Off Grid Tiny Cabin: Pallet Wood Projects & Cast Iron Grill Cooking
Description
We're back at the off grid cabin in the woods for some more pallet wood projects. We also get the campfire going and do some cooking on the cast iron grill and cooking tripod. The wilderness pallet homestead is coming along, with the Cabin pretty much finished, complete with woodstove, raised bed, folding table, chair and book case. We are now focusing on the outside of the cabin. last episode we built a raised vegetable bed and polytunnel in the spring garden ready to plant some vegetables. This time we build a pallet wood compost bin to complement the vegetable bed, and a small bin for any waste from inside the cabin. Out the back of the lean to shelter, we build a table for a wash and cleaning area. We hope you enjoy following the adventure!

previously and the pallet wood cabin build we hiked into the woods with some more pallet wood ready for the next project before we began work we fired up the wood stove and cooked up a hearty breakfast of sausages and beans being British this was closely followed by cup of tea with a full belly it was time to begin the next pallet wood project we fastened together some longer pallets to form the base of a raised vegetable bed as with the other pallet projects that we have done we tried to recycle the whole pallet even the nails that we used to put the pallet together we used some of the thicker parts of the pallet wood to act as legs for the raised bed it was then time to build the box that the soil would go in for this we used longer pallet wood and a few diagonal supports to make the box more secure we then worked on building a frame which would form the roof of the vegetable bed using a shovel and some elbow grease we dug some fresh topsoil from a nearby area and used a vintage sieve to separate the finer soil particles and sticks we then saved a layer of peat soil over the top of this using a piece of plastic from a mattress cover we carefully placed this over the top of the raised bed and cut it to size what we had built was a raised vegetable bed and polytunnel which we would use to plant spring vegetables for the off-grid pallet camp the episode ended with theory time where dad came up with the theory that the change in the weather patterns we are experiencing is actually a start of a new ice age join us now for episode 11 where we continue to make more with recycled pallet wood [Laughter]

did you bring a wish no you didn't really wish great not speak hang on a minute hang on a minute I wonder if it's possible bit DIY a bit of DIY I never went adrift anywhere it doesn't work see the egg all over the forest how to break your drill know how to break this really is yeah I'm known don't go faster ladies and gentlemen today we go to be making the makita scrambled omelette needs a 18 volt two-speed reversible and 2 teaspoons that you are never gonna give back your wife again as you can see that she usually kept the way to the capital to where balance a pan he wants a bit of egg your boy your boy [Music]
that's gonna last us ages that what the ketchup HP of your subscriber HP nice with the bit of mastic off the roof as well
first flight outside for at the cabin this year which is indeed the nose melted it's cold it is so cold we're get fouled
we're like middle of mark middle to end of March filming this yeah was it there yeah end of March next week yeah next time we beam organizing the food got a lot work to do today yeah well oh no quick and easy only take wait but we could have a spring onions in here could've put some ham in it there's another crash bang wallop episode Elizabeth it cannot be anybody on YouTube who is ever mixed up an omelet using an acacia power drill got beer first
it's only a first on ta outlaws yep we haven't forgotten about Jax guys he still gets his food well your boy good boy
one more so I've got Jax attached to the tree on a carabiner here so he can slide goes all the way to the other tree as well it's quite high to be fair might make it there bit he can walk on underneath it doesn't hang him up the reason we've got Jack's on the lead is because we're here at Badgers resting there's a big badger set over to my right there and there's also loads of rabbit holes around obviously being a Jack Russell he's very inquisitive he will go down those holes and he won't come back
it's pretty dangerous in this particular woodland anyway so we know we've put cameras game cameras up here and we know there's and lots of small small animals here so yeah we've put him on this little running system just to keep him hitched up a bit he doesn't like it he's not a huge fan but it keeps him safe that's the main thing you can see here we made out of pallet wood a nice waste bin and I made it to the size roughly of a carrier bag so then we put all our rubbish in there and then we could take you home I do not like litter anyway I'm just a bit peculiar that litter do you know what the reason is I was fishing once I was about no mid-20s and I was in Bermuda and I was fishing with a guy called Pete pair and chief who's a fisheries director then I hope nothing if he's still alive is so many years ago puttin poor chap but he was one of my mentors for light tackle fishing with a lot of pressure on a fishing what I learned so much off him and we were out fishing I tell you I think we were fishing with a couple from Field & Stream magazine my said that story before and we were chumming away and for some reason I got the match whole thing like they see intrusion when they crumble up the the Caracol beards conscience right in the water
and I didn't he just reached over and watch it drift past on the tie he's just carefully picked it and he said we don't do that in Bermuda cram didn't rent at me didn't shout at me say very calm and he just put it down in the boat and I've never forgotten that and since that time I've been really touchy about a litter so here look we bring it with us put it in a bag I take that back home and at night we'd be bringing that in guys cuz you know the animals would obviously take all of that without paint otherwise you've gone get the bears you don't have any bears but we do have the J yeah so the other thing we built is a small compost bin again out of reclaimed pallet wood this is from the slightly thicker pallets which you get on the the larger ones they're almost twice the length aren't they dad big brother of a standard pallet you can see that by the fitness of this so what we did is used from the G stove we use some of the ash from in there just kept it in there I needed to clear out and we just put layers of well dead mulch almost isn't a dead leaves everything like that a layer of ash then leaves lares and leaves and that all eventually die down and rot down over the period of a few weeks a few months based on possibly the compost bin and then we'll use that in the vegetable the raised vegetable bed which we just made recent in the last episode and round the back here is the pH of resistance out of two harsh sections of pallets are nailed together put a fat nip on it put a little front lip on there which just also locks it all together some malaika's a yeah I think I think every piece of timbers are different size it doesn't it don't matter he's very moving up and that was an old camping container I had to put water so we got God know what three gallons of water or something in there just so people know there is no water source here whatsoever well Dagenham puddle over there yeah there's no fresh water so you would be drinking anything so we ship this one in anything we bring in we can always top it up there and probably we're slide it over here put it here so it does freeze yeah you know it's not gonna split the plastic got in the tap as you saw but I've also got an old plastic washing up Bowl so fed up a taking stuff I'm washing it at home drilled or holding it there and I could just hook it over the side here I'll probably hook it that way actually cuz otherwise the other way the rain will going that can leave it there just like that hook on the front there with a towel on it so I could do the washing up here with the towel as well and have a shave even a wash wash the shade yeah we got our folding sink there and of course we've got the mirror here from a van in there is a man in the mirror that's a song is a song who's just don't from go easy the man in the mirror thanks again for watching this episode of ta outdoors we're certainly making some progress now with the pallet wood was a Paulo at homestead isn't it it's what I call awesome pallet paradise it is it's coming along really well and thanks so much for all your support and your comments if there's any suggestions you guys have of what you'd like to see us try and build with pallet wood here either here at the pallet wood cabin or just in general let us know to us a comment in the comment section below we do actually read all the comments if we can we do yeah we try where we can and don't forget dad's channel ta fishing he's got his own YouTube channel as well weekly fishing videos on there so for myself and my dad and Jax we will see you guys seen in the next episode you
