we looked at this cook said this is very similar to what a Boy Scout cook set would look like maybe even been a Boy Scout cook set for all I know but there's no logos anywhere Horning this cook set is a u.s. Forest Service cook set this also came off eBay this set was sixty-two sixty-three dollars I believe with the shipping so it's double the price of the set we looked at before a it comes in a canvas patch with a drawstring it has a wash basin tight bowl for washing the dishes it has three aluminum plates pipe and style place the lid material for the pots themselves is much much heavier duty and thicker than the lids for the pots and the other cook set it has full aluminum cups and three aluminum shallow bowls this Bale handle just like the other one snaps in and out so it's not permanently connected it can be taken on and off the material of this pot and the top is inside the bag are much thicker material or heavier material than the pots in this set this pot is about the same thickness as the most outer pot on this cooks it has another large pot that's about the same thickness again with a bail handle that can be taken in and out if needs to be in a fairly tight fitting lid this one's a little bit looser it'll come up but you're not going to stay on there this pot plug been used quite a bit sooner than the larger pot has but it does have the two nesting pots it does not have this large pot like this one however it does have another distinct advantage of having not one but two sheet steel skillets while aluminium but sheet steel with folding hannah's pretty heavy-duty both of the handles can be spread out and folded under but for stacking in the kit you can also take the handle completely off because it's spring-loaded so you just take someone and take the handle completely off just stack it inside the kit and then this is stacked up inside but you have the distinct advantage with this kit of having to steal skill so now again I can break this kit down to my knees and just take the one pot the 1/2 quart size pot one of the folding skillets and put that in my pack or I can mix and match if I want to and that's generally what I do I'll take one of the sheep folding skillets and I'll take the coffee pot or bush type pot out of this one to go with this and I'll leave the rest of this stuff be unless I'm going on a family trip then I can easily support my family for lots of cooking needs with this set this US forces and it's much more robust in nature because of the thickness of the material and the type of material used it's much more robust than this one is again it costs twice the money but there are advantages to this kit over the other one

it has everything you need basically to feed a family and then for twice the price the materials heavier for twice the price and you have two sheet steel skillets that come with the kit for twice the price and a heavy duty canvas bag so there's advantages and disadvantages to what you buy and you really have to just kind of keep your eye on what's out there like I said both of these kits came from eBay both of these kits combined cost less than the price of any titanium cook set out there and there's way more advantages to this than don't ever be - titanium so I want you to realize that aluminium is still a a viable cook tight material as well as sheet steel in today's world but for the wood crafting era this stuff would be exactly what they would have had these type of implements are what they would have carried whether it was Daniel Baer Thomas Sutton Horace Kephart Warren Miller doesn't matter who it was in that period these are type items they would have been carrying so if you're trying to emulate that wood crafting lifestyle this is the stuff that they would have carried now understand that they would have built everything else or wood crafted everything else for their cooking kitchen type setup whether it was a large Chippewa type kitchen set up for a group of people or it was just too upright forks with a cross Nick and some pot hangers they would have built all that stuff from available landscape material this is what they would have carried if they were walking alone they would have very much likely carried something very simple like one folding handle skillet and pot and possibly an aluminum cup inside the pot maybe if they really wanted to get fancy probably not a plate if they were walking in a multiple party then easily they could have used this for two to four people by just adding a couple cups I cut the balls of plates inside this kit and it wouldn't it taken up a lot of room in their pack nor weight a lot because that's the advantage of aluminum the most heavy weight thing you have here are these sheet steel skillets okay real quick guys I know someone's going to ask me this question on this video so I'll answer it now someone's going to say Dave of the three materials titanium aluminum or stainless which would you prefer if you could only have one and on my answer to that is stainless steel I'll give you the quick short reason for that stainless steel is going to be more durable over time than titanium when it's exposed to heat from an open flame it's not going to work it's going to be more debt resistant scratch resistant than aluminum so it's much more durable than aluminum over time and it's going to do everything I need that cookware to do make medicine disinfect water and cook food in more than passable fashion it's available it's not that expensive it's a good middle of the road between the two a lot less expensive than titanium a little bit more expensive than aluminum stainless steel would be my choice I'm Dave Canterbury the Pathfinder school I appreciate joining for this video today I thank you for everything you do for our school for our family for our family business for instructors sponsors affiliates and Friends I'll be back with another video soon as I can thanks guys [Music]
