That's the name I know it by, my grandfather who in his early days hauled freight by horse and wagon, used this knot and passed it to my dad and me. Try it out you'll love it!! hey Perry peacock here with wilderness innovation and I wanted to show you just a quick tip on a nut it's called the trucker's knot

at least that's what I grew up with it as I know there's some other names for it but that's what I knew it as my grandfather was a when he was a teenager whatever he was a teamster horse and wagon hauling Freight and he became a beekeeper later on and my dad became a beekeeper eventually and and this knot was used to tie the Beehive boxes onto the truck and so I learned it as a kid and it can be pretty useful when you really need to crank down on something and tighten something down a quite a bit so let me show you this not real quick okay so here's how you do the trucker's nut got your load tied down here you rope up over your load we're going to do is take our free end of the rope here and what I like to do is just grab a loop you want to pull it up as high as you can because when you we're going to pull down on this to tighten it so I'll get up about right here I've got me a loop I'll show you one more time here I've taken my free end and kind of draped it over right here and then I just kind of pull this up and then I just want to put it I'm just going to put it through here like that this knot this it just kind of rolls over like that so now I've got me a loop here

okay and you can see my free end pulls through this little loop that I have this little bite that I made in the rope right there okay so what this does this turns this thing into like a pulley almost so it can multiply the effort when I go to tighten down on this so see you notice I'm not I'm not pulling the rope from the other side like you would with a regular knot and I'm actually using a pulley of type system here to pull down on this thing if I pull down on this heart I could actually break something so but this not works very well it's easy to tie it off right here by throwing a couple half hitches if you wanted to I could throw just a slippery half in here if I wanted to it's easy to easy to secure the knot one nice thing about it is you can crank down on this thing like crazy like I said in the intro my dad actually used to break some of our B boxes for our beehives if he cracked down on it too much so you can really crank down tight the nice thing is it's very easy to undo I mean you can really crank down on it hard but it's very easy to undo it so there we are the trucker's nut they tell you want to make sure you get enough lube up there get it and you get it turned up and kind of pull this part right here down so that doesn't roll over on you you can my dad sometimes it actually put this through one more time up top just to secure the lube but I don't know never really had a problem that so there you are the trucker's not very useful in certain situations if you really need to hold a load down tight some wood or whatever a bundle of bundle logs or anything like that this knot right here will crank it right down on it tight very peacock wilderness innovation have a great day we are at snowing nothing better than that dad used to do this on the Beehive sometimes he actually broke some of the boxes because you could pull so much weight on the thing
