Nine Mile Ranch Camp with Shauna - Exploring 42 miles of Indian Art

Description

Shauna and I went in the early spring to camp and explore an area where Indians lived for thousands of years, leaving lots of art on the red rock canyon walls. We camped at a ranch owned by a family who has lived there all their lives. Our ponchos were used as hammocks for sleeping and one day actually as ponchos when a cloudburst erupted. here's some more this is called balance truck so uh quite a nice little panel here so these panels are right over there and this rock right there just sitting on a tiny little pad right there balance truck unfortunately people have made their own marks here well we got some nice pork chops frying up in the fire here and pork and beans and I get yourself a piece of me Hey

that was better what now to be wonderful pushing these beans well it's breakfast time up here so we've got some bacon ready to go in yeah we'll make it work plenty of bacon go in here and it's a lot more than we need for breakfast but well there's the last bit of bacon all cooked up John has got a pretty good tight got all that bacon well you know you can't have too much bacon well we'll get us some get us some french toast going here that eggs about frozen

now get this all stirred up here and we'll be ready to rock and roll with French toast even brought the chokecherry syrup this time oh yeah look at that that's perfect really nice we're going to have some good breakfast here there's just some more I'm choked carry syrup

yeah there you go that yep look at that just shopping and choked cherry syrup I'm so addicted to choke carry syrup at six well bacon to go along with it well here's Sean to set up here's how she likes to do she's actually doing a snowfall HD she's actually doing a snowfall HD Pancho has her hammock and but anyway so she's got an under quilt underneath here right here and you notice we don't worry about matching anything and then Shana likes to just lay a blanket over the top of her once he gets in there and just drape it over there and just let it sit there just like this and that's how she likes to sleep and she'll get with Chile she'll get all the way inside if not you'll have her head out so very simple but anyway so that's how she likes to do it running affinity of life you watch many my videos you already know how I do my blanket but but I secure I secure like the foot in with a shock cord so it gathers everything up I attach one edge to my poncho and then I let it go all the way underneath I bring it up over the back drop it down so I do a wrap around Shana does a layover if I if I decide that I want to have my head out and I'll just fold part of it back here where my head is and I'm good to go [Music]

policies so here's a here's a panel here depicting us and buffaloes sheep one of the things up in there and here we got some more sheep and stuff a lot of panels in this area I took a tumble a minute ago well I did slide lot of stuff is pretty loose and in place is pretty steep but I can see some art up ahead I'll get up a little closer here there shot it down there so it looks like a bird or something now in that one

okay so here's one it's pretty big looks like the body goes clear back here like this but I'm thinking this is probably an elk

look at the antlers really big so tonight was going back right here's one of that greeneries shot have shown you the entrance there so this isn't very far above regular ground level but you know if you're going to store some grain or something you'd want to get up out of a floodplain so you'd want to be elevated a little bit so it would make sense to come up somewhere like this some colors and the different layers and everything in them and up on top to see some of the erosion some little pinnacles and stuff left different color and all that rock look at these narrow the fins of canyons would come out through here this is just an amazing amazing scenery so there's a baby rattlesnake right there somebody drove over at the car Curtin's on that dude we're headed to a place called Fremont village and I believe we're headed up here to this rock and see what see what kind of ruins and stuff we got up there so this whole thing back to here is one giant boulder and like they have stacked up stones here to make kind of an entrance and probably some of the stones back in there may have been stacked up there and I've fallen in or something underneath that that Boulder and one the same size behind it virtually the whole underneath is all hollowed out looks like we got wash water running through here almost submit things and we drive through that's what they're for looks like they've even drawn in some of the young deer sheep or whatever it is they're hunting looks like there's a snake or two in there 952 1200 BC or Davy
