Description

Krik of Black Owl Outdoors shows off a piece of his newest leather creations, an oil tanned leather belt pouch. Sized just big enough for an Altoids tin and two trust Bic lighters, the classic looking belt pouch is actually a blending of multiple types of leather. Krik used an oil tanned leather for the majority of the pouch, along with varying weights of veg tanned leather for accents and support.

hey what's up Turtles its Creek here I wanted to to share with you my newest letter creation that's just little belt pouch I made I'm super happy with this usually when I make something I'm super hard on myself I'm really hard on myself and always critique it I am my biggest critic but I'm really happy with this this is the first time I actually got a chance to to use this oil leather and this is oiled leather it's called it has this feel to it because it's you know basically it's they call it oil leather oil treat it leather and it's done through a process of like adding a lot of oil in different waxes and what you what you're left with it was just like a super pliable leather really durable then you get these really cool effects that if you see right here when I pinch this it might be a little bit hard to see but you can see when I pinch it and sort of stress it it gets lighter where I do that and then it goes back to its normal color or see if I move it it might be a little bit hard to see but for contrast this is a this is a veg Stan leather that I dyed and oil treated myself you can see the contrast to the burgundy leather and I got this from the outlet at Andy outlet I think I'm on their mailing list for the outlet special stuff you can only get online you camp get in Tandy stores because I do shop at Tandy I go to the store to get my leather supplies and stuff I got like a really small amount of this and I'm really happy I decided to buy and experiment with it because this belt pouch is just BAM I really love this thing I really I'm kinda happy with this and this is actually another type of vegetative I have it's a little bit thinner this strap right here the belt loops are the same type this side on this side is a was veg tannin and I dyed it and oiled it myself but I'm just really happy really happy with the character that I was able to produce with the snap and truth be told I really didn't design this around and outdoors 10 which a price showed up I was just kind of going off of feeling creative and I wanted to sit down and make something one night but if it's outdoors in perfectly you can see too big to full size big lighters sitting right there riding right next to it it's just a perfect little size for a fire kid obviously anything you can put in Altoids 10 even if you didn't want to it's plenty of space in here and it's going to be a really nice companion for one like I'm coming out to the forest and I don't want to carry a bag but I still obviously want all the essentials you know I still want I still want my fire stuff and and it put you and put snacks in there but like when I'm using my regular bags usually I like to use a hip belt and I and I can't really carry stuff like this on my belt if I'm going to be carrying a pack that I use the hip belt so what I really want to do is get a kit buttoned up without carrying a bag on my back you know use my water bottle sling out if you've seen that my water bottle sling in conjunction with this and maybe I'll make another one and actually this is a belt I made for myself as a vet Stan belt it was kind of crappy leather so that's why I kept it for myself but I went experiment with some different stuff finishes and died but it works so I'm going to use it too it falls apart maybe hopefully 20 years I know I'm not the only person out there that tinker's so you got a channel you want to show me some of the stuff you made you like to use I'd be all into that I love seeing homemade stuff little audio recorder sticking out made this little doodad for audio recorder this is Roger oh nice on the hip it's really tight right now going over that that button stud because this is going to where we're at the time more I use it but super happy with this BAM so like I said if you're a tinkerer you like to make homemade stuff put a video up and figure out some way to tag us or or let me know because like I said I love seeing homemade stuff that people make and use themselves I really think that's like one of the coolest things in the world to to make something yourself and use it I really really like doing that so make a video if you feel inclined and down I just want to share share this with you maybe gives you some ideas and also I do sell some leather on the side and maybe if you follow us on Instagram you see me put some of my projects up there and do blackout supply their retail wing of blackout outdoors we're going to maybe start selling some of my stuff my leather stuff we're auctioning it or giveaway so if you're not on Instagram or if you're going to Graham and you're not following let's go ahead and find us and keep you up to date with that blackout supply - so alright this is Craig signing out with blackout outdoors later Turtles
