REI Stratus | Insulated Inflatable Sleeping Pad | Field Review

Description

Krik of Black Owl Outdoors reviews the REI Stratus insulated inflatable sleeping pad. A tubular design, the REI Stratus packs down nicely yet affords 2.5 inches of R3 insulation between you and the ground. A light sleeping pad, the Stratus, is perfect for the backpacker concerned with weight, or the camper who needs more space for their coolers and beverages.

sup Turtles Creek with blackout outdoors and I'm gonna be doing a review on the REI Stratus insulated air pad it retails for seventy nine fifty to eighty nine fifty depending on the size I chose the large which measures seventy seven inches by 25 inches it weighs 25 ounces blows up to two and a half inches of thickness as our value of three so will provide insulation on colder nights

it's a tubular design the long tubes and I'm gonna get it out show you how to blow it up show you the valve and go over some more features so the reason why I really like this pad one of them is this packs down to really small this is about 910 inches by five and a half or six comes in this stuff sack

and I've slept on this probably over a hundred times

the bottom is water-resistant comes in this green not sure exactly the color re eyes calling it but to screen the valve blow in the valve open when you want to close it press it and turning it up turn and lock but does not take long to blow up at all put some breaths in it and before I do that just want to make a important point if you're gonna take this camping or backpacking you do realize that this can puncture be basically rendered useless so as a decision you have to make for yourself before you go out that if this punctures and you're not able to fix it in the field what are you going to do I make that decision sometimes I take really cheap mats out with me and don't even take them a pad but you know it works really well it's really comfortable to sleep warm

if you meet me at the end I get this blown up I'll show you or it looks like it only took me about a couple minutes to blow this up on cold nights you'll notice a little bit of air will go out of it that's just because of your warm air in your lungs you know then getting cold throughout the night so it's something to keep in mind in colder temperatures just because of the r-value Primaloft offers the insulation and cushioning the top of the pad is ripstop the bottom 75 denier the outer two tubes are wider or bigger than the rest just to help you from staying on the mat at night not rolling off I chose to get the large seriously get the largest because I had a I had a regular size 20 inch weight in an X bed similar design pad and it just wasn't wide enough for me my my arms were kind of fall off the side when I was on my back sleeping at night so I got the large in this one you can definitely sleep on your side on this and never hit a hit a hot spot you know as long as you insulate it enough before you go to sleep

and all in all a really good pad this is prick the clock outdoors take it easy
