so we have a large container here and on the bottom of dr. Tanner we have attachment device it's just got a jar lid screw going to up our mason jar and some holes punched in the bottom we got it underground we're going to fill it with that word that we just split now to extract a pine tar all right so we got this thing stuff pretty well with firewood now now we just got to build a fire around it and seal it off with a lid we want to basically create a chart type chamber and as it heats up and the targets tractors from behind it will drip down into our catchment area all do this but I'm gonna explain what we're going to do and you guys work as a team then we're going to get this thing lit up saved a couple pieces start a fire with okay we'll get a fire started what we're going to do is put the lid on this and we're going to char it just like we did with our char cloth okay so we can't let any air and we put a couple rocks on top make sure wait it down we're going to build a fire over top of this whole thing just like we did with the char with our charred punk wood earlier we're going to build a great big old fire all the way over top this is going to go over top of this whole one I'm gonna have you guys fill this in a little bit more to where it has a nice base and to where the fire or there's no real airspace in between here to keep this jar cool we want the jar to be cool so that way as this cooks down it's going to cook the SAP out of this wood and make the nine retardo boom it'll drip into that jar and we'll collect it at the very end okay tilt that thing a little bit line let's see that continue yeah container is completely full a black pine talk they'll see that butter once we get everything cleaned up here there's a room that's of our fire over there oh man yeah so that's who's that 12 ounce jars 12 ounces to hear something since I got 14 ounces of solid pine tar in here and now we use this this could be used an aseptically topically as a medication out of the stands could be boiled down even further and made into pine pitch or pine tar for patching and repairing or can be used as is mixed in with soap to make pine tar soap tomorrow in our class continues
