my name is Michelle my first name is Dave the last name is Mitchell and so whenever my nickname was and so like on the back of my jerseys for football and whenever all submit and it's actually funny because when I met my wife everyone was calling Mitchell all the time that she got Mitchell all of a sudden one day a friend of mine I hadn't seen in years he's like hey Dave Bowman we'll go blah and she woke up she was like who's Dave he was like what do you mean but she's like he's your move Dave yeah I've been dating her flex six months but I thought people more my name is David Malan it's I just never even yeah I don't usually introduce myself with the whole pretext my name really is once in a while I'll get the let's see your parents say to you Mitch Mitchell like no that's not really its production a whole student was this did you hunt it or do you just yep
[Applause]
so much make a bowstring wood out of the hide No
that's how snowshoes take the hide and you put in for a strip soak it and you take walk I saw a native use two poles I guess you could do two trees or whatever it was losing his house you know I think that's no fun well predict that my cell phones and yeah so you just tie it off on one you go to the other tight and you go around that six feet apart you go all the way down single strand tied to the end good nice and tight and then as it dries it's called the beach when it's like coming through that huh I got to wear some snowshoes like that damn Jesus you're out of control growth Wow yeah people unlike eBay you can still buy a pair flat 60 bucks the old way I was really fortunate I even found a smaller pair kid-sized resources yeah well I mention it because if you have that hide yeah well yeah I get access to all the time [Applause]
please go
bring it I like I decided everyone's didn't have one with you you're not wrong
whoo that's having a nice color yeah skull candy head right on yeah nice little 10 yeah it's a coupe Russian sweet threads and I drove the hole right in the side see you my time did you hold stop and go back in any other lineup and it's waterproof again yes all right so when I go check out Dana's camp now I'm gonna make the rounds of the camps Hampton rounds
low profile look at this note the candles for ambient light right two of them one on each side look at that huh got a little fire pit setup that's cool man rockin the wood toggles yep always rocking the wood toggles cool you got plus stick on that yeah rustic an orange yeah sure hi vaids coming out the back so I don't trip over it mm-hmm interesting talking to loop through a bowline yep right on fire right setup yeah yeah you're gonna be toasty in there yeah you don't need to get a little more wood but a couple wool blankets very cool looks like an innocent I whole blanket and that's funny I got it from lost wild outdoors I think yeah that's a surplus Italian blanket yeah I think so yeah that's what I base my blankets all it's in 90% so that one the one that I'm using as the base is like 70 so right on figured I'd use that protect the tarp and right get the final wrap yeah my blanket is the the Italian as well I was actually looking at yours a little while bellroy and I didn't really have the money for it
Yeah right on I have velcro on the side and down the bottom yeah which I really liked I still may pick one up from you but I appreciate though because I do I watch your channel and stuff like that come on really yeah thanks cool I was rootin for yawn alone in the first season like it was I was just starting to get into bushcraft and I'm like this one person I know about at all nice I was rootin for you that's sick man thanks
so I was pretty stoked to hear that you were coming out camping with us right on well very cool thanks man yeah this is a very cool little camp yeah thanks I've never done the low profile setup before first time right yeah first time low profile first simply been on sticks you know saw that before brows bad yeah yeah yeah it's gonna be good besides your head gonna be on probably that's yeah yeah cuz that's what the fire is the fire I faded the fire a little bit this way you know and the I patted like where my core is gonna be on the bed so nice oh well more than the rest of it it's windy today so you're gonna be sitting pretty good yeah that's kind of what I think and the wind is coming so over there is where the pond is so the way he's set up is the right way to be set up because the one's gonna be ticking the smoke that way away from him yep you know what's up yeah good stuff man yeah thanks man right on oh right now the wintergreen it's a delicious little nibble wintergreen everywhere
hell of a stuff no num nums I love that it's so good alright who's next well that's my camp you guys already seen that mm-hmm right on all right who's next
I'm doing a walkthrough of the camp's gym is though we're all set up over here building our lawn fire so Shane Micah and Jimbo set up over here [Music]
yeah get it done use the stop as you're cutting beats what did ray save all cutting wood it warms you three times yep yeah
well three times it warms you let's say it warms you cutting it when you cut it when you carry it when you carry it when you burn you burn it yeah since your rig this half lava on the right yeah you are such a stud look at that damn BAM growls bed yeah it looks good yeah dude but the whole thing for the half lobby when you do this is having this grommet because within eight foot piece of bank line you can tie a tripod hang the lab ooh and hang your Lantern BAM doesn't look pretty but did you put that grommet in yeah yeah that's on of mine I put a wood button in mine oh I have a little button it's inside this um this little pocket I put it right in there for my live right over there it's tied off from the wood button yes six setup rope love it damn alright next hey Jim Jim what which spot is yours over here you mind if I film it okay this looks like it is half of a pump just half of a pup tent Jim is this half of a pup tent army tent yeah right on nicely done man six out up I love the vintage rope another browse bad just like the fire can go right here this is Mike his rig is his pack basket earlier seems set up half of a pup tent no bed yet they'll have one at all I don't know [Music]
hey Malcolm I'm gonna go check out your camp okay right on what is it a war ball in it you wanna sure I'll be great yeah baby let the battery sit in the Sun yeah go get me there we've got enough juice that's cool I should keep my batteries on my inside pocket try to keep them warm so what do you got here man war bonnet hammock old school light can vice penned by y'all Levitt I think of this that's the hammock I know I mean that's all the time talk yeah your own patented cam other things and you have oh yeah but uh yeah so what is this that's made by slug pack yep it is a mystical the cocoon nope it was pretty much like a top coat and on the coil all in one all and then love it there and then I have a JB Henning woodsman JB hat JB's hammock head with the hammock on I nobly use the hidden Woodman um oh yeah I normally use the wall bonnet hammock but I want to try this one oh yeah for the first time I gotta justice off case it rains on me I don't get wet yep yeah ultralight it's really nice we'll pack that I'm working on
I'll scream about 35 liters good stuff man no can I keep you nice and warm at you know freezing temps yeah things like a floating floating tent as it closes on the side totally make like a whole camp look at that I love that dude yeah I mean dude if you were flying this hammock three inches off the ground like I do next to the fire you know you can do it you drop this down all the way to the ground you'd be in a tent but in a hand awesome if you really tricky fight for two tens - yeah because thing crazy very cool I'm just checking out your setup is that half of a pup tent you have over there yeah just just a US Army half shelter yep
yeah eight bucks or whatever at this at the flasher at west springfield army barracks oh yeah solid yeah nice little setup back there I feel to do my jobs back yeah saw posted yeah only takes couple minutes yeah I got I brought my my babies hacking my Rosie so everything else is just kind of bonus you don't look like it's all nice in a whirl and everything but I'll be fine like maybe I'm not expecting that for like 30 it's gonna be 40 tonight sure oh really - that sauce is gonna melt them yeah mmm good to know yeah it
pretty it feels like it's freezing right now it's right inside here so I'm protected by the wind yet I'm still right in the middle of camp right it's my shelter and I usually just keep one button one button connected it's a little fiddly while holding a camera there this throw this off to the side all right so there's my door open you can also unstick that and do the same thing half half of it open it's definitely roomy inside you know what I'm gonna put on infrared all right so is there's a shot inside it's plenty big in here and I'll show you later but I throw down my blanket I was like a carpet inside of the floor and I throw my kit on one side all my stuff I sleep on the other side my feet towards the door my Sigma bag and everything will go right on top it's really simple set up avenues that for years and years and years [Applause]
so much I was like so so drilled when this time this house has the two wood stoves big wood stoves yeah one in the garage one in the room downstairs that the back room downstairs then it's got the big fireplace you know it's got like this was gonna be my office it's got a whole brick face and then they got the you know I'm not even sure you might know what the call but you know where you store the wood so it dries out while the fire is going it looks like an oven but it's in the wall but I've seen those but I didn't realize that they were there to dry the wood oh I wish I saw that they were ovens people weren't using properly yeah yeah it's too dry the widow oh well you mean like the big kind of alcove we got staff the wood inside up those are nice built into the brick built into the brick but it's got a lock box in the garage so if you have wood delivered they unlock the box and a load the fireplace from that from the garage so you don't have to carry the firewood through the house and then I grew up my one of my best friends growing up his father we used to have Paul the wood yeah because we're like the kids you know so like a couple chords will get dropped off already split yeah not like a pile Hall to me big pile and and so the basement window was was able to be like unhooked from the inside I just taken out right and so we stuff to do a wheel barrel at a time right I'll bring it over and then you just dump it right into the window all right and the second but two of us one guy whoever other guys sitting there just talking him inside the window of the basement yeah so this whole mountain of wood would be a mountain basically inside we do like half of it at a time get tons of it and then go downstairs have to stack it all against the wall and it was an all-day project yeah I always yeah hey guys so they have a place where if they bring in the firewood yeah stacked on a pallet there's a place right near next to it the box yeah fought the pallet to go with the stacked firewood that's crazy and then I guess when the inspector was coming in
he's like one of the state inspectors he's not just a regular I'm inspector yep I'm gonna make sure you're in the frame while you talking yeah you are he's just a state inspector yeah he's a home inspector but he's also a supervisor for the state in that whole state inspectors some building inspector and all that sure she was telling me I guess he goes he goes this fireplace that went all out on well he goes this has got the really thick double wall steel so it radiates the heat in but he's got cold air vent on the floor and it's got vents up on top so it uses convection to bring up yep success it'll throw like ten times more heat than its standard fireplace it's awesome yeah I've seen I mean saw one in Maine that had a fan 2 fans built-in yeah so as the heat comes off it turns on and it helps they've been doing this once this designs different that seemed like overkill to me I didn't like that idea but it's still pretty cool that people can go that far on their dining or fireplace
yeah soon this one here it's so heavily built that they felt that if you broke that you know you got a problem fixing it and the second thing was it was designed so that if you lose electricity that you don't have to worry about heating the house exactly that's what that was - this was a camp in Maine that ran off a propane basically yeah and so yeah they had electricity but it you lose it a lot all right if that happens you get your water from the lake up which is right there like the guard leads to the lake and you can just fall back on the fireplace right they didn't have a wood stove in there just a fireplace so we have the pellet stove upstairs and that one's brand-new another shock because it's sticking out of square feet on the first level and I was just shocked the house was like they had it up to 92 in the fire box and the pellet stove is only like this big it's really small but I guess they're so efficient now can't I cannot for me interesting it was like almost the size a loaf of bread the area that the fire was I'm gonna meet my right and I bought it wood stove a couple years ago Scandia double door open with a single door on the side that logs in GUP thing is so epic I haven't set it up yet right to buy a house maybe maybe next year time of the year after I'm gonna install it and that's gonna be my my furnace go you know it's it's like 600 pounds right and you know it's kind of hard to feel like you know like I have it out like my storage space right now it's like what are you doing with a wood stove you're not used and this is crazy talk to work yeah but that's like the furnace to my house right they usually cost $40,000 about it for $150 used I took it out of somebody's house before they sold it like III burned wood in this stove I know it works yeah this is my furnace to my house like I don't need a furnace that means I can buy a cottage that's a three-season there's a half one and now I prop that in putting some insulation boom right so yeah it's pretty cool I'm slowly preparing everything so once I you know I'm hoping maybe if I cottage in Maine a three season as it cheap you know like 60,000 to to a hundred thousand right and I'm just converting it over to Paul was converted a full season into a full time house I'll probably add add like a bedroom in each side right off the thing so I said about one or two will be like a four or something with an office or whatever and I'll probably make a a little a small cabin like like Thoreau had a single room very small two windows with a little fireplace right so I can so I can write some a writer and so I could just have like my myspace to like right you know doing what I need to do whatever it is well it's write books or you know design classes or design gear or I don't know it's gonna be off grid cabins somewhere
I'm hoping to get some land and be next to a lake and stuff so we'll see how it happens that's my that's my eventual ghost once the house is all done once we get it all fixed stuff because of some stuff that doesn't eat small small stuff but it doesn't need some work so we kind of act really working off Haven because the house did involve a FHA VA loan so we had to go with conventional but I had so much money down that it worked out really well for us so that's the next goal is I want a small cabin something's near a lake with the screen I want to be by a stream with moving water and so we can do the hydro thing and the solo thing so you know we want to you know we do you know have it off-grid enough that it's not temporary you know you also have that be the stream to be going down a hill right so the gravity of it's speeding up all right we'll give the pressure you need to be able to have pressure out of your pipes right I think Steve Rinella
yeah who has meat-eater podcast and meat-eater youtube channel and TV show [Music]
very epic outdoorsman conservationist written books as well I don't want to walk he has a cottage cabin up in Alaska and that's that's what he has just forced water from the stream because it's gravity-fed he's done he's done a lot of cool things so check him out - Steve Bernal now something like that would it be like I go shine shine shine caramel shine little side them at the same yep I think I'm down to one minute so they forget around so so your house is epic
I got to go hang out we're gonna go hang out in your woods and it'll be cool yep right on
to do something eventually he's watching like a ball little candle holder or hold your candle [Applause]
all right so give me a rundown this is a little dude you mean in a clay looks like a Nintendo character huh it's a play card man you could sell those all day long
I was thinking about opening Etsy shop I'm not gonna lie but did you can sell right on Instagram DM me have them PayPal gift you alright telling you man that's how I started my business stuff like that I have to get more clay first but he's gonna backpack on side pockets I'd paid 30 bucks for that it's a Derek Mitchell it's like it's add a rock on his back that's what they do at the heavy color beside all you get better sick dude awesome so you cooked it in the oven you said yeah its scope you like you bake it for like 20 minutes and hardens up on he's like my wife makes these like beautiful side job mmm oh my god if you really wanna know man I'll teach you how to how to do like oh you showed my phone I can do that's right now is everything you actually brought to the campsite oh yeah did you bring those chairs there's a forgot em it's okay I was gonna bring like three or four Shane's gonna change in a knock up a couple of a frames for us to sit on and we'll just use plain cakes and stuff yeah he has a half a shelf of tape I've totally forgot about I was gonna bring house every single panels for you guys to I just I had such a long day yesterday very cool man yeah there's your branding data right that's like your there's my totally sell those things funny bug oh no you know me give me link than you do I'll share everybody's trying to buy it yeah I'm not I wouldn't be ready to sell but I'm Dana's day off on Instagram so cool there you go guys check it out sweet I mean Shane just follow these tracks
going right into this rock face right here yep
that is something's house for sure it's like like they dug inside too I'm gonna switch to infrared real quick yeah okay so now we're in infrared and that's deep dude that goes down goes to the right and goes down yeah it does yeah that's it then it keeps going impressive I got another exit on the outside impressive very nice yeah might be Fox it's hard to tell because it's sold but it has the the narrow shape little fox I think Shane's right I think is a box yeah that is oh great they're booms perfect seats love it I'm gonna go push that over and cut it yeah [Laughter]
[Laughter]
oh this stuff is good man yeah [Music]
nice nice old man yeah yeah exactly this Hill is this one's if this Hill felt good
exactly oh yeah good stuff what's up YouTube he's digging this stuff of what guys like seeing this stuff while we collecting cutting it all that
it's getting kind of waddle off close the bottom coming to move on it's like solid all the way through nice I Spy something dead standing over here look at this place Wow you guys gotta see this
do you see what's behind us we're on a ledge
you'll run a stone ledge and it's like a cliff over here check this out guys oh my goodness
this means Shanon working over there too bro you got to come see this [Music]
yeah man yeah yeah opens up over there - looks like you know didn't see those until the Enbridge has a nice flow to it I love it too the ants blog Rafi over here is so cool this goes right into the pond where camp on this is feeding the pond this site old cherry trees ledge really old cherry trees yeah these are cherry looks look at the license out which stinks down like that and the barks not feeling it doesn't pop it's a deciduous tree so it's not balsam fir it's not birch there's a pinch area in my dad's house yeah it might be in one of my 14 videos in like six years ago this is a cool spot huh yeah this is a good spot man is where I would set up camp you have to be right next to water mm-hmm filter water my camp would be up here up here right up from the wind right there's my five hit would be right there and I would have a path going down here probably build some stairs or slack water at a flat rocks your own down to the water
yep mm-hmm it is you know a bigger water to collect and it comes off in that direction somebody's a bunch a bunch more over there you see so such a cool spot this is like perfect little mini parking spots here a little more okay I found a dead standing oak right there so I think I'm gonna take that down I'm gonna check it out see if it's sound I think so I'm gonna check it out I think it's gonna be solid yeah I think that it's okay to be solid good eye my ass I'll take it down that's I'm gonna work on next yeah this is a perfect spot you can almost treat this like a canoe for like a canoe type set up just lay your tarp right over the top of it this is a good spot - it's so wide by just flat rocks for cooking just hanging out perfect I'm recording right now on the shoulders guys look at this we're talking about this rock wall okay you could rock walls all anyways yep glad sure and then it drops off in there that'd be a person you know you're not any sort of ground dude there's all ledge under here what a camping site right yeah uh-huh it opens up there - mm-hmm yeah that's insane that's the pond that's in fungus camp for sure oh yeah this is where the water comes from very cool oh man the top of that is super wobbly this whole thing is pretty crumbly [Applause]
it's not like a life-threatening drop of this pill pretty much drop [Applause]
is it softer broke off telework plus it's like kind of big and flat enough like a handful of tents and perfect trees or
