Previously I had built a dog house for my dog Jaxx whilst I was building the hunting tower. It worked great to begin with but it ended up taking too much space in the camp. So as I am soon going to build the wood roof which will link up with the super shelter, I decided that I would still like an area where my dog can sleep. So I use wood that I scavenged from around the forest to build a small primitive dog shelter. This particular shelter is similar to my small lean to which I built in a previous camp update episode.
Unfortunately, the bugs are starting to get too much in this woodland, with mosquito's and giant southern wood ants becoming a big problem. I will leave it a few weeks now until I begin work on the foundations for the roof of the shelter and then look at what material I will use to cover the roof. It's been a great adventure building this bushcraft camp. There are constant ideas going around in my head of how I want to change the layout and use different materials and build different structures. Either way, it's been a useful area for me to learn bushcraft and survival skills, and I hope to practice more primitive technology at this camp site. During the summer months, it can be difficult doing solo overnight camps at this shelter. So I will probably wait until the cooler Autumn months or for a colder summer night to camp alone in the forest. I feel my skills at building, diy and bushcraft have developed significantly since starting this project. Building the hunting tower was probably the hardest build, but I overcame the obstacles and it is still standing today. I have loved creating the bushcraft camp update series and I am looking forward to starting work on Bushcraft Camp Update 15 really soon. Thanks for watching.

hey folks Mike here from T outdoors welcome to another episode I'm out in the woods
bushcraft camp is just behind me and I realized the other day when I was doing some work here at this camp that I destroyed my little dog house the jacks I built a little shelter for him I took it down to make room in the camp after doing that I now realized I actually want an area in there for him to sleep when we do overnighters not so much in the summer but more autumn time so the plan is I'm going to build a doghouse or dog shelter but a bit more bushcraft style so a bit more in keeping with this basically making it out of logs as opposed to kind of traditional dog houses boy crack on with the building I just like to say a huge thank you to the sponsor of this video Squarespace the website is live now guys tá outdoors comm is live very simple to use really good 24/7 support finally finished building my online shop which means that you guys can now purchase my patches official ta outdoors patches and stickers as well head to ta outdoors calm for that Squarespace are actually offering you 10% off your first purchase and a free trial just head to WWE outdoors thank you so much to them for sponsoring this video let's go and build a doghouse

so having a tea break ice from the building I've done about two hours worth of work and that's including all the sawing everything like that so I've sent this tea this second breakfast tea by a company called Wolf door and I think they're based in Canada or some really nice guys I don't know how many of them do it's only very small scale at the moment I think they're on Etsy but those of you who know me mosquitos no I love my Lord of the Rings I love my sort of medieval lore and things like that and that's what these guys do they make medieval lore inspired tea and they've got they sent me another one called butter beer Harry Potter obviously it's the loose leaf tea butter beer I've already had guys and I'm telling you now it's incredible second breakfast tea the Lord of the Rings inspired one I've not actually had this one I love the rustic packaging it comes in it is loose leaf tea and it's it's got some text on the back there but it's a bit small for you guys to read it just says rise and shine ye old fool of a toque this fine blend of Shire apples meadow flowers and cranberry has been handed down the Baggins family line for centuries using the finest weed in the Shire this earthy mix is specifically for second breakfast meals admittedly it's not second breakfast at the moment guys it's now like 9 o'clock at night but it's really cool love the little packaging it comes in so the focus might go out obviously it is then in some some power plastic too to keep it all secure but it's not what you think it is guys now what some of your thinking getting on the herbs getting the good stuff Wow I did this with butter Baron it's amazing but this second breakfast it's incredible look at it guys that it's just awesome I'm a big fan of loose leaf tea anyway I have it a lot at home as well as coffee but usually in the summer months I have a lot of teeth well actually I'm English I have it all the time T well Who am I kidding it smells so good I love my Lord of the Rings stuff say
I've proper geeks out on this have some essentially I've got a little infuser here little kind of cheap e GP infuser these are just handy for obviously loosely teas
it's got a little locking mechanism they're really cheap one unfolds legs here get my second breakfast deep actually I was gonna use my spoon but it might be better just locks there just got a wooden cook so for this one got my water pull that over the infuser I'm gonna let that sit a couple of minutes don't quite see the color but it is greeny like a minty green tea smells amazing
my cooks it from I'm torn at solar Siberia he sent me this I think it was almost last year at some point now she's on thumb popper link to his stuff in the description and I'll pop a link to these teas guys
the second breakfast D look at that love the rustic nests of this can't wait to have some of this in winter as well okay I think we're done so good furniture spill out at my mustache ah cheers guys thank you to the guys at Wolf Tour as well
honestly you can almost just feel the goodness when you try that this feels so natural oh it's really refreshing really refreshing it's a tough choice between this and butter bear to be honest they do other teas as well guys so for the for their gamers out there they've got one called essence of yennefer which is awesome those sort of witcher 3 fans will know what i'm talking about when i say
yennefer they've got what else have they got I think they've just brought out one that's to do with old Charlie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory I think it's called golden ticket it might be a limited edition tea or something they bought out but all these medieval law teas I love it Lord of the Rings Harry Potter it's just so up my street so cool just it's handcrafted tea this is a little 50 gram packs and it even says 20 teaspoons on it you can get 20 teaspoons out of it they're on Facebook they sell these on Etsy so I'm gonna pop a link in the description guys to these teas go and buy them go and taste them for yourselves because honestly I can't really explain to you the flavor as well as you've having it yourself if you're a Lord of the Rings fan Harry Potter fan the gamer anything like that I think they've got Game of Thrones inspired ones as well like herb of the Hound it's just so good so good please go check them out guys wolf Thor there's a link to these this tee and their website in the description below be super grateful if you wouldn't and check them out and you know follow them on Instagram and things like that letting know that I sent you a check to one of the guys there Kyler and he said that they might actually be able to bring out a my version of a tee my own tea how cool would that be my own line of tea being an Englishman I was like what bring out my own tea I got the sweats and everything that was awesome so please please go and check them out I've I'm in talks with them at the moment about bringing out my own line of tea with them just you know one of the versions of these it would be so cool maybe like a woodsman's brew something like that tea a tea I don't know maybe you guys can think of good names but I'm in discussion with them at the moment about wringing out some ta outdoors version of teeth so go and check them out link in the description below thank you so much wolf door amazing T amazing so this is Jax's doghouse so far I'm losing a bit of light so Paula G's for that guys this is very similar to my lean-to where the low lean-to with the moss and the tarp underneath it where I you keep the ladder it's in fact it's the same principle it is basically like a lean-to shelter so it's not a dog house as such it is a dog shelter but whatever you know you call it what you want basically it's walled off I've double stack to the back wall which I'll show you now actually quick so if you see here I've double stacked it so that these support poles here can just tuck in there if I do it that way they lean up there on that cross support then they just tuck in there and it's a good way of getting a back wall to wish it to any shelter really I've done the same to that shelter over there there's a bit of a gap there at the moment but that's from movement but you can see you can kind of see that it's raised off the bottom the back of it and that's what I've done here so I just literally done a couple of steaks a couple of lashings it's all very basic stuff same over here steak slashing sawing it all flat but that just means that this can push against that now and it's not going anywhere and then the cross support here again lashed in not professionally obviously this is me we're talking about here but that just no matter that lashings never going to take that much pressure so I always put a support stake just there it's not even in the ground it just rests on the ground but it's all all the pressures there a support stick is taking the weight the lashings just extra support so now I can lean stuff up against here and cover all of this if I can and then maybe put the tarp over it and Moss I'm not sure yet some may find quite amusing as people seem to think I've because of all the straight wood in the camp here everything's so straight they seem to think I've got it from a logging company and just and just paid for it because the wood so straight I don't get where people get that from confuses me this is these are pointer ease it's such a dense woodland that they grow straight that's what happens with trees when it's super dense they'll work really straight me show you how dense this woodland is and let me show you how much Deadwood this is all Deadwood guys this whole this whole bushcraft camp is whole fort whatever you wanna call it it's all this won't ever let me just show you some of it they're everywhere everywhere that's been down a long time I've obviously cleared a lot of it up from the forests of all this has been on this area borderless all the private land been on managed for 40 years maybe even 50 years lots more down here that's it there's a tree everywhere I've barely touched the surface with with getting wood for the camp all that lot there's a tree see it coming down there look how straight is growing I haven't done that I haven't chopped it down it's just so dense this woodland know this it's going all the way up there just to prove that it's rotten out see rotten I haven't I haven't done anything can you see how straight you're going so all the branches everything is growing straight because it's fighting for sunlight it's basic biology and nature trees want to get the most sunlight they've compete with each other to get the most sunlight look how straight they all are they're all fighting this isn't even a dense area where the campus this is need that's look again there's just wood everywhere on chopped wood unprocessed wood there's a big tree down here
at Big Branch there big old pine tree there another one beyond it which I processed a bit of I didn't chop this down with an axe it's come down like that great growing straight there so I'm not I promise you guys I'm not ordering stuff in I'm not ordering lumber in it's just all here look look how dense it gets now I've barely touched the surface of this woodland there is so much it goes back a KERS and acres and acres all around here and everything grows straight I'm just very fortunate where I am to have all this even here rotted out rotten plant it would to soar up build stuff here's another thing I have to deal with at the moment guys southernwood ants look how many there are everywhere that barely put my hand on there just I worried that they're making a nest right near camp hurt that's camp even if I just sweep around there the forest is alive with them they're everywhere
can you hear that I can hear them I've never heard that before you can there's so many ants you can hear the forest floor all the debris moving I look these two a battling I'm fight they're everywhere
I've got mosquitoes as well to deal with it's not it's not too enjoyable trying to build stuff in this conditions so I don't come here too much over the summer months so these are called Formica roofer and what they do is they spray formic acid hence the name Formica they spray formic acid into the usually the noses of her guests foxes and badgers as they go to if I could show some footage overlaying this last year when I was building the hunting tar and I put my hand there was a huge nest their nests come up two or three you know feet in the air and I put my hand over their nests then you could see in slow motion they rear up and they spray formic acid doesn't burn you as such it just really stinks and for a nap for a mammal with long snout like a badger or a fox which rely heavily on scent it must be so uncomfortable look at this lot Oh big ants as well these are our bigger stands here in the UK beard old bugger's and call it your boots as soon as I stand still for a couple of minutes they'll be calling up my boots got my legs there you go there's one this is seconds let hurry up my boots crazy
I'm only barely standing still for 30 seconds if that keep moving came boots they come there he is on my laces buggers
well I have to call it day sadly hey I've got dinner to get back to be these ants are getting crazy right now mmm actually getting a bit unbearable and it does get like this this time of year and also I've run out would I need to go you know
forage for more wood cut it up a bit but you can see the basic style I'm going for thanks so much for watching I really appreciate it I will finish the dog shelter soon I've got to do the roof finish the roof may tarp it I may put moss on it I'm not sure yet I'm gonna put a little bed in there as well for him I'm moving so that I don't get these ants coming up my legs because they do they did like to just crawl up underneath your in between your trousers and your socks I know I could tuck my socks in they still get in then they still cause a bit of havoc but thank you guys so much for watching I really appreciate it mmm this whole camp journeys been awesome I'm always learning you know I'm not an expert by no means just trying to get out here and hopefully inspire some of you you know that's that's what I want to do at the end of the day you've seen how much Deadwood is around in this forest there's loads but thank you yeah thank you so much for watching and thanks also to Squarespace for sponsoring this video don't forget if you guys want to set up your website just go to ant comp just go to www-where space comm /ta outdoors for your free trial and 10% off your first purchase there's there's links to everything in the description guys if you want to find out a little bit more thank you for watching I appreciate it please share this with your friends if you if you if they're into this sort of thing and I'll see you really soon and the next episode you
