what if you're stuck out here you have no purification tablets you have no means of boiling or water and you're thirsty is there a natural way that you can create a filter to make this water safe to drink now this is the idea what I call my birch bark purifier alright i went ahead and done everything just to save some footage first thing you're going to want to do is make yourself a fire while you're going to look out for some birds bar why because you're going to need some Torico all right now the three main ingredients and you're going to need to make this filter is charcoal sand and grass now what you want to do first is find yourself start a fire find yourself burt's a birch tree all right dead preferably or or live I mean when you're in your a survival situation it doesn't really matter your life is more important in the tree you want to cut yourself a 4 10 14 inch piece square piece of birch bark take it off roll it up until you have a little hole there that's about about five cents in diameter right now you want to tie this up nicely now I use some jute twine you can use paracord you can use whatever natural quarters you know about you know a screw through I was just too lazy to do it but make sure you tie this nice and tight because once you start pouring water in this it's going to be heavy and you don't want this to open up all right the two main ingredients that's going to purify your water is a sand and a charcoal San can be found anywhere by a river bank or if you're by a lake the grass is there for two reasons now first of all you're going to put at the bottom here all right four to five rocks about three-quarters of an inch in diameter that's the first thing then you're going to put it layer of grass thence and then charcoal then grass thence and then charcoal right you have six layers in all now the grass is there for two reasons the one at the bottom here the layer of grass is half the bottom is there so the sand doesn't go down and block block the hole here so the water doesn't come out now the rocks are there for a reason once your water is purified it will make it easier to come out the second reason the grass is there is that you don't want the charcoal to mix with the sand why because if they mix the charcoal will not be as effective and the sand will not be as effective that's why the charcoal is always at the top remember grass sand charcoal grass sand charcoal alright

so it looks like all right let me set this up I'll show you how it works all right now you're playing your yourself a way to set it up so you're both of your hands are free obviously if you can find another container with you you want to use the same one or you can make yourself a birchbark container you know use your imagination we can go and have any containers there's another thing you can do you can use this filter take a piece of your sweater put it on top cover the cold and everything so it doesn't come out and find some falls there in the river and just you know pour the water through it and then pour it under your mouth now the first water that you're going to put in here not be the same amount that will come out and it's normal because the sand will absorb most of the water and I have already done that all right that's totally okay after that and gladly follow all those half fold and just for it

I just poured a little bit in it see it's coming out slowly which is good if you see this coming out like a faucet there's a problem with your filter all right

now we know and if you can find a riverbank that's nice and sandy you could dig a hole and wait you know about a foot or two feet from the river and wait for the water to come up that's long in the place like good it's just rocks so I can't use that method here and this I started walking all over the place so this is a pretty cool method and it's going to work great well anyways it beats having to drink straight from the river or the lake thanks for watching guys like them to chef party fuck you

you
