afternoon guys Dave candidate the Pathfinder school out here with another series or another video in the series of the 21st century long hunter what we started talking about yesterday when we talked a little bit about food and we can learn a lot about what food you need to carry on the trail to help sustain you by what the long hunters and frontiersman carry to the 18th and 19th century what we're going to do today is we talked a little bit about pemmican we've talked a little bit about corn meal or corn flour we've got some corn flour over here that I've put a mixture together with that we're going to use to make us some Cajun flavored hush puppies and we're going to use that same tallow that we have rendered down that we're going to boil the hush puppies in once we get that done we fry the hush puppies and I should say once we get that done we're going to use that same towel to make pemmican so stay with us we're going to have a good time today and we'll be right back okay guys stoking this fire up now we got this rendered tallow pretty hot not sure if it's hot enough yet for what we want to do but it's getting close so I've just got another half a quart freezer bag here filled with yellow corn flour and again this is the self-rising kind but it's also got some other mixtures in it it's got some cayenne pepper in it it's also got some other seasonings in it and I can't tell you how much that stuff to put in you kind of have to do that just you know with your own experience and your own feel because I don't really measure stuff I just do it but what you're going to do with this is about the same thing you did yesterday I'm going to pour water in this get yourself a doughy mixture and then we're just going to drop them right in this hot towel oh just like grease and fry them and pull them out so we'll be right with you okay guys so once we've got our tile heated up the temperature we've got our bag mixed with water and what we're wanting is you know pretty much like Jeremy set a putting type consistency in here and then all we're going to do is take our spoon and dip us out a wad basically you want that stuff to kind of stay together on the spoon because when you drop it in it's going to start frying immediately

and just let it fry and tell us a golden-brown and you got the hush puppy as we flip them over one time when I'm cooking them it doesn't take but a few seconds you might have to move your pot off of that fire if you've got our good hot fire a little bit you get it out of there and when you're done that's what you're going to have let's sit down aside and make a few of these see how they turned out you want that fire good and hot ride this six seven beautiful hush puppies sitting right there for Jeremy and I to share golden-brown looking good we're about to eat them up and see what they taste like let them cool for a minute all right brother you ready give this a try yes I am let's get him get a mate's it tastes like me watch the fluffy on the inside
