River Spey Canoe & Bushcraft Trip
Description
Check out how myself, Peter and Charlie got on when we decided to go on a canoe expedition with Paul Kirtley and Ray Goodwin. It was a challenging experience but we learnt so much along with meeting lots of fantastic folks! Check out the course at frontiers website;

hello people and welcome to another video so on this trip we are canoeing down the river spey this is actually a course that we decided to go on her several months ago near with Paul curtly and Ray good work it's something I've been meaning to do for a while so I asked em Peter and Charlie's I wanted to join me basically it sort of get some more whitewater experience so going forward we can go on rivers likely similar to this one on our own and but we had some experience the gain first so here it's the day before the trip starts we're practicing on in the stunning location of Locke inch right is watching the group quite closely and he's helping us with our strokes gained me getting ice drugs a little more efficient just so we're ready for the trip ahead seem to be pretty well in sync city as well yeah a little bit [Applause]
hey you out all night for Brian figured out vote so forest a bushcraft talk me through your admin basically got really good system this can blow blackout outdoors right now right it's am basically not a lot people teaching this when you on course and stuff but basically what i've done is i've got all the stuff out of my bag and just thrown it Roy bit so I don't need to know where if it is now because I can just see it everywhere but just all over the place and it is we knew it does we do come yeah it's the best system really just just shut your stuff everywhere it really works Bilbo what you think of for us to push Crofts admin hate it she's everywhere it's everywhere wherever I look there's Peter stop I just wanted to be a walking a monster i bought this bottle can you do a Jay stop no harm in a stroke will have that but in the wake up will you have your amiable in the waking up not gonna laugh whenever look everybody them on life I don't do chatter reviews if you did any children to the reviews some nighttime seven there might be that chad is out now i want to leave a good state totally you know in your video and yeah you need to look at the camera not me here we're eating a really good breakfast from the restaurant at Locke inch the hosting this whole trip is absolutely fantastic you have a few nights of accommodation before you start just to get to know everyone and that kind of thing that was really nice and it was at this point that we made the decision that I was going to attempt to paddle the trips down low while we're Peter and Charlie cuddled in tandem got some food with us here we were taught how to tie a deer into the canoe correctly so there's no chance of falling out on Rapids and also had to distribute the way to the packs in the bottom of the canoe so it's more efficient when you're paddling heading to an island kilometer and a half from boat of garten it's just very real way to think and then ray gave us a rundown on the map of our route for the day where we'll be staying for lunch I'm wearing be before trying to camp organized and then we were off here we all are pummeling across the LoC and starting the reverse buy down to the sea yo why we got helmets on still just leave the natural cruise I've never paddled solo before properly and I did find it a little bit difficult it was mainly trying to keep up with the pace on the flat waters after the rapids and it was it we were struggled to keep up with a more experienced paddlers and obviously there's a few people running tandem and they've got more pair on the flats so there was times when I did find it a little bit difficult however it was incredibly fulfilling to do it solo to carry out the decisions on my own and navigating the rapids with any help and read I think it really gave me a better understanding of the water and I do feel a lot more confident than I probably would have done if I had to attend them so I don't regret it you just there were some times well I'll do a really strong but they've had damage basically with people having fires so they are a bit sense poor cocktails have some awesome meals and morning and evening giving us some really great additions to our cookbook for future trips here is doing us some pancakes and bacon a lot of people make it too thick and I've trouble getting a nice even tank lately yeah Charlie must be a coffee that their coffee mate in it as long as we don't wake me up in the morning it was like matter what the temperature is in that you don't eat two hours police that probably we don't want any physical yeah yeah I just yell fire should be what things are your last acabo video but that was carved quite a few years ago I get this picture of you boss at this point is a good example of me struggling to keep up on the flat water so right shows us a really good way to roughed up two canoes we're going through some better for momentum with the help of pierre pierre and Charlie connected to you yes boss don't watch Charlie anybody cook truck if Charlie's on moni we're all right it's a good day I thought tell your commander me staring am a happy man right now yesterday wanted to murder me could you caused it much charlie didn't get us through the bridge so thinking of using tippy you're on the internet night what Rick you're on the internet right I don't know I never use internet I'm just like sure you're on your own or internet what's that like being tell a bit less the internet look this is a this is quick from Black Isle outdoors through your friend or top Turtles thank you but there were several other individuals on the cause with us I think it was nine of us in total it was great we have to chat with them at night and going down the river as well get to know all the friendly faces in the community and just being able to enjoy the surroundings with other people but you're not used to being with it was very good swimmer how this section shows me going down the famous washing machine section of the river spey is pretty chaotic and I do quote right just before i go down which is pretty funny by then yeah it's quite an easy section actually but there's just a lot of water and it's quite a funny little bit to go down all down these rapid sections it's fantastic because reggae gives you clear instruction on how you are you going to go through the rapid and but he also gives you a little bit of leeway to make some decisions for yourself to get you thinking about things and then it Paul is generally behind or in front just keeping an eye in case anything does happen so you're always under the watchful eye of someone and you still be able to make some key decision for yourself which is always great and just here you'll see the closest I actually came to falling into the canoe I've totally didn't see the rock at the end of the rapid and I completely went over it and nearly came over onto the right hand side so it yeah there you go and that's it for this small video I hope you enjoyed it and obviously I didn't manage to record a lot because there's a lot going on there's a lot to learn I wanted to focus on getting the most i pulled out of the course so I didn't want to be running around with a camera too much but there's a snippet of our little adventure absolutely fantastic course to go on if you are thinking ability I absolutely include you to do it Paul and right or fantastic instructors so much so that i'm going to go on several courses with both of them individually to to improve specific skills I have in mind and put they're both they're both absolutely excel in a given field and what they go to if you're looking to learn something specific that they teach I would encourage you to go with them and no one else because I was very very impressed but that is it I hope you enjoyed the video thanks for watching and until next time I'll see you again very very soon how do you feel survived the trip ed how do you feel like Charlie does on most trips nothing really nicely better you officially dead it's time to go home it's not though we're going on tomorrow [Music]
