Make a Wilderness Couch

Description

When out in the woods it's important to try to make yourself comfortable, especially if the duration may be longer. The couch we make here is warmed by the fire. it gets us up off the ground, the boughs make it soft. You can relax or even take a nap. daytime view of the bank so we made last night started out as just a just a place to sit up off the snow then Ben got an idea to put her back on it so he could sit out and lean against the back so let's show you a little bit about what we got going on here we see from the back side we got our crosspiece base log right there and then we got our stringers running this way then we got another log reading this way to boost it up a little higher and then we put some stringers to stringers on the back and that gives us kind of our backrest now we'll show you in a minute we notched everything out so everything stays in place real easy feel good in a and then and then we just cut some some pine boughs mostly off of mostly off of a tree that got everything busted off of it when we dropped another tree but so see there's our bench nicely paddle about our backrest nothing got blue armrest on the side here pretty nice we put some boughs on the snow down here kind of keep our feet up off that when we're sitting now we get the fire right here in front of us and the fire we did we built the back wall on there but 33 or 39 feet tall and then that dad has stayed through the night burned a lot of stuff is still standing and that that was real nice with having having our bench right here and having the fire right there at that nice back wall reflector really made it nice and cozy here so let's deconstruct this bench and we'll show you what we got going on here alright so here's there's the bench right here with all the boughs on Ben and I are gonna remove all the boughs off here so you can just see them construction with the wood for anybody worried about we cut down green boughs and junk whatever we do that typically either you know you got a storm must knocked over tree we try to get stuff from there or if we're gathering boughs we typically will gather a few from a tree and move on to another tree so in the end you really can't tell that we've pulled it off we don't just go d knew the whole tree anyway so now I'm moving on here so originally we had 33 logs up here and we just made a bench here and then Ben had ideas but I well what if we could make a bench in the back of it so we kind of redid it and I put two up here and another down here too so we can have a seating spot so we'll just show you kind of kind of how we laid that out here now you can see what we did is took our little camp hatchet and just cut some little notches in here for all these to sit in and once you do that well show you I can sit I can sit down in here and you know if I wiggle on this thing and everything I mean it it doesn't wiggle in any direction it's nice and solid so just cut cutting those little V notches in there keeps everything locked you so let's show we just pull these off let's touch back here so this we put this set of logs in crosswalks here so we need it to be higher above the snow so that's what originally but then we turned it into supporting our backrest and so we got the notches there you can see we went in with the actually trimmed everything smooth toss these offer fairly heavy so there's our base three stringers so this is our seat I don't know if we tech well we needed that back when the support our our top plugs and you see we notched in here here here then we also notched in the bottom here so time you get notches on in this way notches on this way when you sit on it you got the weight of it this thing does not move at all that's very secure

then down to our downloads we started with that like I say I made us a very nice really cuz II bench to sit on around the fire yeah and you know better be here a few days or whatever you know we'd it some more time water we probably why not just burped on those but we'll just stack these up here and leave them for the next person that comes they can burn that stuff up or whatever they want to do so anyway the spare Ian parian band get over here band today is a period ban were up here had us a nice little camp here just show you a couple things we did for fun we like to tinker around whenever we go out that's kind of a learning experience so try some stuff so you know we had a blast so anyway wilderness innovation have a great day Oh
