how's it going this is Mitch with the natives viable school I found out day before yesterday that steve watts passed away the community has lost a Titan yeah I just want to get for my support and condolences to his family during this time for all time going forward of course yeah it was one of those guys that I certainly look up to it was a guy that I always wanted to meet to personally thank him for his work I mean it was astounding from my point of view yeah so never got a chance to meet him but I did get a chance to talk with him a little online facebook private messages things like that and i'm glad i was able to interact it interact with in that way and at least tell him some some bit ago I told him you know what I felt about his work and thanked him for such fantastic passion towards primitive-skills woodsman ship woodcraft I mean you know the man was an institution there's no doubt about it oh yeah he was he was used a nice guy with my interactions with him he was polite very knowledgeable

it was nice you know to see a comment or so from him you know every once in a while at commons some of my work which is cool yeah he's one of those guys that I just never got a chance to meet and I was wanted to I just wanted to go visit him and whether it be at one of the gatherings or down in his place actually have a family in North Carolina so would have been too hard to go visit him yeah he was a very very legit guy one of the ways I was exposed to his work was first publications is a book Aboriginal skills Kambli will practicing criminal and it's half a couple of books that are from society of primitive technology which he was a president of at one point fantastic work I really I I really have a lot of respect when he talks about practicing skills

performing skills in context in context I read something funny from him one time about that and you know if it's thought that in context and you know it's like playing around it's not it real it's pretty cool you know he's very serious about it he'd make stone tools to recreate native structures based on archaeological findings and evidence and he would with a group of people rebuild these structures all in context and the whole time be taking readings you know all stone tools how long it took to cut down that sapling how long took to build though the structures frame all of that I mean very cool stuff all done in context so anyways yeah steve watts is uh has definitely been someone I've looked up to you for many years kind of a hero of mine and I'm glad I was able to to interact with him online and have a good relationship with him that way again I was hoping to meet him but he passed away a few days ago and we've certainly lost something special in the community he was a very big deal incredibly knowledgeable I mean I don't even know one percent of how knowledgeable he was I'm just picking up the crumbs that he's left behind you know so anyways I just wanted to make this video and if you haven't checked out some of his publication some of this work be sure to do so again he's someone that I've followed for years and hope one day I'd be able to you know build a shelter in context like he did alright anyways condolences to his family and may he rest in peace take care of Steve
