hey wassup turtles creek here with blackout outdoors in today's video I'm doing a review on this knife from Tyndall knives so this is the summit knife in design from Tyndall knives like I previously mentioned and the difference will be in that series this is a three and a half inch blade there will be a four and a half and a five a half inch blade I believe as are his plans for this knife but some of the specs it's a saber grind and he will be changing the primary bevel if he hasn't already which I believe he has this is five degrees and it'll be changed out the three and a half which should make it a little bit even nicer of a slicer it's made out of oh one tool steel and it has a sharp in 90 degrees spine here pretty so much stock we expect to see anymore so the tool steel is manufactured in the US the stainless steel pins and this would handle scales their manufacturing the u.s. the epoxy he's using is again manufactured in the u.s. to really appreciate that you can see the scales on here there are some liners or maybe it's not large might just be the epoxy not looks like liners in there might be hard to pick up on camera you can see there's definitely a different color between I want to say I forget this wood tight right now he's using all different types of wood types it's changing with every knife he's making some of it he's even harvesting himself I see the TK on there for 10 dolla knives I believe he has actually a stamp now for his actual logo to go on his new knives which have been really really impressive looking overall length to sure I'll throw that in that's right about 9 inches right around nine inches and like a broomstick style handle let's get a profile very comfortable I really am a big fan of sort of this ambiguous style of have a handle on a knife not too much else I can really say about this oh there is one feature i do want to point out this little all right where my fingers underneath or the semicircle that's been browned in I really appreciate this on knives and you don't see it too often depending on blade tech our blade type or grind excuse me but what this has allows is you to get from basically right here to sharpen this the edge is sort of unrestricted and you can really you know get in there to sharpen if that makes sense I hope it does but I do appreciate that in a blade design let's take a look at this beautiful leather sheath a really really am in love with this color I think it might be maybe one of his own coastal maybe mixed this don't hold me to that but this color of the sheath is just beautiful eight to nine ounce veg tan leather synthetic wax thread stitching hand-stitched skin side up on this belt loop second piece of leather definitely makes it nicer nicer looking when you do it like that nice thick welton their show you this well just a really great looking sheath you know enforce was kind enough to oblige me and all my leather inquiries when I was first starting to leather work about six months ago definitely definitely a nice beautiful beautiful sheath you know he's making the knives and the cheese on himself mad respect for that but now let's get get some wood do some work with this and see how she handles going to start by baton in some wood because one of the things he asked me to test out is the heat treat and edge retention on this knife because it's over one tool steel and he's a messing around with it and wanted to know how it's holding up because when he was first making knives you know he said the edges were being held really well great edge retention but they were pretty difficult to to sharpen so he asked me to try that out I'll see if this baton might not work but he asked me to test test that out which I have have been and I think you got the heat treat really really spot-on with this knife three and a half inch blade definitely pushing its capabilities up of time but he I said you know beat the tar out of this knife test it out for me and I have been doing that and we're going to continue to do it on this video I'm only doing this to test this knife I don't use my knife like this at all there we go but internal not or something in there we were supposed to get a knife from him geez on I was the beginning of this year i believe and i saw it went off the radar with knives because he got in an accident or got hit while he was on his motorcycle so he wasn't able to do too much and just recently I guys stay with any in the past month or two he started making knives again so I was kinda excited to get a knife from him because you know he's a really small operation in Idaho him doing itself I maybe I forgot to mention during the specs of this but it's 5 30 seconds 5 30 seconds thickness of the blade just going to keep it on in now once we get this done I'm going to do some feather sticks and he sent us this knife to try out and I'm sending it back this is just sort of us trying to help him out get his name out there you've heard me say it before in other videos that I really am thankful that I had the opportunity and my brother we have the opportunity to help out these smaller companies get them exposure through blackout and this is again what we're doing and this isn't just you know anyone who wants their stuff on our videos send it to us we're still looking for very quality high quality gear and items for sure but it's nice to sort of some self gratification to help out these smaller smaller businesses are just getting started it's really gratifying on our end I noticed for me I believe my brother feels the same way watch all those are going to fall at one point nice small little pieces of wood I'm just going to keep going baton this down I got some other pieces of dry wood I'm going to attempt the feather stick like I said the purpose of me baton is so much is to just the try and experiment and show the edge retention one this and I did take this knife completely dull I doubt it on purpose my diamond sharpening stones is d mts I have and brought it back with the I think I told him maybe 30 passes per side and then with the shop and got this very very sharp very sharp do one more with this and then I'm going to get some other wood and feather stick alright call that good guess what i was using this paper for okay so nice and sharp way to the tip always get this way get that other wood back in frame this is 5 30 seconds and i'm not a really big fan of thicker blades it's because if i'm going to be working with wood i like thinner blades because they're just usually better cutters slicers with would just make a decent spot for myself there we go but this knife you know doesn't feel too clunky or bulky at all you can see I'm getting really nice curls like thin curls I try to work up towards towards towards here and see how I get in control I can't that it's a nice slices in there I got tight that Karl boys I don't know I've been tested in this so this isn't my first impressions with this so I just want to say good job forest it's a really nice really nice pretty pretty blade and comfortable and then you know he's actively making improvements on this blade it's encouraged you to go check out everything he's doing right now I'd say that's doing pretty damn well wouldn't you it's a soft void this tool popular it's doing really well carving and slicing the end of this wood and something I'm doing like this I'm really just testing out one how it slices how it cuts and to comfort of the handle doing a lot of you know strong cuts and I can tell you right now this handle is super super comfortable I just really like that broomstick style of handle and as I mentioned before there's a 90 degree spine on that puppy just pulling out with our steel come up here and just throw some and personally I really don't use my knives to do tasks with my fire steel just because I haven't found a sharp spine that does as well as a small comfortable striker to using the hand but just showing that this is sharpened spine okay you get the idea so that's all really I plan that I want to do for this video showing this knife and he has new designs coming out so I guess I again encourage you to go check out his stuff all those links will be in the description below a few things about the knife because he's a new knife maker and there are a few you know discrepancies get that in frame I've just small small small finest finest details on making things even things perfect and you know and this is a lot of stuff like this is freehand and to get those things perfect is one very very difficult and two might not ever be achieved because you're doing a free hand and then if you do achieve that it's probably going to come very very you know later in your career when you've done hundreds and hundreds of knives so definitely not turned off by anything maybe I forgot to mention beginning but I believe with the sheath and this this this knife will be all right around two hundred dollars I believe he's selling the package for that's pretty good price in my opinion for you know the quality sheath he's making the thick leather all of the details taken into account of sheath and the knife I'm very impressed with what he's been doing and really happy and you know that he's making knives again and I'm really sort of slow down for a second I'm excited as I'm excited for him for him being a knife maker and doing this to really see what he's going to come up with in the future so I'm just really excited to see what he's going to be coming up with as his skills progressing his creativity and all that in the knives he's producing in the leather goods as well the only questions for me about his company ways to contact him thoughts on this knife and Jenna leave a comment below let me know we think about this knife how it performed you know I'm always looking to hear what you believe and what you think about our knives and Kip mentality and all that so don't hesitate to a comment and actually if you're watching this before Christmas of 2014 I want to throw that in there he didn't ask me to say anything but he's doing a giveaway a knife giveaway right now I believe it's this summit knife different handle scales different wood scales he's doing a giveaway up until Christmas so if you're watching this before Christmas of 2014 go to his website all his social media and check out and enter that giveaway this is Creek signing out with black outdoors later turtles you
