suck Turtles Creek here with black outdoors and right now I'm going to be talking about my headlamp of choice this is the Petzl tactical XP in the desert tan combination headband and lighthouse saying it also comes in a camouflage combination retails for around 60 bucks it is a single single LED bulb in here power power wise 40 lumens and the maximum distance you're going to get on a beam off of this light is going to be 50 meters on the boost mode and what the boost mode is there's a small button on the top of the the headlamp right here and my finger is and I'll hold and press that for 20 seconds it's going to give me a 50 meter a strong light beam and that only lasts for 20 seconds for battery life purposes and in addition to the boost mode there's three other lighting modes lighting intensities there's a you know maximum which is gonna give you 35 meters and you have one below that and then finally economic which is gonna see if your batteries increase your battery life the longest in addition to the three lighting modes is also a strobe function which is really cool which I also use on my bicycle if I'm riding at night in traffic which is already dangerous enough just to light up myself you know like the fourth of July at night and use a strobe function while I'm riding my bicycle at night and now the main reason why I really like and purchased this particular headlamp design is the sliding lens on the front here which slides across a single LED bulb and this comes with four total there's four different color Turtles there's red green blue and a clear diffuser interchangeable lens on the front of this and on the side of the band here there's a place to store one other lens you can carry on the on the headlamp which is really nice so there I have the red on here and the blue one currently in the headlamp and I prefer to use these lenses at night being primary colors it makes sense since our color visions trichromatic with our cones and the way we a certain light spectra we can pick up it makes more sense to use this light spectrum one of the red green or blues at night because it doesn't mess with our night vision when we're trying to see white light and like I said it's the main reason why I bought this sari from the side here there's a battery life indicator which so I put a flash a different life of the battery which is nice indicator as well this is semi waterproof there's an o-ring if I pop this open there's an o-ring in here which I see this is really easy to do if you have something to pry it open but there's a tab right here I'm gonna pull hit the back off of it okay camera pick it up there's a smell there's a black earring running around here rubber o-ring so it's Wednesday its permanent our you know waterproof but definitely how the water is just that never had any water getting to three Triple A batteries and that's why I'm on the subject of headlamps and light sources I really don't like to use white light at night for a few reasons one I've already mentioned about messing with your night vision having your eyes to readjust when there's a bright flash of light and also a battery is in it's an infinite source and I'm sorry is a finite source and it's gonna it's not gonna last forever so my philosophy is if I'm out practicing walking in the woods at night without a light if you can look around me you can see is a really highlighter the forest is really highlighted around me from the snow the recent snowed fall and depending what the moon was gonna be you know if there was no moon out tonight no moonlight and it was cloudy I'd still be able to navigate through these forests very effectively without without a light on and yes it's gonna be slower walking there's an increased chance of injury but you know but with being used to navigating without just with your eyes as a sense and using all your other senses I think it's a really good skill to have so I don't always like to use this at night on any any light spectra and just a little caveat if you're around camp and you see someone with a blue or green or red light on and you have your third eye torch in right here and you're walking around just blasting after white light just keep it out of people's eyes Thanks so this is the headlamp of my choice Petzl tikka XP its perks signing out blackout doors later turtles
