The Twig Stove

Description

This video shows the first twig stove I made in about 1986. It will heat a cup of ice water to boiling in around 1 minute. Uses twigs for fuel.

well I'm perry peacock with wilderness innovations i'm here to show you the demonstration of a project that we that i worked on some I don't know 20 or 25 years ago and just found it laying around and kind of worked on resurrecting it this is actually and I actually I call it a twig stove and the initial theory of it was to be able to go into the high country above the tree line be able to burn twigs and twisted dried clumps of I take dried clumps of grass and twist them together and kind of and so there are kind of a tight bundle shove all that down inside of here be able to use that as your fuel rather than have to bring fuel along with you so I'm going to go ahead and put some some leaves and stuff down in here and get it started I'm a one of the easy ways to do this is with our you seen some of the other videos where we use wax coated rope rope the soaked in paraffin wax if I I need to use that i'll probably just for the sake of time and convenience here rather than strike it off for the magnesium starter or something like that i'll just use a lighter just for our purposes here drop that down in here and and that will get everything here going and once we've got a little bit of flame going I'm going to turn this thing on that's when you hear the noise and everything but but if you can't hear me talking just just watch it I've got about a cup of ice water out of the cooler over here in in this can and let this thing run for a little bit this thing actually can put out a pretty good amount of heat so let's go ahead and get started it's going to let that wax rope and I'm just going to kind of let that thing sit in the bottom of there and I'm going to plug in the battery to this thing so it can kind of give us a little air in there

now you can see if I have the variable speed on here once this thing gets going I could actually turn it down some and we wouldn't play not quite like this but right at the moment this initial prototype only has 11 speed and that's all the way this thing really puts out the heat so you see how you see how hot that thing gets in there it's just those coals are just absolutely just roasting this this water is almost being hot enough four hot chocolates it's fairly warm not too not too hot to burn you yet but but anyway that's the that's the twig stove prototype basically prototype number one so now I hope you enjoyed that little demonstration it's something a little unique brought to you by wilderness innovations we'll see on the next video you
