I mean guys I'm Dave Canterbury with self-reliance Outfitters in the Pathfinder school back with another in our series on five minutes to better bushcraft today we're going to make a pot hanger to go underneath our tripod all we need to do is go out to the woods with our saw and cut two forks that are fairly close in size and then just a little bit of knife work and some cordage and we'll be five minutes away from a nice pot hanger stay with me okay we want is this when we're finished so that we have something that will hang either direction hang the pot off of it we can dress it all up and make it look pretty later so the first thing we decide is what we're cutting off so we got our links together as far as how far we want this to be tied down then we can basically just turn one side over so that we never cut in the top I'm gonna soccer about half way through the material come in with our knife and split it off just like that and don't worry about it if it splits off a little bit wonky on you don't worry about that it's not a big deal lay that on the other side figure out what you're gonna cut it off to cut up that right there make sure it's straight see the material split that side off just like that we leave the two sides together we're gonna trim this down where it sheared off kind of trim the other side short on purpose tough mark on that dude lay it in here like this and that's what we're gonna lash up done we'll have a same lashings as before

pretty much when you start with the timber hitch or we can just do a loop wrap where we take the loop put it into the line and wrap up the loop just like this and this is probably the simplest and most effective method of doing this is just to wrap it up the line it's gonna get hung up on you a little bit just wrap it up that loop keep it getting tight there you get to the top come around to the other side here as much stuff in my way to get the rest of that in careful not to overlap too much stuff yeah there we go bring it all the way to the top of that split just like this we get to the top of that split the last wraparound is gonna go through the eye just like that that we created and then we are going to pull that down through just like this I got the right toggle around that dude to get a good grip on it a little short screen here we can burn that if we want to do neat things up and we can carve these notches a little better if we one - as far as rounding this off rounding this off rounding this off and we have something to hang with off our tripod now I'll show you how that works right now okay so now we have got our loop that we tied we put one into the top and then we can't take our Bush pot and hang it on the bottom then again we can adjust up and down but we have a secure connection here and we can always lift this out of the loop to pull this off the fire so we don't necessarily have to handle the hot bail very very convenient ways you can also use this for a galley pole or cross pole you can hang it across that as well doesn't necessarily have to be on a tripod just a quick and dirty project 5 minutes or less okay guys well I'm Dave Canterbury with self-reliance out here in the Pathfinder school I appreciate you joining me for another project in our five minutes to better bushcraft a simple pot hanger no muss no fuss a cup of Forks I'm stirring it a couple of notches and you're done I apologize that this series seems very basic but I'm trying to go back to the basics and pick up on small easy projects that can help you build a toolbox for bushcraft over time that don't take very long to pick up or learn I appreciate your views I appreciate your support I appreciate everything you do for our school for family for business all of our sponsors instructors affiliates and friends and I'll be back another video in this series as soon as I can thanks guys
