hey it's machine at survival down on the coast line today at a beach let's go over wrinkle grows he likes to grow in very dense mats as you can see there's just a ton of food as I mean these hips of monstrous

okay so as you can see the rose hips are just absolutely massive the leaves are elongated kind of bend down there and as you can see they're very wrinkly hence the name

the stems had these little thorns on them

when they're green and new the thorns aren't so bad when I dry up like this they're pretty sharp all right c is one of the purple violet flower you here's another one right here beautiful little flower all right so I'm just curious as you are we'll just pick one of these hips drop the thorns let's try it out just need a little bit one of my mouth I'm seeing

mmm that's good that's real good dude reminds me about to meet or an apple mixed okay so it prefers to grow on a sand dune which is what I'm standing on right now and it's the road and the beach right behind me so that's the ocean right there this is a big do naman and there's just loads with this rink of rose up here okay so Peterson's edible wild plants go to page 106 and you'll find roses and it's wrinkled Rose forms dense clumps stems of stout bristly wrinkled leaflets usually seven to nine leaflets Klaus a large deep rose to white fruit sizable indeed it is the hips are huge and it's found sand dune seashores and even roadsides and it flowers jun 2 September it's joe i right now as I record this so it's flowering when it should be so let's talk about how you can eat it Anita has jam we can make tea out of it candy or just us food in general which is how I tried it i just ate the the hips the outside of the hips and there's very delicious but to make jam you basically just leave it says it right here you combine with apples now you want to use sour apples or crab apples and it is one part apples three parts to rose hips yeah just enough water to cover and you simmer until soft then you strain it sweet taste you know add some maple syrup or maple sugar something like that then you boil it hard until it's ready to set so you basically boil out a bunch of the moisture and until it's ready to set so if you don't put the crab apples in the mixture with the rose hips then you end up with syrup instead now it says the tea you can make with hips steeping them or the pedals the flower petals sleeping them in hot water for 10 minutes ankit pedals just like they are right here it says cells add them to the jelly or you can't you know you know candy them as well so answers we're here the pulpy exterior the hips can be eaten raw which I really enjoyed so so that they make a great survival food I agree rich in vitamin C good times that's wrinkled rose whilst mission in survival appreciate use conscious but seen the next one take care
