Hammock Kit for Ponchos - Shuttle Sling - Winter Hammock Setup

Description

The Hammock Kit for Ponchos gives you everything you need to put up our ponchos as hammocks; PE tree straps, Dyneema shuttle sling, marlin spikes, Dyneema runners and ripstop storage bag. All our Ponchos come with 2 hanks of parachute cord which can be used to hang a hammock or make a tarp, but the Hammock Kit gives everything to hang in style in a handy pouch. In this video I'm up on a ridge at over 9000 feet elevation. It is generally windy and often very gusty. I show a winter hammock setup that is suitable for the conditions. Using our Survival Blanket (PSBL) and the Osni Cloak inside the windproof hammock I am in good shape without the need for a tarp or other protections.

NOTE: anyone who has orders still being filled may contact us to substitute the new Shuttle Sling for the Whoopie Sling 2. Nothing wrong with the WS2, but the new one is lighter, smaller and easier to use.

now all of our ponchos come with parachute cord to Hanks of 550 cord so even without the kit you can put up put up any of the Poncho's as a hammock so the kick gives you everything you need to do a really nice job of setting up a hammock

here's my new sling not a Whoopie sling this time this is this is called a shuttle sling because the eye the eye right here is on a shuttle that slides simply slides up and down the Dyneema sling cord

right now it's been pretty windy around here so I'm going to put this up a little lower alright so this is how this sling works to see this this chord right here this is the static line that I nema line that attaches to the tree this little section right here from right there out to right here that's called the shuttle the shuttle runs up and down the the static Dyneema line and that's what gives us our tension or leaves our hammock up and down as you can see how simple that was I need to drop it down a little I just grabbed it this in I can put a however far I want in just a moment so all right so so there I am it's very simple like I say we've got 30% less weight and 30% less volume so I want to show you is is what I've done here now as I I loosened up my hammock tension just a little bit the tighter you get it the more it wants to wrap around you so it puts you more into kind of a cocoon if I want to have a little more space I got to loosen it up just a little bit so I did that and then I took one of my PSB ELLs my large blanket here and I folded it into thirds and laid it in the bottom here so now that would give me that'll give me a quite a bit of insulation underneath me to lay on I've got the oceany on top of me well I don't know what's going on with my camera here but you know battery's dead I just charged it all right so I get down in here I wrapped my blanket around around me from the knees down you know well basically lower than where the oceany covers

try to get all on me in here so here we go well holed up inside my hammock here tied up up here to the trees with ears on one of our new shuttle slings you know one of the things here is is it's really been gusty quite windy up here knocked when I first put my hammock up was blowing in the wind like a sail thought is gonna take the trees down but but one of the nice things about it is once you get inside of it because our hammock is made out of a poncho it's also wind proof so even though the wind is blowing out here it's not blowing through me because the the poncho slash hammock is wind proof you

you
