Goodbye Bushcraft Camp. WE ARE DONE.
Description
It's time to say goodbye to the bushcraft camp. We are done. I've enjoyed building this bushcraft camp and turning it into a super shelter over the years. It's been fun doing solo overnight camping trips in this camp but it is time for a change. The bushcraft camp update series is what put my channel on the map. But it's time for something different....a new adventure....

this is what's left at the bushcraft camp a lot of wood oh man that was tough [Applause]
hey folks thanks for clicking on the video I'm here at the bushcraft camp with dad he's over in the background we're gonna spend the day here we're gonna get fire going and we're gonna probably put some food on just some snacks and we're gonna take down the bushcraft camp I said to you you guys there be a change on ta outdoors and this is the change this is the start of some of the change I've spent years building this camp here over about 16 knows maybe 17 episodes bush life camp Update episodes of building it it's got a hunting Tower it's got two big shelters perimeter walls it's been great fun building it I've really enjoyed it you guys have really enjoyed it and given me some great feedback on it over the years but it is time for a change and we are going to take it down we're going to dismantle it we're not destroying it we're just going to dismantle it that's what we're gonna do today but we are not throwing the resources away because I'm going to use those resources to build different shelters shelters that our ancestors built shelters that have been built you know over the years that have tried and tested shelters that are really good and maybe some of you know some obscure ones some very different ones that maybe haven't been seen before so as such the bushcraft camp is going to go it will be no longer but I will come back and I will use those resources because there's it's all built from dead wood anyway but there's so many resources here there's so much wood in this camp that I want to be able to use it to to learn new skills and to build different structures so that's that's part of the change of ta outdoors there's also another change that's going to be coming as well so all the videos won't be just filmed here there's there's going to be more changes along the way but this is the start of the change this is it subscribe to the channel because there's going to be plenty of different shelters that I'm going to overnight in and hopefully have some good times just building different structures out here in the woodlands yeah come and join us and while we take down this camp get a fire going and have a good time in the woods [Music]

so what we've got here is the wood that's from the camp but we're just raising it off the ground cuz I want to preserve it all as much as possible some of it is is a bit rotten and it's about five years old some of the pieces but it makes sense to keep all the resources from the bushcraft camp raise it off the ground we're then gonna use the tarp from the top the rollaway tarp roof and we're going to cover all this wood to keep it dry and that way I've already got all my resources to build different structures so that was the plan that was the our thought process what we've done is is hammered in some stakes again these states were already used in the camp so it's handled in some states here just to stop the logs the pile from rolling out to the sides we're gonna make a few more piles over here as well because as you can see there's still so much wood in the camp it is raining it's very wet and damp but that's just standard English weather but we're making progress not be done yeah we're getting a weekend it's painful taking it apart and watching all this work that I've done but it's needed I think it's time for a change it's easy take it down it is to put it up way he's way easier but yeah we're ready for a change so let's crack on and then we'll get the fire going and get some food on and this is the smaller smaller shelter in a camp but you can see the mosses all still alive it's still growing and what we're gonna do is keep this moss we're gonna take it over to the pallet cabin which if you look with the camera is just over there where we've got some gear we're going to take the moss over to the pallet cabin and we're gonna put it on the roof because although we've got that metal roof and it's great it's completely waterproof it doesn't look as nice and also when it rains on that metal roof it makes a racket doesn't it dad yeah it's like thinking things anything anything so we're gonna take the moss we're going to put it on the roof of the cabin it's going to look nice and green and it's also going to soundproof it a bit better this is one of the original shelters that I've built and it's held up probably the best that there's even a funky growing up here is your eco-friendly living quarters we've got loads more moss here so we're going to take this moss as well put it on the cabin on the other side and then we've got loads of good resources here and it's still solid and it's still not too rotten so we get this lot it's already looking a bit there we've got rid of the secondary shelter I caught it down here the log store the perimeter walls the smallest shelter over there now we're getting rid of the tarp follow that roof I say getting rid of we've got all the logs stacked up over here not to keep them nice and dry yeah a lot of work we got the fire going in a minute and then we'll get some some food on and then it's the hunting Tower or the tower I'm gonna be gutted when that one comes down well the tart works you can see the water flying up it easy
we have reached the stage where we're on to the hunting Tower now which is those of you remember the kind of the first video that went viral on the channel when I built the tower I think it's on something like three million views at the moment but it was for me it was a really good project it was something that I had never done before I had no experience in construction or anything as lasted you know easily every year I think it's like a year and a half maybe at the moment all dry wood we're going to keep all that wood we're gonna keep the ladder as well just in general I'm not getting rid of the ladder at all because that's gonna be used for other projects but um yeah I mean it's good you can see dad up there it's pretty big isn't it good view you can see all the way around yeah okay I'll do the roof and pass it down to you oh I'm not looking forward to this bit I think because I think I just watch your head I'm gonna throw these down [Applause]
so much soaring well yeah when it's like convenient it's the fishing yeah yeah
Oh
[Music]
and this is what's left at the bushcraft camp a lot of wood oh man that was tough well we're having a bacon break at the moment
after all that work we need yeah I know we've got one more shelter left and we're gonna keep it because we were just chatting and we're gonna do one more overnighter at the camp ah well it's just one shelter left so I'm gonna do a camp in this shelter and dad's gonna do a camp in the cabin the pallet cabin which is just over there so it's like a double overnighter and we'll cook in one for the evening and then cook at the camp or something in there in the morning and would you like a father-son overnighter and that we the last overnighter and the bushcraft camp these are the festive season over here in the UK we've got something to celebrate much moving forward with these bushcraft camps or maybe backwards downwards Crashdown we're gonna have some old wine no wine is a very I guess European thing isn't it we do it every year a bit mulled wine well that's not it's not official it's not wine wine you know it's not like it's only a person it's about 8% but it's a very I know the European kind of have it the handles around here yeah so there's good you can't think about yeah that's gonna be a glove job and they don't take long to warm at all you just stopped you don't let them boil you just let it barely simmer and it releases all the smells of the spices in there what I want to know is I asked it and the film hasn't come out yet on the fishing side but he will do what is mulled wine and where does a term come from I was thinking about something or other I was just mulling it over is that saying just English is it a worldwide and what does it mean mulling it over and what happens to the wine to Molly what is mulled wine I don't know I drink it I taste it I like the smell is beautiful smell but I don't know what [Laughter]
let's enjoy this is dying out of fire were letting it die out and we're getting too dark very quick to know it passed wasn't it and as we filming this one you're gonna put this one out quite quickly you just say that I'm very very very happy because I do not like cold dark winter nights and from the 21st of December I feel better already because satellites coming out in the evenings cuz I like working in the easiest brilliant that's true Thursday is the shortest day and the longest night whichever way you want to look at it I do feel better after the 21st I think wow we got the spring to look forward to yes you've got the worst of our wintering in the UK January February should be light you know you'll be snow in a freezing but it will be light and look at the camp people it this is all that's left of it yeah that's it the shelter yeah yeah the cabin is looking very inviting over there this is all our wood we're gonna use the tarp from the roof over there put it all over this wood we've got loads of it and that's going to keep it all dry so I can build other shelters with it we're gonna keep the ladder that's important that's good to use for different things but this is all that's left
it's just empty space now look how dry it was where the old lean-to was in the hunting tower so we big space this is where I'm going to build other shelters take them down again after doing an overnighter build other things here as well it's gonna be fun I'm looking forward to this fresh content smoking you always know yeah finally we've got hair flight oh we gotta get the tongue as well external up yeah we've I'd say the tower was a strange one taking that down that was a weird weird one for me taking the tower down because building it anybody put you on the map didn't it really it did yeah yeah that was the views that was a really big thing for me personally a personal achievement and a kind of channel achievement YouTube achievement as well but here we are kind of unknown five hundred six hundred thousand subscribers later maybe I you can see all the wood was used that was all for love works and up here that problems believing that that is just fallen woman and then kept forest it was anywhere any of this tons of tons of dry we just got to get the straight bits just yeah I got lucky I got lucky with the location and it's all really really it's all Deadwood it's really straight because it's I've said this before it's such a dense wood and it's all growing up so I just saw a woodpecker and if you burn your lips I'd say no oh no age before beauty
so yeah we're gonna do a little theory time before we get into theory time yeah dad is approaching 200,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel TK Shinra government is totally awesome fishing ta fishing please please as a Christmas present to dad can you go over to TA fishings YouTube channel and hit the subscribe button and tick the bell it'd be really good to see dad get a thousand yeah and actually we built that channel we build that channel from scratch way before ta outdoors was even born
we've been on YouTube for seven nearly eight years now you know it ta outdoors is a relatively new channel in that sense but we've been making YouTube videos for seven years please go over and check it out there's 700 and there's films on fishing channel combined we have over a thousand videos we've done over a thousand videos and and I'm sure you told me correctly for over a hundred million yeah yeah oh yeah we say those channels so there's a special sort of video this one so father and son together ta fishing and ta outdoors now has a total I think it's 104 million views our channels together great which is awesome just the father and son no production crew you know no definitely do yeah thanks so thank you to you guys really it's about no we really really good thank you and watch and watch the films and a lot of guys do what we're do like the fact we're not working together and we're both lucky to be able to do it because we're both lucky be able to do it and also I think I'd like to give a huge shout out to the TA fishing fans because they came over today at those originally so you know you are the teacher out all the TA fishing for tomorrow me oh yeah the awesome army who were ta fishing fans first and then came over here you guys are fiercely loyal and we just want to say thank you to that for sticking by all these years for sure what's what's the theory then dad we're gonna hit up some theory time yeah you know it's gonna get wacky up in here now this was not theory this is how do I stop this smoking in my arm yeah we might have to adjust the camera we had a load of rain last night and we litter it's made lot the wood way that's better oh my god this is people in may I can see that guys got a beer he's dog city boy him think it's his dog yeah I mean recently this is topical in three months time it might be nothing but I finished something that's growing this over here in the UK we get sort of worldwide news but I think each each country gives you in that country the news they want you to know about is that so you don't hear better I tend to scan a lot of different channels and listen to different countries news fees to try and learn stuff and over in France they got these guys called Yellowjackets were basically just ordinary members and French public public with Republic yeah of the French public out on the streets extremely ticked off because they're having trouble they get to the end of the month and there's no money left this utility bills tough fuel bills I think they kicked off the tryna check the fuel bills up it's the fuel they all fighting over the fuel exactly and then and then all these prices going up it's driving people mad not fully understand it you know they've had enough of the prices going up and up and up on everything I've thought we could in the UK for sure fuel food fuel everything but I'll tell you what I'm coming round to is I've noticed that only in about the last two years there's some of the utility companies in the UK I'm speaking for really aggressive and it sells utility companies by the way we mean of a CEO you can easily get companies of water exactly all the stuff we need and I'm sort of kind of worried I'm no conspiracy theorist really it's just theories but they talk about the fact that the big corporations have really run in the world and running the governments and you know basically doing everything and telling us what to do effectively Ockham's I can sort of understand that but I'm kind of concerned that there's people getting involved with utility companies I mean oh they can hold us to rent some can't they yeah you have to have gas but you have to have everything you've got to have what do they do you turn the heating off have you people ever had trouble with utility companies and do you think we're being held to ransom for the goods they supplied to us they control stakin images yeah it's the same as social media Facebook and everything they can influence people's decisions so easily the that's what's kind of worrying well I wanna run for me is that the media is the media I used to write before so I know bits and pieces about the media but the worrying thing is they get the ordinary guy and they can basically put a tariff or price on to the utilities Enki supplying the gas or watering electric pretty well what they want what are you gonna do they turn the water off they turn the gas off adjourned electric off how are we going to survive your lesson any of your thoughts on that theory time and also let us know if you'd like to see a father-son overnighter out here in the woods it's still December with pretty much ten days from Christmas ilat days of Christmas I just got back from New York a couple of like yesterday go back from you yesterday so I'm still really jet-lagged had a wicked time very very cool city unbelievably busy it was really good really good city just so much to see and do it's hard to take in in five days you can't really take it all in it's great to meet some of you great to just go there and experience the Big Apple but I when I next go back to America it will probably be hopefully in some wilderness of it out of the city maybe and some are a bit more wild because we're gonna the plan is so next year there's gonna be quite a bit of change I say this is the first change on ta up doors this bit that we've done here taking down the bush golf camp is the first change I feel I feel things are getting quite repetitive not just on ta outdoors but on YouTube in general there's a lot of repetition there's bushcraft camps you know the videos are kind of popping up everywhere and it's I think it's time to do something a bit different and just you know it's explore explore more so after New Year I'm going to be traveling a lot more going around the country a lot more going to probably different countries as well just to experience a bit more wild territories other than just the UK but you know that it needs some change Theodore's needed some change it's time to make a change and that's why we've started with the bushcraft camp the pilot cabin we're going to keep because that was kind of a special project between us - we don't want to just tear that down we made a lot of effort moving that out here into the woods this wood and we put the Moss roof on it now which we haven't really filmed much of but we'll show that in a pallet cabin episode at some point and yeah we want to keep that one going for sure and maybe add little things to that out here but as far as the count goes I've obviously got this one largely to lean to shelter left I'm gonna do one more if you if you guys want to see it we'll do one more in that then we'll take it down and then all that wood we've kept over there we've kept it dry we're gonna put a tarp over it and I'm gonna use that word as resources to build different shelters that our ancestors built and just try and experience camping out in the woods did in a different way the camp was great it was awesome it weren't a lot building it it had you know the walls and everything like that but it didn't really need the walls we were just saying just now how nice it was to just have one shelter wasn't it cuz I saw where that's all man needs yes just one shelter a roof over his head it doesn't need a huge camp that was a that was part of a project a personal project of mine it was nothing I wasn't trying to prove anything I was just enjoying building a camp that really when I think about it just a one man thing like this is really really all you need so yeah there's gonna be more shelter videos more overnight videos in those shelters so stick around hit the subscribe button you don't want to miss what's coming up subscribe to tae definitely I've got some really good projects coming up as well I've already started filming one of them but basically it's all gonna kind of change in a new year there's gonna be some really good stuff coming along so we've got we'll probably do a Christmas special before that but I just wanted to say thank you to all of you that are watching oh yeah we really appreciate it and let us know all your thoughts and opinions in that comment section below and we'll see you soon on another episode
cheers Cheers where's my wine mine's gone thank you anyway it is [Music]
