I'm up today and I want to do a quick little tip on some field repairs and I've got a I've got a pair a pair of kind of cross trainers here that I like to wear I can ran on a not carrying a load and just kind of moving quick through the country and and I just want to show you a repair to this shoe alright so you see this shoe right here in the front the tongue is the tip of it has kind of come unbonded and it's actually starting to pull down a little bit into there the worst part of that is it keeps pulling keeps pulling like this and it can pull it clear back and break it off or whatever and if your back in a ways you know you don't want to be walking out without shoes alright so the first thing we're going to do here is get so we got some access make a little easier to get at kind of back up in in the front of the toe here so I'm going to do is it's going to unlace this thing there we go see now I can get my fingers right in there or I need to get hopefully you've watched our video on using the speedy stitcher we have a video up there on how to use it and tell us a lot more detail not going to go into all that I'm just going to start into this and I think I'm going to do some stitches starting maybe down here and then come up around here and down like that maybe ten stitches or so something like that alright so here we go I'm going to pull back a little bit of thread to start with so I get this get it through here try to clean out any extra junk I'm not going to worry about her I could if I want it to stitch clear back in there but you know these these things have probably lived their useful life but if I'm out somewhere and I need to get back I'd rather I'd rather fix these things and get back safely and easily then get stranded somewheres all right so just go from there all right so I'm into here like we show in that other video I want to pull a little bit of thread out on the inside that's how we make our locking stitch so now I just decide I'm going to come up here about like that like so I'm going to punch through and when I pull back on the inside you'll have to watch the other video to see it but when I pull back on the inside leaves a little loop and I'm going to put the end of this piece of thread it's on the inside through that loop and pull it back and tension it okay now we've got it through we put our thread through the little loop on the inside so now we pull back we put some pressure on this behind here we pull nice and tight let out a little bit of thread here so we got enough room to go in again and now I want to go that right here I think pull it back out I'm going to hook it through the loop again and we just keep going like that all right I've got it halfway and I'm I'm needing more thread to be able to work with this so I'm going to do is I'm going to end my I'm going to end it here and what I'm doing is I'm grabbing the loop of thread inside and I'm pulling out of the bobbin to the inside I need enough so I can tie a square knot inside of here to tie the end of this off so I'm just pulling me out enough pulling me out enough thread here where I got the ability to pull half enough thread here I got the build of your time you're not that's what I'm doing

cut this thing off with the little knife here alright so I'm going to do see my thread was getting short in there I think doing this again I would use the formula my boss used to tell me when you're figuring out how much of something he said use a formula P equals plenty get a square knot tied inside of here and I that keeps all that from coming undone I'll do a couple more few more stitches here now we're good to go and alright I've come upon a I've come upon a way to do this a little bit easier and what I'm doing is now you'll have to watch the other video first to kind of see how you using the speed stitcher because I can't show you inside here but instead of making just a little tiny loop that it makes when I pull back but what I'm doing is when I pull back I'm grabbing the loop with my fingers and I'm pulling it out where I got that loop clear out here I pulled it that big and then all I've got to do is take my free end put it through that loop pull it back out and now the only difference is when I pull out here I've got a lot of slack to pull out see but that makes it infinitely easier on the inside anywhere else on the shoe is a piece of cake if it came on down any other place it's easy to sew it up with this for that toe because you're clear back in there

it's kind of rough but I'm figuring it out here bottom line you know if I as if I'm back in somewhere and I got to get out I ain't losing my shoes you know if I got to sit here for a half hour an hour and and get these things fixed up so that I can get out of here without my shoes coming apart I'm doing it man I ain't walking out of here that shoes of course I do have some duct tape in my survival kit I could wrap it around there probably alright I just finished my stitches here all right that's a pretty nice that's a pretty nice deal right there man so now what I do here is like we shown the other in the training video so now what we do we're just going down in here and doing a I usually do two or three square knots just to just to make sure I got it and right down in there area

get her tightened up and we're good to go man

hey if you had a little bit of some surgeons tools would be nice yeah I won't lie to you that I was a little aggravated here for a while this was uh this is a little harder today than I thought it would be but I'm pretty I'm pretty happy with it now one of the big things was like I showed was pulling the loop outside where you you know where you got something to where you can work on it out here instead of trying to fish it through inside and the other thing is pulling out plenty of plenty of thread to the inside so you got stuff to work with I mean the stuff the thread is cheap anyhow so bottom line you just you're trying to get out of the dang mountains without being stranded so what I'm going to do I could cut those off I'm just going to leave that in there it'll make it harder for it to come all undone and then I just put my footbed back inside of here on top of that and then I just laced these shoes back up and I'll be good to go man that's a nice fix who knows that might last me a good while yet anyway anyway this is this is Perry peacock with wilderness innovation fixing my dang shoes and being frustrated a little bit but we got her done patience patience patience just keep on until it's done and then you're good to go so have a great day and we'll see on another video all right so there's my

there's my repair good shape all right so get up through here and walk around on that baby good repair in good shape I believe let's do some hiking those soul pairs hang it in there topped off on a peak up here you
