hello people and welcome to another video in this video I want to be covering and the food I'm going to be carrying on my six day backpacking expedition of Hadrian's Wall last year Aveda Norway a hiking trip for about seven days and although I thought I had my food right I didn't I was actively quite hungry throughout the trip and I wasn't starving and I got through it it wasn't uncomfortable it was just like that was constantly that little hole that could be done with being filled so I've assessed what I cared last time and I've addressed it for this time and I think I've got a little bit LTTE or mom carrying this time but at the same time I think it's gonna be worth it I'm definitely gonna eat all the food and curry so I'm going to take you through what I'm gonna be carrying hopefully you guys can maybe learn a thing or upgrade what you're going to be carrying in the future and because I've been quiet I'll research this time into what would the people carry and I've really kind of drill down on what I think is gonna be good and tastes a very important I've learned on the trail and it's all good saying oats are really good and listen that a good book oats and things like that that pretty bland Tyson see if you're gonna carry them here to find out ways of making them taste nicer and that's definitely what I think I've done and I'm really looking forward to eating a lot of the foods that are prepared so without further ado let's get down at the table or the bed and we'll then I'll show you what I've got okay so I've put my food in two bags this is the big bag here common memory leak as it is but it's four kilograms with the food and in here I've got all my meals yeah sorry evening meals and breakfast maybe you main kind of meals in here is all my lunches I've packed it in a separate bag so every time we stop off for a lunch break I haven't got to open this big pack and stop rummaging around all my lunches are in one place along with the ruffs wrap so also for dinner so I open this little first and I'll show you what's in here so for munchies I mean primarily wraps with a variety of different things going in there I've got ten wraps two wraps per day and I should also add that wraps on them the only thing I'm eat for lunch this is just something I can just sit down and eat properly and there's several the snacks I'm going to supplement with that let's just get this show you so you just write this as the sloppiest thing I've also got some fondant so we'll ignore those that's an extra package a packet of porridge just in case whatever continues the oven I've got apricots there just to help em go into the toilet because they've through system quite well so it's it's quite common to get constipated and when you're at hiking so carrying apricots is a good thing and myself and several other guys I now have this issue so carrying apricots to help yourself and go more regularly good tip there so that's then never munchies we're going to be having Rupp's and unlike to do cheese strings with pepperoni sticks on your apps and they also carry such as a sauce I've got brown sauce and red sauce there I've had those or wrap them or for that either way that's a nice sit day on food and if I don't want it if I get a bit tired of doing the whole on a savory item I've also got him peanut butter sachets in here and jam sachet so I could do peanut butter jelly wraps which would be quite nice and sweet and for a bit of an alternative so I'm going to do peanut butter and jelly for two days and pepperoni and cheese for the other four I've also got some beef biltong beef jerky that's just something just to chew on if I fancy it okay until the meals it's just there in case of wanting nothing specifically being eaten and then I've also got wanted to find water here
these are bolero powder drinks very similar to the Robinson squeeze drink seeking out the water but these are more lightweight these of powder rocket have said small sachet this treats up to 1.5 liters so you can get a lot of juice very strong tasty juice as well and this is beautifully getting your vitamins and your sugar intake as well yeah could you when you drinking all about water you lose electrolytes so these are going to add those electrolytes patented system and that's it for those quick lunches like I said there's a variety of other things I'm gonna be eating to it to add to this I'm not gonna be eating just this solely let me just throw this away I should also add this is my coffee pouch or warm drinks pouch and in here I've got one coffee and one hot chocolate per day coffee in the morning hot chocolate at night nothing in between no extras no less just that in this big pouch I've got about three pages of this cell use of trail mix got two here and one in my rucksack currently my trail mix of choice is yogurt coated raisins chocolate coated raisins and honey roasted peanuts
failing that to be my favorite selection I've tried adding sweets and stuff before but I'm quite a draw savory kind of guy and I'm not a massive fan of sugar and sort of sugary sweets so this is my chosen M choice and one of these bags is designed to last me for two days just to nibble on as you go through the trail I've got a lot of other food so I'm not concerned about having to need loads of trail mix and so right let me break this down for you in this bag in here I have used large lunch bags and a the way I've done it for this trip and how I've found on past trips I'd prefer to do it is to to actually bag each day off
I like the organization that gives me so this here is one day's worth of food and I've got the six of these some people like to have all the main meals together all the breakfasts together all the snacks together so they can choose what they want in that day I could do that but I prefer the organization of just knowing that all this is or food for that day and I can look and see what I've got left and see what I want to eat I just like the organization so I'm not too worried about it so I'm not going to go into the rest of this pack purely because it's the same all the way through the evening meals are different and which I'll go over what's in there but I'm not going to show you so in this bag this is Dave this is day one school
get it all out so for breakfast I have an apple and cinnamon porridge throughout the day they have different flavored porridges I have a video of how I made these porridges myself and I've added my own dehydrated berries and things in there so that's one that have a breakfast a few hours down the line I then plan to have more flapjacks now I said earlier flapjacks and ot type of food or difficult well for iPhone difficult to make is a very dry quite bland they get boring and you don't really look forward to eating them however these are called if it will focus black friars flapjacks and as you can see that's a cappuccino flavor flapjack they come in I think they have over 10 different flavors they have ginger choc chip double chocolate chip cappuccino Bakewell tart and literally so many I can't even remember all of them so I have one of these per day 500 calories in a flapjack so once I think my breakfast a few hours on the trail I'll then hook into my flapjack and that's going to pair me through to lunch easily I'll sit down for lunch then have my rapid glad you valuable app when I've had my wrap or will then site in the decision between one of these two I have a peanut butter KitKat crunchy chunk either and peanut butter M&Ms I'll choose between those which one I want to eat then later on in the evening I'll have the other ones which at whichever I haven't eaten all then have my my dear this one is a tomato and chicken pasta dish I'll eat that that's roughly about 600 to 700 calories and then after that I'll eat in my pot off I've actually got kicked out in here in a minute but this should be a pop tart of all those pop-tarts but I ran out of pop-tarts and then I'll eat my dessert which will be a pop star
okay this is another bike I've just pulled it out just to give you a better visual representation here's my pop top there are two pop-tarts in each packet I will eat one with my main meal as a dessert then I will leave one for slightly later because I find I always tend to get a little bit peckish made one of me even forgot to bed it's only another one of those not quite of keep the fire burning throughout the night keeping me warm and I also have a fruit jelly bar
I really do like fruit and I find or found over the years that fruit is one of the things I always crave when I'm out I always just want to look into a nice juicy apple or something and you can't carry fresh fruit with you too heavy and it's just impractical so I'm gonna try this one and I'm just carrying it a bar of drawing fruit leather see how that works and I've also made my own fruit leathers as well that's a strawberry and raspberry leather that I've be hydrated so we'll see how that goes down this meal is a cheese and pasta bake with chicken I believe it's got in there what else have we got these are all dehydrated meals I've made myself one of my favorites here is a smashed potato and beef I love that one it's really filling oh look another smashed potato ambience like I said it's really filling is just great this is a that's a pork and pasta I believe like I said although the snacks are the same but that one there that's a ginger chopped chip flapjack there is food for days oh woman raising coconuts cream my flavor favorite flapjack so yeah there you have it I think I have nailed the food situation for this trip I'm gonna have plenty of food plenty of chocolate and I'm looking forward to the fruit because I've never cared for it before I think I was really gonna pick me up because like I said fruits something I've always lacked and then I've never really thought about trying to supplement it so is it gonna be a good trip I think I'm gonna be lots of food lots of fuel and that's gonna really help me to hit the mall scuzz will plan it up plan a lot of miles for this trip we're trying to do a 180 miles in for a day so it's gonna be a tough one so yeah that's my food any recommendations please let me know because backpacking food is something that everyone has their own things that they like to do and it's quite difficult to research with five different recipes so if you have any dehydrated recipes or any snacks you think you're good to carry anything on that please let me know
and also please let me know if you think any of the ones over and I'm really good and you're gonna try them out so I'd love to know if you will try those things out if you think that my ideas are good because it took me a while we're in recently for a couple minutes really trying to get into form to find out what people eat see ya they have it I hope you got something for me and just took me awhile and I hope you enjoyed the video so until next time thanks for watching and I'll see you again very very soon
