hey what's up Turtles it's creek here with black owl outdoors and today's video is going to be in the comfort in the cold series on a wool blanket as a ground tarp what I have on the ground beneath me right now is a cheap tarp these cheap tarped you can get for literally three dollars and also a wool blanket on top on top of that and as I use this wool blanket as a ground tarp if you will or an insulated barrier for conduction from the cold ground I use it with a ground tarp and that's important one because it protects the wool blanket and two because it will stop moisture potentially that's on the ground from coming and saturating the wool blanket now wool blankets and wool garments are nice because as they get wet they still insulate but they take a long time to dry out and just carrying a lightweight cheap tarp will stop any moisture and we'll just make the care easier for me in the long run so as I would do this depending if it's just me wanting to sit on the ground or stoney is going to be joining me going to open up the tarp to the size I i want for my space to be on the ground and usually this is about the folded sighs I would use pretty frequent I'm going to take my wool blanket this is a wool blend there will be a lot more videos on the uses of a wool blanket basically I'll just open this up again try to maximize the fold to increase the layers for the size I want it to be and this is pretty close to where it needs to be and this is just a double fold and then from this point I would just get on the target on this I can I can sit and do work I'll be okay with having this next to a fire because it is wool it's not going to burn this is the designated ground tarp so it has holes in it because I'll use it next to a fire this I can use this potentially for a rain tarp but I've designates as a ground tarp to get to get beat up as I'm ok with having holes in it so I don't have to be gentle with it as I'm using it as opposed to a tarp I want to retain waterproof capabilities and this is basically how you can use a wool blanket you can sleep on this as a ground-type you can sleep on it kick it for the day put it on a log you're sitting on as though as the winter months progress I'll actually just keep the blanket in the tarp and roll it up so it as a bedroll and just keep it as a piece of my winter kit I can strapped to the outside of my bag put it in the bag depending on how big the bag is and all of that so this is basically just a simple use for a wool blanket in colder months there's going to be a lot more videos on the uses of wool blanket hope this video is helpful any suggestions any comments want to leave please do remember to check out black outdoors calm help share help spread blackout so we can continue making these videos and continue to grow this is Creek signing out with black outdoors later turtles
