look at that hey guys welcome to the outlaws thanks for clicking on the video you joining me on an overnight adventure I've got about hour and a half left light I'd say looking at that Sun but in the spring is going to be a spring overnighter and I use a top make a little shelter out there get fire again and get some food going have a beer and just enjoy the lovely spring evening over here in England now I usually do my camps behind me as you can see we do them in point the coniferous forests but the beauty of this is it's mixed woodland and listen to Sid cute there's some deciduous trees over here so I'm going to set up and make a change from the pine I'm very fortunate and I'm going to set up in the deciduous people and you might be able to hear now the leaves crunching below my feet and you can see the actual there you go behind me birch tree the leaves the spring leaves of the silver birch and I'm going to plant myself and set up my shelter right here huge silver birch there and a big old oak tree over there now I checked above me and there's no dead branches on the egg it's pretty busy up there but not only are they going to fall they're all in leaf so there's no dead branches look like they're going to fall that so you can see the tea trees we're going to set the top but the first thing I do there's lots of dead leaves around which is great this is my soft cushion for me to sleep on but as a few broken biologists I've got to clear those first then I can get my ridgeline up [Music]
[Applause]
so if you guys are beginners or you've not set up the tarp shelters before probably a good idea just to set out as a square like this you see the big tree in the background there that I'm going to attach to but I have a quicker method of deployment for this but to see you guys out there who are looking to the top shelters to begin with I may do a full video on it but that is how I start and now I've got to come now and here's slowly Ridge this up there's going to be a CB tops at the top of that's going to come right up here is going to attach to Ridge one's going to go all the way along to there there's the tie-up point I've gone through I've got some cordage here and some cordage of that side and I'll show you how they're not so tired to get my ridgeline up so how can you guys can see this at the end of each ridge Ridgeline each end I've just tied a loop this is just a bowline loop as videos on YouTube how to make it and along to do is take that leave around the tree give the changes hug because it's quite a big one I want to set this about waist height about um chin height sorry because I need the teepee to be the right height so I usually do it limited so now with this leave sorry if it's a bit difficult guys but I've gone round the two that I'm going to push this one three and then the stick goes through there and then I can cinch down on this really tight and you can use it like a ratchet and generally once you've pulled that once it just sits there but you can do a kind of quick release loop if you want it you can just hit you this but if I just pinch it them but I'm not really going to I'm not too bothered about this quick release neat but there's one there now I can go to the other side and do a talk top hitch hopefully yeah lots of Middies around the stitching hope you guys can see this I've got the rest of my ridge line and I'm going to come around which side of the tree it's at that side so you go on this side get it nice and tight again about chin height so I'm around there then I'm gonna come I'll do a separate video knots eventually guys but around here and then cinch it right back tight right now come round the back of this side and then you can let that drop let's make a triangle sum over try and put it back through keep it all tight really cinch that down now hold or not and then I make my quick really sleep pinch it all that way and there we go and there's a talk tarp hitch now it's just a case of getting 10 pegs cut or well just taking off some sticks about six stakes and just tucking the back of the tarp underneath itself stay with me okay I got few sticks literally just going to point them guys they don't even have to be that pointy the ground so softly just making a little stake I'm not I'm really not gonna pointed that much hey that's that is to be honest I'll do that to the rest of my stakes [Applause]
a time
but it would cramp angle for you I suppose come down on earth when you stake out sky kick it out roughly like that I just pick out I always do the back first bat middle first then I come around to the edges and then I do the front last I just helps you to get a better shape when you do in the top shelf
so obviously with the tarp shelter is not completely sealed like a tent but what you can do just to stop the drafts coming under these gaps this is the kind of ground sheet they're from underneath and I have this rope on here anyway this cordage on that sly up point and I just do that wrap it over and I tie it around a few times around that stake and then that keeps it pretty much sealed like a tent so no drafts can come under there and get me colder tonight one of the other things I like about tarp shelters is obviously there's a gap there that goes into the shelter but you can actually regulate temperature a bit better for the summer months so if you wanted a nice breeze coming under there you just pull this up this tie out point up and there's a gap of a bow but you guys from going to see it at 3 or 4 inches or if you wanted to shut that down and shut the draught down you can just lower that and then it all cinches down and pinches down again that's all tucked over anyway but that would stop the drafts coming under and obviously it would make it warmer in your teepee shelter so if cooler or mat you can do that on all the tire points where basically all the tire points around the back you can do that on every if I show you this one just on down here you can still lift it up slide it up for air to allow airflow slide it down to cinch it in up for air flow then take it off down since heat in so here's the shelter I brought it properly tight yet but just seems like oh my dear that is my teepee talk shelter not the best one I've made I've made better but it'll be surrounds you broom you can literally probably get two people in there quite easily this is a 3x3 dd tart there's a link to it in the description I popped in the video description below you get loads of space and I can get my gear in there benefit this compared to my other shelters I've now got Headroom whereas my other low-profile shelter I just kind of crouched down like that it's very good for lying down in but now I can sit up it rained I could just sit back further here the rain will shoot off Bob's your uncle the lovely shelter is very fast to make really took me a bit of time excited to set up the camera but as you can see load the room if it's breezy out you can actually shut these in a bit more these side vents but it's lovely and warm tonight so I won't need to release it undone away see you later that quick tip guys if it's summer or spring time there's going to be more bugs about generally I don't over my sleeping bag until right when I'm going to go to bed purely because if you leave it open you tend to get especially here in the in the British Isles you tend to get bugs and stuff creep in nothing that's going to seriously hurt you but stuff that will annoy you and probably ruin your trip if you get bitten enough times but yeah keep it wrapped up keep it nice and sealed
Chucky's in your shelter because obviously you got the ground sheet in there and then only open it when you're ready for bed top tip there's some stains down to protect the floor a floor a bit and it's super dry in the UK and we've had no rain for about two months I don't want to forest fire I'm just protecting the floor raising my fire a little bit so this is raised up slightly have split bit weird air to allow it to burn quicker but there's about an inch gap underneath and that way the draft and the oxygen can come in and feed the fire nice and easily
hopefully I need to get it going some hungry so I just realized something really cool where I've part up camp here each year they're above me is a bottle smashing look at why it's just they're out there is it buzzes nest it Buzzard one of the coolest birds of prey and the British arse sly they saw really high on the thermals but I haven't heard anything yet so I don't know if they're her only cakes and now I don't know what time of year the chicks hatch all the thought around spring time that don't know the birds of prey I have seen buzzards in here before they swoop in really late they just whizzed across really low but this is the bedroom view as you can see loads of Scots pine everywhere except this little patch like farm which has birch and hang around so it makes change source out there got my self inflating mat bed roll pillow got my old few hand lantern which one like I've later put some beers in there as well so the songbirds are starting to die off and I'll start through cease singing which tells me that dusk is coming I've heard the first owl it's eight o'clock I've heard the first owl so nice to be eight o'clock in this light it's awesome but I need to get this fire going not messing around bit Birchbox my buddy we have fire I like to make a teepee shape generally around my bundle don't know why just to have it I've got really just like making the peepee shape a fine that just makes the flame climb a bit higher through the twigs and then it just burns through a little bit better that's just a personal thing though you don't have to you guys everyone's got the kind of own way of lighting forex whatever works for you this definitely works for me as you can see [Music]
Oh
of my
so got this new grill which I'm going to test out really really looks really good actually there's only five pounds and what it does you can obviously you can grill just like that your steaks just by using it like that or actually I think sweet oh it's got some folding legs so just folds out and it's about under 17 inches long 6 inches wide I think where the dimensions slips right in the back of my backpack and actually by doing that it gives me a nice sturdy frame to the backpack as well at the back so work click difficult arrays to fall out but there we go let me show you what I've got to eat keeping it simple today guys and just going for a bing bada boom burger cannot go Rome wrong with a bow that oh I'm excited already really chuffed with a grill really go get some sticks in there I don't about the flame too much because they will burn oh yes and burgers be cookin and earth is burning they want to Berlin my lantern poll just going to go in about here see I'm gonna a slight angle just so the lantern cancer over and I love the base of the lantern
that'll be think these are doing quite well
oh oh that's hot oh yes the color that burger
spot on alright was close we nearly that people nearly there they um will be cooking good love the grill affiliate use a lot luckily I came prepared and have bats avec cheese left for Marshall for me ish whatever their French coming out in me these burgers are ready baby oh yes burger number one but number two let's get some flame on the fire and hmm I'll tell you what does it taste better than it looks burgers are like one of the well probably the easiest things to cook on an overnighter you can cook them fast you can cook them to how you want what do you want it kind of medium rare well-done anyone who's not done the gnomon item for though these are a good char so annoyed with myself right now the cameras really low light but it's actually almost black here and I was a deer just run across in the background under in the screen see if I can see him I missed it it was absolutely going for it I can hear various theories maybe as usual guys is time for the few hand to come out even though the firelight it's pretty good but I let mind if the fire goes out now say I like this bad boy let's get the wake up a bit hold on oh man wink shot then maybe we won't like it so it's getting dark now I don't want to talk to you guys about a bit gear that I got recently that's pretty much I think everyone needs to have in their outdoor survival bag just general bushcraft bag overnight a bag for sure you're definitely needed something like this so obviously your most important part of Thursday or any part of going out is your mobile phone I would not recommend doing overnight as without a mobile phone even day trips guys there at lifesaver you know you can instantly get a hold of emergency services generally if you've got good enough signal and they boost signal if you don't but it's just it's just you are mad if you don't go out with a mobile phone I know you guys want to come out here in the woods to get away from technology but if you don't bring your phone with you it's game over guys as something goes badly wrong so obviously a phone come out of battery where especially the winter months when it gets really cold and even tonight's going down this sort of 7 degrees it's not cold but it will make your battery deplete quite a bit more than it will on a warm night because batteries don't fare well in the cold any battery so I've got this bit of gear which the guys from alt XE sent me it's the alt XE power bank and these guys are actually helping to sponsor the video so I'd like to say thank you to them that before I go on about this there is all the links you need to know about this product where to get it all the specs about it detailed specs are down in the video description below it's basically sixteen thousand I want to say milliamps the power mah so it's got two USB charge ports it's got one there and then one is the power input there that socket is a USB there and a usb on the side there protected by these rubber seals just to keep it dust proof and things like that the other thing that's really impressive about it I mean it's fairly thin so it will fit in a backpack quite easily but I don't know if you guys can see that hopefully you can
that's a solar panel so yes you can charge it up via the mains and you plug it into the main socket or a USB and you can charge it up by your computer but throughout the day it can gain energy just from this solar panel here which I think's really impressive I'm not seeing it on the battery pack like this before I have had a battery pack before but mine broke on me which is why I did need a new one generally a green light I think appears here when it's charging drivers sale update if you press it on for blue lights come on that means it's on and those lights indicate how much charge you've got less their minds on a full charge so as one of those run out as they you get down to one blue bar it's time to charge it up again it's got a heavy duty of rubberized outer coating here which means if you drop it you can bash it and smash it about and you know it's going hopefully not break on you so it's designed for the outdoors because it how X he has designed this for us tight people us outdoorsy people who tend to break things and bash things around a lot the other thing that's got a little lanyard hole though so if you just stick it in a carabiner or stick it on your backpack or even hang it in a tent or anything like that there's a multiple circuit protection on it so that it doesn't fit out when you're charging it on the mains charger it's got like a cutoff a circuit cutoff and the other thing that's really really good is that you've got if you press this twice the on button bah boom four seriously bright LEDs I mean I don't burn a camera like this you look at that on me actually that's better than less another torch for really bright LEDs and I think they last up to 80 hours on this on this device so that is incredible and again another bonus it's not just the charging device I'm always about you guys know me I'm always about things that are multiple use and for a charging device to have a a solar panel that keeps it charged be a bit of a output that charges your devices which is the main reason for having it but also emergency lighting and SOS mode lights a thank you to our XE for giving me this and helping sponsor the video so you guys can watch it but also please check out their links in the video description below if you're interested in something like this and actually it's really good value for money they're not too expensive and this one is kind of read in the light I'm goona in it and gun just realize I do have a light on my damn thing power bank so yeah innocent gun oak aged beer brewed in small batches handcrafted Scottish beer shout out to you guys in Scotland smooth Scottish beer with hints of toffee vanilla and oak it's a lovely bottle
I like their bottle oak aged it's also nice to know 6.6% I have no ball opener so the old spoon Creek I don't know where that one Cheers
thanks for watching my videos guys oh wow that's lovely hmm
mm-hmm that's lovely and so on to our winner there absolute winner guys remember that they're finishing gum really multi and really toffee like they're dragging out and framing out just got a slightly bigger logs on just for the globe all about the evening glow in the spring I don't need this heat at all what TP sets up their Lambton I dropped the wick into the chamber so I can't light it schoolboy error course a month in there
guys you are life I'm now on a livestream talking on my phone here to some of you guys on YouTube right now on the live on my site overnighter draining my data guys on the livestream you're now in my episode something I've been doing lately is going live on my live streams as live on my live streams Jesus Christ iswhat is this bit 8% or something yeah um live on my overnighters so I'm going to try and show you the camera here guys sorry if you lose signal you're alive you're being filmed look at these comments coming through I know guys technology in bushcraft doesn't really go together but I just wanted to share everyone that you are live being filmed on ta outdoors thank you very much for joining okay sorry about that guys has been a bit of a live stream there and in the process I opened up my beer without showing you guys on YouTube well I showed some of you just in the live stream so the next line is kind of BrewDog let's go Elvis juice and it says it's a grapefruit infused IPA six and a half percent and you can really taste the grapefruit I've never had anything like it really great for you mind you BrewDog a pretty awesome brewery they do like pretty out-there IPAs they're they're really unique generally a really punchy taste hmm
I think it's a while yeah 11 o'clock and it's at midweek is this all night so I want to go do some work tomorrow but guys it's been an absolute pleasure I will see you primarily in the morning just let the fire die out for managed to get bit hardwood bit of oak it's not burnt in the night but doesn't bother me I'm really gutted on my lantern only nice it's about 5:30 and I slept really well actually probably woke up maybe once or twice in a night it's a quietest night animal why so they've got ever had I didn't hear anything
got to get at that game in a minute cook up some breakfast there's my hanging lamp an idea guys I've got the girl leaned up there I thought I was trying to achieve when it was on but I dropped the wick into the reservoir bit so next time you came down to you bye [Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
Oh first things first go get that morning coffee game sound like a pot hire real simple one going to make a notch there knots there and then you just yep click with your saw buy that generally the bar the backhoe or is okay for it and that's made a little cabin notch just nice and quick there you can tidy up with a knife should you so wish but to be honest that's going to hold the pot dead easy the he'll there's a cabin notch that will hang the pot now I just need to point this end with an axe nice and quick all I could give my nice to be fair just a rough point that'll these it's going to go in the ground fine so great thing about this can clean set as well as just you could pop it on the grill like that it's also got these little holes here and I've got this little they use these on fishes mouth to when they're unhooking them and you just it can store away like that so you can store in the container itself and just undo it I'll give it a bit the been generally sticks ing there look the other than key there and then just pull the handles now that's ready to hang on a pot hanger which I've now got to set up those pretty much perfect how lucky is this guys one bit of coffee left look very lucky to me yeah he goes that coffee instant coffee this is medigun off which means gold this is a 10 ounce cook sir as I said last night spotted Beach
oopsie that's very special now he's got fire getting a little bit more because I got some beer con man said to be a con Sanka yeah dead man who knows that film but a movie trivia for you son come on oh that's hot it's quite clear to keep things in a plastic bag guys because then you can take all your rubbish home and away afterwards and it protects all your clothes from insects and animals this is fit cup Danish be together look at that yes I think about three rashes of it yes I love that sizzle lethal sizzle up in the house so I can't read that yeah buddy
morning
what I to do to try and get when it goes down to Amber's like this and you want the flame be don't want time to be I use really thin twigs like this oh that's kind of great thing about this grill look just move it out the way and if you guys can see this got my hand down here in it it's cold so I can just move it out the way loving this grill because of these legs the actual bottom bit down here doesn't get hot well don't take my word for that guys it's going to get hot something applies it's much more difficult like I've got it now on a stone fire raised fire but on the on a wooden floor forest fry be easy dead easy right now just drag it over there we go we back again I look at that zoom in on that for you guys
for this is awesome and you could the great thing about this grill as well as you can tell you you know long sort of long and thin 17 inches long I think so like I've done here once that bacon tribbles a bit you could if you had a pot and you wanted to boil water you just plonk it on the end there like that awesome bit of kit and guys I think I paid about five pounds maybe six pounds for it
so on Amazon I'll pop a link in the video description to this awesome grill loving it
designed for camping so all the steel is food safe for those wondering if it's galvanized everything like that there we go eighteen rack look at that they can done my coffee already it's gone no I'm just showing you a bit of bacon just to make you guys hungry this is how I love my bacon I've done it about you guys but a lot of mine really crispy crispy bacon benefit of having fire on a stone is that obviously the ash calls off quite quickly the stone stays hot but the actual embers you know where the ground would be not really normally really hot if there's like that I've got a lot more water but on that always Leave No Trace people
if you leave fires out and leave and looking ugly then ask bushcraft is get a bad name especially in the UK and then we get banned from going places time to pack up while that's cooling down that's my 2 season sleeping bag which I use in the spring in the summer really cheap one
it is a Highlander tactic 100 rate it down to about comfort of 6 to 10 degrees and yes comfort of 10 degrees low of 6 degrees which it was last night and extreme of -10 but I wouldn't no way do minus 10 in this bag please will nuts off this if your ground sleeping guys is own must not this exact one but just a self inflating mat or an inflatable mat just tracks your body heat in between the soft foam here and I could really feel it last night how warm it was on my back so the more you blow it up generally the more heat you know the distance you can trap between you and the forest off awesome bit kit really push crafts color pillow just like before self inflating pillow but I wrapped my shemagh around it you don't have to have a self complaint inflating pillow you can just use clothing which I've done many a time before it's up relatively small as well I've shown this to you guys before but maybe not to new subscribers this is basically a mini travel towel packs up ridiculously small it's got a little loop there so you can put on a carbine or whatever got some mesh so it can breathe and it's about 16 inches by 16 inches I'd say literally it is the best one of the best bit of kit I've ever had so simple I just use it to wipe my pots and pans just to get the most of the gunk out of them more for like frying pans and things like that but just wipe the pot give it a wipe what a little bit it's really handy things like the spork which can get quite gunky protects my backpack longer as well and then when you're done it's all clipped in anyway so you can clip it in and out if you wanted to take it off and use as a flannel or whatever but it's meant to be a towel and anoint it just stuffs in its own little mini stuff sack great piece of kit everyone should have one really for company there you go basically every bit of kit I have today fits in my bag totally suck
and this is how easy it is the perfect way
and that's how small it packed bounty she's my Sikh that was the papaya this is he cold so that the water are calling it eventually when I do the water I call in it will then go down the holes and put the Potter up there eventually burning underground
you wouldn't even know I was here Leave No Trace Oh the game trail behind me that's a game trail going up they'd see where the animals have been probably the deer that I saw yesterday oh so I think anyway guys thank you very much for watching the video I appreciate it if you're still hanging about and you're still watching it kudos to you it's been a fairly long run so I really appreciate that thank you very much for all your support and your kind comments please do hit the subscribe button if you're not subscribed to the channel please do and you can get a notification then whenever I upload a new video and give the video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it some of you have been asking about longer overnighters you know kinda do some more longer ones yes I definitely can I've got a three three nine overnights are coming up
well I'm build it yep I'm going on a three nine over nine to next week so be up in the next few weeks probably really appreciate your support guys thank you you
