so what I'm doing it guys is I'm just a dis mason feather sticks and I'm just using the curls from this they stick here where I've been making the furthest sticks and all I'm doing is just sliding them down the side and I'll probably get a lighter to these because these should look should like very easily but they do burn quick so you need quite a few of them and I'm just going to obviously leave them sticking out a bit to the sides like acta so I can get something to light when it does light and the idea is that if you slide them down to the bottom flame tends to burn the flame tends to burn upwards and down as well obviously but by burning up it and can burn the top of this and we actually get a flame itself coming out the top of the Swedish five torch it's a slow process but it's I think you're going to weasel at it well guys we've got a normal lighter here it's been raining so much so I'm not going to be another bother with doing any fire steel bow drill and drill all that sort stuff we just want to get this going really so with a bit of luck it's very yep but one would hope these curves we'll get inside there and like the other curls that I've buried I absolutely have never done this before so who knows guys what can happen it's going I think we may have it just need this maybe this opposite side to help mr. Winn side is the whiz it we're in size the one that's lit come around here guys you can see it yeah look at the fins right off coming through to this angle in that split [Music]
[Music]
that's going to be smoky Baker today guys all part of the flavor guys you can do this at home if you want it you know just crack it in and mix it all that and please bring the mix with you you don't have to do it here we have because we're in a rush to come out trying to beat all this rain that you can see it's much easier if you get this back in the cold poise of your kitchen right and salt and pepper little pad a short thing is you can smell that bacon cooking a little more pepper maybe we should do is you can dice them tomatoes up peppers anything like that and we're going to do screw this together and make a scrambled egg mixture by doing this just a lazy way of doing it rather than it doing it in the pan there we go but I personally would like some chopped up onions maybe some red and green peppers mushrooms and you could make a really nice mix in there so they can go in with that bacons cooked [Applause]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Applause]
all right figured I sound like a rake over and the Baker mayor and I got bitty canvas and water going to boil it up for cup of tea good old English - you can't beat it
I'm a taster excellent that's nice got a nice smoky taste to it takes good it is good enough yeah hmm next time we're definitely going to put more spices in that shake-up of the egg container there's definitely a way forward and some more tomatoes and mushrooms and be good I think so yeah local omelet really bacon bacon and Amla we're boiling away dad that's ready
paintman out yeah well that was lovely tasty bit of bacon and eggs there we've got some feedback on our first Swedish fire torch we reckon we we didn't let it burn down long enough to begin with yeah before we put the frying pan on so we kind of start it of oxygen Emily I think so yeah I mean now it's opened up much more in the middle it's got a lot more airflow yeah and it's meant that it's more flame and it's really the flame that helps you cook it but it's hotter than you think it is Harvester yes even when it was smoky it brought the Billie pretty quickly yeah even when smokey think there's no heat there yeah she tend to think old flame is heat none of those embers are heat that's yeah now it's going really well here so how did you make it was a process it was about a 3-foot length or silver birch at Micah's got around the woods here and I took it back home but I wasn't sure this again we don't know what we're doing here is just so well let's have a go at it but I give them fancy cutting to say a 15 inch section off and then trying to chainsaw that I wanted the whole section so I've put it on the ground and I staked the other side put a road rather so it's rigid vertical and then because look you know we don't we're not Lumberjacks we don't use chainsaws every day and then I cut down into it but when I did find is you've got to rock the chainsaw one side then the other to put a like a point on it look I give plenty a chainsaw in but was lit with an electric chainsaw I try and put a pyramid on it cut down cut down cut down rather than just a straight wide 10 inch wide cut all the way down so that's how I did it I maybe my mistake or we look at that that's what no any time it's three times as wide as a column a is going really well so I figure maybe I should have you make a cut double the width of cup on my chainsaw blade so that more oxygen can get in there we learn anybody as we go along
yeah then what I did once I obviously cut the sections into it then I could put it into my sawhorse and it's long enough still it would use a short piece in case it kicks back off the saw pretty into the saw also I had there and then I can cut my actual section off so I'll cut the cuts down about 2/3 the way down and then the end section which is plain wood so I haven't seen out wide that cut was I've mentioned earlier the one I I did see another one and it was completely cut all the way through and then had a why around the back so that you could open it out my figure if we do another one I've already made about four or five with the fixed cuts of it make another one I figure we'll do the full split and then rewire it maybe someone likes something different yeah oh hang a white you but then it can it can open it a little bit yeah and then I merely open it as well but I mean it's away now it's definitely Rory now yeah it's definitely a time thing are really quite pressed with them yeah and you can feed some more kindling and so I Claudia yeah you can keep feeding it that's what you're feeding it so it's the same stove really it's like a same wood-burning stove you just done how long they're supposed to burn for I don't know that you know this I think four hours of some people have had them go for about four hours I mean Isis go well over an hour right now to me now but I am impressed with them and I think the fact that you can make these out in the woods with an area you can make a crude one by splitting it and using a bit of snare wire or something like that and the wire wouldn't melt but it's very efficient really it just takes a long time to get that initial burn it does take it we sort of struggle didn't we yeah you got it earlier but then it's then it's smoked again in this you need that embers right down deep don't you the deeper the burning is have a longer blowing speak yeah it blows air again that helps to get those embers hot well guys it's not time of the day where we usually do a bit of theory time which is generally where we talk about something a little bit bit a bit wonky bit out there just to get your minds thinking a lot of the time we focus on the primitive man and primitive topics but I think that's got a good theory today which actually I come completely back up yes far away it's not a theory in fact it's Chris yeah and it's actually quite worrying this one now in the UK I'm not talking about the countries if there's other companies out there and noticed this that maybe are on the same latitude as Iceman's earth we say Eastern Canada might have the same weather I don't know we seem to have fall under attack from Ivy now I don't know her name it's not that type of ivy we've got an attack by a female ivy this is ivy the vine because we have deciduous ground over here forests obviously the leaves come off that's when you see the Ivy which is an evergreen they are all the time and the last five or six years I've really noticed how they're strangling the life out of a lot of our traditional oak creek okay yeah mostly oaken is mostly out no wonder since I point out to people they got oh my god you're right is true you know the strange thing is what happens is that creates a huge wind resistance to being pushed over with actually got a film where we can show you them we went round and yet and did a bit of filming to show you guys exactly what it's like being the wind you can see all this but what I do find here is if it's near roads it's near anywhere that it's mostly pollution like whether it be Asian centers now I don't know there is a natural mind that tends to grow on oak anyway I do know that you think this is a street under but no but it's it's why is it why does it grow so much near roadside exactly is it you're talking to is it fueled by Harley not a night on the cars because you'll think now and when you're driving on the road I mean we're only speaking from the UK here I don't know what it's like across the rest of the world we know we've got massive viewership in the US and Canada but what if you're if you're on the roadside take a look at the trees as you're driving past for some reason I always notice much more ID since you said it yeah much more Ivy on the roadside trees then out in the countryside where we are now all the cities is nine but if none yes that deciduous forest over the other days none yeah it always seems to be near car pollution I don't know check it out guys yes know what you think we've got a bit footage we're going to creation have a look at the footage thing we don't think about it and you can see it is a rows and rows of them smaller than ivy yeah I want to do is unfortunately the winter storms blow taking out a traditional oak trees yeah like a light ivy they're killer of hair oak trees those are I'm talking about he's not a regular open field England just wrong the edge the field you can see all these trees being deciduous have lost their leaves right this is my argument so if the wind blows in the winter two things the ground is wet so the root holding is soft you see all those trees start to lean over there a lot of these are prime oak trees especially round there to the right is a prime oh look the only thing that's growing up there is oily but the problem with this prolific ivy globe we're now getting here in Britain so what I'm seeing anyway it creates a tremendous wind resistance so when we do get a storm if he's pushing and pushing and pushing and eventually that huge tree which might have been there god I don't know 1800 years 150 years has gone just look at the angle of those trees there there's one two three on the left they are all eventually going to come down and we've actually got a must pray over here you can see it's come down it's winter now look here superb British oak tree has to be over three feet wide at the base rather than I mean it's all totally clear because the Sun is this solid having said that up here this vine goes and right around the outside and this is not the source always pull that one down there is just a small state let's strip it off look how that's smaller than might have your finger right and it's gone probably 50 feet up the tree it's just so prolific it's driving me mad because nobody seems to be able to tell me what's going on in England Britain where we got all this ivy let's check that big tree out well this one here is about 70 feet tall and I walk around here every year it wasn't there last year this winter it's down covered in ivy it's ripped out a huge root ball and that just illustrates how much wind resistance these Ivy color color trees are causing in the winter let's go and check the root base and you'll see what I mean
see now this is what interesting this is how resilient this RV is and I don't know which species of ivy this is there's probably are various different species of Ivy this one is just everywhere but listen the tree might be dead it's laid there but look in here there's berries that tells me it's all still alive and we'll continue to use this fallen tree to grow on and the tree behind it covered in ivy I rest my case well I hope you enjoyed that little bit of footage where we went out and films just well locally to us really but yeah it gave you a good impression of the ivy that you can see on the trees and the scale of it as well because it was on most of those trees that we dare film and even the downed tree we filmed it yeah yeah so you know it's almost not a theory like dad says it is fact it's happening and what is it you know maybe you guys know what species of idea is but why roadsides that's our thing why Road design and I actually sent a letter to Leslie Liddy yes I didn't really to a it's a British famous country program that appears once a week so people will know exactly what I'm talking about and I told them about this was going to be an interesting topic for them to investigate and find somebody who's read time into IV growth do you know what couldn't even be bothered with a courtesy of reply yeah that's television for you that's why we do stuff on YouTube TV don't seem interested in it fine you guys probably are thank you very much for watching guys hope you enjoyed us enjoyed coming with us on the adventure of the smoked out Swedish fighter bacon yeah it was really it was an experience for us and it's first time we've done it but I hope you enjoyed the video yeah please do check out our bushcraft plainness we've got shooting videos as well and thank you very much for coming along and do drop us a comment about that theory time you
