afternoon guys I'm Dave Canterbury with the Pathfinder school we're gonna do today is we're going to make this small friction folding knife and we're going to make it from a single piece of rebar a broken file and a 16 penny nail when we're done we're going to have a nice little folding knife that can be made for practically nothing this is scrap yard stuff this is just junk ten inch piece of rebar broken file a 16 penny nail it's gonna make this knife all right so they've got a few pieces of broken file here really toss up which one to use they're all just about the same way this was a little shorter doesn't work they're gonna take this one you just kind of shape the way we want already here

I gotta tell you this whole holding hike thing is getting to be a good mind challenge especially for someone who's dyslexic but that's okay so I ground this down a little bit to where I think it needs to be now yeah I believe that I can pin this here fold this handle back this direction the blade will go underneath the handle when it's folded and the handle will actually come up and hold it here as a locking device to hold it over I think I'll probably have to cut my handle off just a little bit probably little bit too long for that but I think that's where I'm gonna go with it so I'm gonna have to pin it here first of all figure that part of it out and then go from there okay we've got our initial grind in here on our fixture got a video on this gal custom fixtures what I call it after the guy who I learned it from but got that done we gonna flip it over and then we're gonna fit pieces up and see what we're at alright like I said it's pretty to be a bit of a challenge for a dyslexic yeah but our locking mechanism and it's right now I'm using something the whole thing stationary with there I may even use that for my rivet $1.00 but our locking mechanism is gonna be our handle which is gonna be fitting around they come back here and be cut off you know sit right here to lock the blade in a friction hold position and going backwards then we want to pull into here up into the handle like this remember our handles gonna be up over the top of this thing so we're getting pretty close to where I want to be now it's taking a lot of grinding and ciphering to get it done okay

it'll be easier the second time it always is

now we know we want this blade to line up right here which means we're gonna have to cut this thing about right here and I'm not going to take a chance on cutting this with anything but an angle grinder because it'll be much quicker and more accurate that way all right so this is the basic foot up that we're looking for we've got some adjustments to make still yet and the blade will fold in this direction like this we'll have to make a few adjustments yet to the handle to make that happen and also to make it safe so this blades not exposed but we're getting there
