Make a Dowell Pin on a Pole in the Woods -Bushcraft - Campcraft - Shelter

Shelters and camp convenience items such as tables, chairs, gear racks, etc, can easily be made if you know how. the tie out tabs on the tarp I've I've carved that in just a little bit I did a video last year where I showed how to do that very quickly just a matter of a minute or so now give me a little peg right here that I can tie off to you oh well since I'm just take her around here by the fire is going to show you how you do the the wood on the end of my stretchers for my canopy but now how I make it's a smaller diameter I think I've said this before but we'll just do a dedicated video for it so basically just come got a stick it needs to be smaller diameter fit over there or you just want to have kind of a pin left in it so I got to do really just decide how just decide how tall the pin needs to be no the taller the pin needs to be the farther down you come so usually you know we can go usually we can go about an inch or so down and if I don't have to go too far down if I don't have to make it much smaller likes I can go to the depth of the teeth all the way around and it'll be about the same or I can go a little bit more if I want to make it a little smaller so now I'll just rotate it a little bit I'll go down about the same rotate it a little more you're not used to side very much you might want to use a leather glove doing this you really don't want to slip and hang up your hand you know with the saw but I grew up with and hand wood saws and my dad shops I'm kind of been used to it I'm doing very much a lot of times I'll slide a pair of gloves on though especially if you want to be in kind of a hurry with what you're doing and all that sort of thing gonna clean it out just a little more that'll do it right there so the next thing you want to do is you want to have a just gonna hold this with my between my boots here so what I want to do is I can come in I can come in about the width of my blade or a little bit more so you want to do is just give a little tap with a little mallet or we call these things a baton and if you want to get really pretty you know you can make this thing just really nice and round and just good looking you know look like it you could make this look like it's done in a machine shop if you want but turned on a lathe practically but anyway so you see right there we've narrowed it down a ways and I can take more off of it than that and I purposely took a little bit less off because I wanted to be able to if I did it as much as I could do all at once it only be a few chops and I'd be done but I just want you to be able to see what you can do I do these kind of things commonly all the time it just makes a nice little makes a nice little way to kind of drill something down a little bit so now I've got I've got all that now I can come like this and this thing just gives me a little knot right there depending on but I can just go around like this and clean it all up I really want to make it round or something I can spend the time on that usually I'm not too worried about it but anyway so there's very simply and quickly how to make you a little there's how to make you a little pin on a piece of wood that makes it really handy when you when you have a loop on a tarp or something like that that needs to slip over something it works very nicely so anyway there's there's how to do that and I'll put the camera up here and we'll show will show how we how it fits on the tarp or on the canopy bug net so you see very simple very quick to do so right here see there's my there's my little pin I made on the end of that there's my tab on the end of this canopy bug net so I just pull that over the end of that that'll hold it in place if I'm doing it upright I can put some parachute cord around and pull back on because it can't slide off that shoulder so anyway that's one of the ways we use it very simple very effective you
