No Cord Hammock Hang - Poncho makes into Hammock - Carabiner use

Description

Our PSS poncho series all make into hammocks for a comfortable sleep. The ponchos come with cordage to hang them as hammocks or for use in setting them up as tarps, another option is to use a carabiner in place of a cord, then just connect that to a set of tree straps. It's simple. We supply our ponchos with parachute cord because it a versatile way to use the poncho in many different ways, like a tarp, a chair, or various other shelters.

We consider our PSS series ponchos as survival gear, but they are effective and comfortable enough to use all the time, and we encourage that. Using tree straps and carabiners can limit tree damage in areas where they are needed, and they can make set up and take down a breeze. Though not generally necessary, they can be a handy option.

there's something else to consider the last a little bit i've been testing and trying out using three straps with our ponchos when we set them up as hammocks and in conjunction with that i've i've been messing around with just using a carabiner in the end instead of any kind of cordage at all on the on the end of the poncho to make a turn it into a hammock I found it you get it you get a decent sized carabiner like this one right here that's that's big enough to easily to easily allow me to pull all that around I can still work the gate and all that to clip this into the tree straps now I had I had oh I don't know maybe a year or more ago maybe a couple years ago I'd messed around with using actually one of my kid my daughter's gave me this carabiner here for Christmas or my birthday or something but I had put this through one of our ponchos clear back then did I that'll go through it now but I wasn't using tree strapped to the time so I kind of thought well I really watch the point you still gotta tie a rope to it and all that sort of thing you know now I'm test I'm testing the PD shelter so don't don't pay attention looks like you're going to blow away a break it hasn't yet so what you want to make sure of it some of your some of your cheap hardware and stuff may have points or edges on it that might be sharp or whatever that's the case you want to bust some of that off so we don't want any sharp edges anywhere typically right here in the mouth of the for the gate for the gate locks up here it's not uncommon to get an edge here that might be kind of sharp or have a little edge on it or something so you just want to feel around there there's anything that is a little bit sharper so just take some fine sandpaper just kind of buff it out so it's me but typically you're better carabiners you're not going to have a problem with them but something like this size right here what works pretty well now if you have a HD poncho I don't know how big a I don't know how big a carabiner you'd need for that but anyway so are you doing a nice thing if you have a you have a nice carabiner that has a smooth nose on and everything like it allows you to pull this thing on here see pretty quick I'm not having to get any kind of hang ups or anything like that so here I can get right around here no problem right there lock my gate and then and then we are right there I'm ready to hang now this is the ultralight realtree xtra so it's I can even get a smaller care being on there like this size here which is that's considerably smaller than that one let me take this right now let's go let's go hook it up to the tree straps I left in place from where I slept last night and just show you how it works let me give let me give some credit to my friend Dave here on this carabiner idea because I kind of forgotten about it from a couple years ago but then he watched the video from last week where I showed trying out these these tree straps and he is talking to me the other day and he said well what if you just put a carabiner right through the end of the pod to itself and not use any chord so anyway he's he got you got the credit for for the idea so I'm going to do here is just release the gate go in here wherever I think I want you to start with so there that's it that ends that end is done ready to go all right now let's take this other in and put it in here like that and I do want to make sure before I actually get into it I want to make sure my my fabric on my poncho here is not caught any words it's lit around so that it's all smooth it's going to sit where it needs to go but there we go very very fast easy to set up even this big carabiner if you had something like that Helen right there is that right there I mean that's that's pretty fast just to slide that big through there and you know you could even you leave them in there just pull it pull them out whenever you need to use the thing is a poncho so then it would be really fast anyway perry peacock willis innovation messing around a little bit more at the three steps works pretty good as you can see
