big enough so we had to use another one tighten up some rocks like you always see us do open up the door there's the door
it was right up to the top so it's easy to go in and that's the inside pretty roomy it's about oh maybe seven by seven something like that that little hold the top here so hey folks so it's starting to rain and in a way we're almost ready but for now my friend Billy just started a fire so we can keep warm as we're working and we covered our stuff we brought so we're all set now it's time to make that kind of a stove so we need to gather up some wood for tonight because it's starting to rain and won't have dry wood for the night to make like a I like an hour sale I care what you think but the thing is what I'm wondering is I guess it would have been better if me what I've put some click just between the rocks because there is so much wind coming in but I will say it's worth giving it a try if we can find then well if it's worth because I've seen there is no clear I have been on the riverbed and there is no quick so I guess it's worth you know just to try give it a try it without click oh yeah without it you know and it's very doable I guess I owe ya there's not enough draught
I don't think and what about thinking just to put another one just right here and it's up so you won't really burn the guitar with two I'm guessing you know yeah mm-hmm one maybe but you I don't know and put more rocks you know just right here and hi aha boy anyway what do you think Mike I think you've done a very good job thank you thank you thank you
all we need to do is wrap it up wrap it up back about that high or no no so not too hard just under the baby of course the higher it is the better you'll get a dress but we don't have that many rocks so we have to do with what you go so let's say higher than this one here yeah just a little bit higher about here okay right it's like this and we'll figure it out yeah okay good job cool yes it wasn't too bad actually wasn't too bad looks like a pile of rocks I know that should work and then we've got our chimney here which is about six to eight inches
you don't want it to make it too big because we're not that far from the fire we don't need that much of a draught you know it needs to come out quickly so then the tarp there's no way in the world that it's going to catch on fire we got two rocks under and then sand on the top so it's impossible so now what we need to do is you know I got some holes here to cover I'll block that with the rock and then put some earth some sand and maybe put another last layer here of rocks and we're going to have to test her so it looks kinda strange but should keep us warm for the night hey we're accumulating right here I need to put another rock here so there's not that much earth that goes in it we're going to bring it just to make sure there's no drafts you know when you have no clay you got to use something else after that this will be the next step I'll show you a little bit next step
is going to put some moss top now the reason why we decided to put some moss is in the event that it starts to really rain this earth here is going to fall apart so with the moss on top like this I mean it won't so as I said before not only will it keep it you know from the water from destroying our earth it's also going to keep it very waterproof in case we did make a mistake and leave a hole somewhere so no water comes in hey this is what let you sit The Hobbit The Hobbit The Hobbit the love it stones though everything included yeah if they're on em is on $5.99 but free shipping I don't think so no I don't think it should be a roast in Canada yeah I think this is gonna work yeah any good I'm pretty sure huh so it took us about what let's say after an hour an hour about it now we're known we're okay now our a little bit of you know screwing around here there and there in bulk and holes but this is going to be very very effective yeah because all the holes are just blocked like you were talking
me like it forget it it's impossible you have to buzz my mouth and plus it doesn't there's not a big rain but this rain does not stop and we're a long wet so a little bit later on we'll be able to dry up in there yeah but I think Billy don't we deserve the coffee you know we deserve a coffee I was just thinking about it and you know that was well just thinking about it Ringo sign yeah okay let's do it let's do it
hopefully it's gonna work hopefully okay so we decided that we tested before tonight I know this looks like it could be a little bit dangerous but actually it's not this is very deep okay so the initial flame yes could come up here but it's going to be blocked by these rocks here once we have our coals and put our put in our dry wood for the night that there's no worries no problems okay this is for the night to keep any coals from rolling on us so what we're going to do is we're just going to test it a little bit this with some birch bark and a little bit of twigs now one thing I have to tell our viewers it's very possible that the smoke is going to come back in for a few reasons first of all the air outside is cold the rocks are cold so we know that cold air goes down so it's normal if there's cold air pushing in like this that there's a draught once the rocks become hot and there's nice coals it's going to automatically have its way out okay let's just SC right now it's pretty equal there's no draft at all so Billy you got your smoke the do it man
so that was not a good sign huh the flame did it move was still no it's normal it's normal and least it needs to become hot in there so there's a big chance that it's going to come back here for now
but let's not lose hope it's going to come in for a little while once the rocks become hot once we got our initial it should be okay so what we're going to do Billy we're going to go out and get some more wood and actually make a fire to see right until the huts become a hot rocks become hot and see if the smoke finally goes out that's what we'll do the up see she's smoking but out of another place here so we need to block that up and the rest is not so bad yeah I think the main the main problem is right here I'm going to block this one up that's one of our main problems almost nothing almost nothing yeah it's not perfect there's little tweaks here and there but we could live imagine quite a long time Billy that's right that's right yeah oh yeah actually we're going to show you the inside that yes it's normal there's just a little bit of smoke coming there but that's that's nothing we always get smoke when you sleep by a campfire anyway and we're on the ground and this thing goes right outside because of the hole but other than that it's working great see there's no flames coming out anywhere because it's deep and once we've got some nice hot coals in there got some nice maple right there it's going to be awesome okay so it's 350 in the afternoon most of the job is done we still have to put a good floor because the floor is like all wet and we're pretty well done now you must be wondering why there's so much wood around the fire we're waiting for a coffee that's because the wood is wet a little bit and we want to make sure it's dried out before we bring it inside so we have some nice dry wood to burn all night you're liking right now whoops not a word given Lily doesn't talk
oh yeah man it's Coffee time just yeah tired sometimes yeah Carson ah
goodwill
because we got to dry up event no one will work like that work ups away and from what if Li Oh
mix it
that's a good that's good that's good enough
oh yeah
hey my friend cheers to our Abbot Houseman obvious of it the natives how shadow give you a little detail of what's in the side now because the ground was wet and it's going to be cold tonight first of all we put some boughs to make it softer and more even also we put a nice tarp you know to to keep the moisture off of us then we have each a thermal rest and then we put a nice little blanket on top so I'll be sleeping there and Billy will be sleeping here and we both have some sleeping bags so we are pretty much all set this stove is working super not even one ounce of smoke is coming in now that's because all the rocks are nice and warm and the smoke has an easy access out no cold air pushing down so it's going to be great at night nice warm and toasty okay so real quick before it starts getting dark so that's the final setup sleeping bag sleeping bag we have our wood and zoom in you let's zoom in with focus we have our wood in between the two of us so at night we just have to shove it in our stove our fireplace which is you know two feet away from the wood so there's no problems there we have a rock look at that there's not one ounce of smoke coming in and it's really nice and toasty here man this is going to be really cool so this is going to be probably the final scene for inside our lovely home
okay so right now it's time to have supper before it gets dark our tepee or home is ready but we're so into the tepee that well it's my fault I forgot everything at home anything that you can cook with because I usually tonight we're having what I call my triple B me triple beeped meal bacon beans and Bannock but we have not much to cook with I got my GI cup so the idea is we have to improvise I'm going to cook the bacon in here and of course we could have used a stick you know like I usually usually cook the Bannock on the stick but it's getting dark and we're too far away from any live hardwood sticks so we don't have time for that so what we're going to try we're going to use the GSI kettle I'm going to cook this once it's cooked I'm going to put a little bit of bacon grease in here put my Bannock close it up and just leave it over the fire and let it rise and cook and hopefully it's going to work you got no choice right Billy we got to eat that's right
Oh what's with the Bacon's oh we got bacon
Vanek
and beings and beings so after that's done then I'll pour the beans in one of the Banach cooks anyway we should be okay yes we will you know I'm a pretty good gift son you know I'm not very picky guess
I'm so happy you're not picky guess okay so we have enough grease from the bacon we'll just put a little bit so we can start our Bannock that should be good you know what hmm going to give a good taste or banning so hopefully this is going to work and did I tell you that we're doing this in the rain that's okay that's okay now the only little problem that I may see happening the bottom part is wider so if it widens like this and it doesn't cook from the top I won't be able to take the Bannock out but you know what Billy I think we're gonna have to eat half of it oh really yeah it'd be too big okay that's wiser yeah you don't mind my dirty hands
did you watch your hands my mom told me to wash my hands it'll get bit or it'll give you some good bacteria that everybody lacks everybody gets sick per year
okay so as you can see I decided to go with the old type of cooking plank cooking because I didn't work out well in the GSI kettle for many reasons but this way we'll still be able to have some some good Bannock later on so you don't want to have too many flames I got nice coals here in front mmm cook it slowly and then we'll turn it turn around add coals as we go okay so we finished eating the bacon the Bannock is getting there looking nice and our beans are heating up slowly but surely so we made it
finally inside it's nice and comfy and I'm opening the camera because it'll be the last time today or tonight because we'll be going to bed soon nothing's going wrong everything is good just give you a last look at how we are set up so Billie stuff is there really I know you got your what you call music a bush oh yeah my Oh Monica I'm Monica oh my soulmate
maybe we'll open it one last time later and this is my setup here made myself a little and I'm gonna put my bag in the middle we got lots of place in the middle here with our stuff and of course or fire is doing very well indeed I can feel the heat from here so as soon as Billy decides to play music oh there you go
good morning Billy Boy you're still alive yeah well it good to see you boy thank you for you light my face yeah don't worry I'll try on me see if I can find myself - okay oh it's not so bad here I can absolute okay well anyway we're up right now and it's cold right out of wood of course but it was pretty good anyway but I guess nothing beats a proper a proper what is it Billy oh man prospector Tosh Spectre 10th guys prospector ten if you can do it okay so we got some stuff to do thank you again for coming along in this small adventure but a lot of fun and we'll see you in another video some other time hopefully
