Shotgun Silencer | TA Outdoors
Description
This video gives you an in-depth explanation on using a shotgun silencer from someone who has been shooting for fifty years. "T" Gun runs through a couple of his guns that he uses for fox control on a Hampshire pheasant pen. He also explains the cartridges that he uses with the moderator and in what situation to use different cartridges.

I'm Tegan I've been shooting since I was 11 years old I do part-time key purring I use this GP greener for my Fox control around the pheasant pens it was made in Birmingham by w w greener and it's moderated for subsonic 12 ball cartridges I use number falls at close range at foxes leave action the gun is open and clear shut the gun this is a safety and there's an automatic safety when you open the gun the safety really bounds to safe I used subsonic number four cartridges in this gun at close range 25 yards max it is very useful around the pens to protect my pheasants it's a good gun for this as it's quiet and reliable because of pheasants are quite expensive and foxes will come in to pheasant like dinner bells you will come from long distances into the pheasants and if they get into it a pheasants they could take you all the pheasants the length of this actually up here people look that's gotta be 30 inches long that moderator 30 inches long now what's the actual reason for having such a long one it controls the noise the food country's going out yeah it's quite quiet when a normal shotgun would be quite loud this is very quiet indeed so sorry what's the actual what's the use of that the moderated there was it four is it sort of it quite ins the round down a new fire and you don't want to disturb what the pheasants because you around the pheasant cocks it's so very prone when they firstly put into the Pens yeah disturb and I get some shock very from shock
I was watching yeah if you can keep its quiet and keep them happy this does the job most of the foxes are short range around the corners of their pens it that's where they come each to the corners yeah the corners all near the poles that's where they could where the pheasants come out all right I've got you now so what's the actual loading of this is a single action it takes one shotgun cocks one shotgun cartridge you can take it two to three quarter-inch cartridge okay the church show us how that feeds in there it goes in there yep and it shuts there's a lever action so that's a real basic there's a lever action and they just beat a straight safety that's correct and the safety is there yep and you pull the trigger
it will go off when you empty the finish around the safety goes back up oh it's automatic safety is to leave it so has that lever moves yep safety off yep empty a case after firing safety goes off and it's at a sort of old gun a collectors gonna specialist cameras how do you describe it it's an old single barrel has been modified with a moderator on what sort of year would you put on that one this one is around about the 70s oh it's just of the old for a gun yeah it's some moderns it's an old style it's a proven style so it does a job for you almost gave evil okay now you have got another one down there just show us that one as well and just tell us what that one is a much thinner 4/10 Mossberg 3-shot for this moderator on a lot less moderator than the size of the cartridges less I suppose you this is a lot less I use this for squirrel and rabbit okay what about the grain of the shot what would you what would you put in the cartridge after rabbit yes I was four or five that's a shop size a better shot size yeah I can have a three-inch cartridge in this yes subsonic yeah cartridges that makes it really reasonably quiet okay oh love philosophy so it's a would you describe that as coming out the gun fast and then slow and so it's a fast impacts that comes out it's slow when he comes closer slower okay but is quite accurate up to 20 yards 25 yards it does its job and that's close and that's quite you gotta get quite close yeah what sort of situation is that what you would call walk-in shooting yeah I use it for rabbit with the ferrets so we don't disturb the ferrets too much yep other rabbits okay a dog would you would you work it with the dog was it generally ferrets a rabbit with Nets yeah and I've lost one from the Nets I can use this I've gotta come out so generally that rabbit and ferrets you would you would you would grab the rabbit in the net dispatch it there but shoot one run off and get out the net or miss the fairies are chasing it whatever then you can finish with a gun yes right so how does that one work a single single cartridge again this is free cartridges I push the safe it's clear yep forward three cartridges in yes for two cartridges in that you got free in there so the three just the people that watch this but obviously aren't into guns they come up in the chamber here they fed up in there the magazine here yep from the base up there into the magazine yeah when the gun is fired if the Safety's there that's on that moment but you can when you fire that recycles into the next round yo chip and use recycle again that's the third round go okay now just looking at some of your guns I didn't know dzong shotguns they don't have and I don't know do they call it a foresight they just have a little tip on the tippy yeah a bead on the top I don't think you were saying it oh they don't actually need to bead at the end if the gun fits you you won't need a bead you just put it you've just pointed you've mapped the gun yet issued of what you're shooting at because all you see is the the item you shooting at mrs. clays you get in front of the clay to shoot the day yeah if there's a rabbit you get in front of the rabbit you shoot the rabbit what sort of spread on the shop would you get on a rabbit the static when you say 25 yards helm house how why does that shot come out shot wide is it all depends what shot you're using and what choke you got on the gun can be oh just over 30 inches that's quite a big opens up a lot it opens up quite a bit yeah it all depends what gun you're using and what but the average is about 30 inches in all their other ranges of gauges guns you could use with this yes yes you've got the 12 you've got 16 and you've got a 28 as this one's the 410 going forward 10 and what sort of wooden that just told us through the actual website rate a gun this is Beach but majority of English guns or good-quality guns are made of walnut walnut will be a traditional without a traditional gun stock and of course got a bad point out to everybody that you're fully licensed to carry shotguns yes and also you used to do instruction as well yes I do used to do instruction being shooting since I was about 11 you have under for the safety back on underneath you have a relief so you can pre-social without pulling the trigger you can enter the round out like that actually recycle and check the rounds out or you can push the lever inside and there are low the live rounds to come out they pain into the chamber there's not an altar eject them it's a manual with a manual jet this automatic eject when you recycle recycle yep when you fired it will chuck out at the side up at the end there on the end of the barrier you got the moderator there what exactly does it do what's the principle how does it what what what did it do it controls the gasses and instead of making a loud bang it controls the noise from the Bell it reduces the actual sound now on say TV we see a sniper he's got a short one this the last two guns you're showing is one's got an enormous moderator on it is that because it's a shotgun yeah this is because it's a shotgun because the shotguns that are hard to quite damp now to tamp it down you need subsonic cartridges with these to really get the full use out of them and that will give they are slightly slower and they're built slightly different to an ordinary cartridge but you still can use ordinary cartridges in them but they will be slightly louder you can use it in there for 10 3-inch cartridges two and a half and two-inch give you an explanation on the two inch it's used for rats close range with this moderated shotgun it's very good in close quarters you don't need em if you use in the right combination you've got two and a half normally used a bit farther 20 yards at rabbit squirrel whatever part vermin and you got the three-inch that's the longest they do in 410 it's a cracking gun for small pair or vermin and rabbit most youngsters start with a 410 and then work up through the different colors so the lids of the cartridge is actually taking a little bit more powder for a bit more kick more powder and more shop same bore different let the cartridge best way to store those it dried in a box
yep keep them in the box that come in and keep them dry okay um with a bread area where anywhere you go you should put them in a safe secure locket so you can lock them away from prying hands these can be carried in your pocket separated from any other tire gauge you can have these in belts boxes in your pocket they are not very heavy they're cracking little gun the 12-gauge as we got here in Britain if you're game shooting you need non-toxic for duck or 4064 pheasant this can be in your pocket in a bag or like this in a belt very ease of use you can get to each cartridges in the twelve two and a half two and three-quarters three and three and a half inch but majority of guns in this country are to an hour to an hour to two or three quarters the four turns a good starter gun without the moderator as these are I use these for vermin control and mainly pest control and vermin control around the farms and the buildings but to fool the 4/10 it's a good starting gun you should go to a competent shooting expert or shooting coach it gives you a good understanding of safety you must have the safety for the youngsters they can start maybe on clays or on a farm with someone who's experienced then making graduate up to larger shotguns at a later date but I would advise first off to go play shooting with a clay
