hello hello and welcome to another video as you can see I'm back in the woods again it's been a while since I've actually done a video on the woods so it's really nice to be back out here familiar familiar a bit of woodland which you will have seen in the past in some of my other videos this time I am NOT on my own I am joined today by mr. expedition Jack
so his channel should have just popped up somewhere on the screen and go and check it out and we're just out for one night bit of a bit of a cheeky overnighter camp but we have the purpose which is gonna be very interesting so Jackie you're quite you've sort of fairly new to outdoor stuff aren't you commented in bits and bobs on off of YouTube and off of some of your videos and off of many other people's videos but I really need to get a formula in place to really fill in the gaps you know I mean cool so jack is out to learn some set of bushcraft and outdoors like wood crystals for me but as you all know by watching this I am a youtuber and I am really bad at camera work Jack is a professional camera man or something what is it you do what why both my day job so yeah I'm going to hopefully be learning some some nice camera tips and techniques so that I can improve the qualities videos for you guys first job though is to get set up we are losing the light a little bit and we do have to go and get the food we have brought a ludicrous amount of equipment for this camp so it's taken like three trip or two trips so far and one more trip back to the car to go and get the rest of it so we're going to get our tarp things set up and I'm not letting Jack sleep in the tent tonight I banned him from his tent no Tony's gotta sleep under a tarp as you've only done that once before did you say oh geez really that is madness I have never heard anything like that before
found it in the woods though he chewed so this is gonna be interesting Fox is raiding the camper night and right I'm gonna go ahead and get the tarp setup so I'm going to be showing Jack there and some tips and techniques for doing that as well I'm gonna go for just a basic Ridgeline time tonight the weather looks pretty decent so that's why want to go for [Music]

you
okay so that is my sleeper agent or sorted standard sort of ridgeline a-frame style type setup and tonight I'm just straight on the ground and therm-a-rest inside of Bibby with my Everest down bag Jack's doing it very much the same thing quick little tutorial on how to set your tarp up he's using the old army British Army basher yes just certainly sleeping bagging stuff up now we are losing the light a little bit it's still quite bright outside but it's it's pretty pretty heavy canopy cover here so we're gonna start thinking about getting a fire and food on soon temperature is dropping pretty rapidly as well so I'm gonna need to took a fleece on a stuff and I got my my big Swan dry ranger jacket for my Bush jacket sorry Bush smoke whatever it's called for an extra layer of warmth or later on so I'm wanting to start the fire using feather sticks cuz that's what I've been practicing lately however problem here is it's all beach and I haven't used beach ballistics before it's not ideal it's very very hard there's it's not very straight either it's very difficult to find a straight bit I've got a couple of little ones made up which I'm hoping they're gonna work because I've deliberately not brought a backup plan for the fire so you means I have to use this skill to get it going which could be interesting what's your backup toilet paper worked quite well
I don't think I've ever used toilet paper start fire no don't they ever have never never done that weirdly plus it's quite a common thing to use isn't it alright then they do some more post-its okay so camps all set up and we haven't we've been sort of chatting a lot a sort of religious really getting to know each other I think a bit more anything so obviously it's got dark now it's still it's still early it's the only 1/2 7 but it is we you know it's late in the year so when I getting the fire going ready to get to get food on fly light in the dark is not something that I recommend doing but well you know what you're doing it's good I've also forgotten my big knife today which is gonna which means that I'm doing this slightly differently so it's a bit of a challenge but hopefulness birch bark sort of go so you just keep going until it goes I can use it with my knife I can do it first time I really need to practice more with the little tab thing then I got a really poor feather stick here but hopefully I'll get there's a bit of something so yeah it's a bit of a challenge this wood because it's very different to what I'm used to but we've got a fire easily I was hoping to do it purely with the feather sticks what turns out the beaches we're difficult to feather so I'm going to collect a lot of it to take home and practice with so you just leave it don't rush it let it take its time always fire in there it's what I'm watching for is the flames to come through the top and I've left this nice big chunky bit in so I can get underneath it so flames through the top now some 1x a lot can go on everything's fairly dry there's no hissing or anything
[Music]
so I usually do this in like strips but I think chunks it'll be up just a bit a bit more efficient today while we haven't got much time [Music]

this coconut oil is a little thinner than why use last time so I'm gonna leave the lid off and try and get that to reduce down and thicken up a little bit sort of it's a wooden plastic bowl so it's a recycled water it's compressed into a kind of plastic it's cool a little bit unfortunately my bucks was going get off laughs you yeah wonderful well that is actually really good it's really good is really got my still very well a practice this recipe I'm not doing it so simple as well yeah yeah my only worry with this is I'm pretty sure I did everything right was the chicken and keeping things clean but I did buy it today so it should be okay oh yeah good morning folks so it is the morning of our operator our first and only more than here and Jax woke up before me he's over there getting some tea on weibo fire a bit of a rough night's sleep last night it was it got really really windy really windy itself about three o'clock in the morning it was really really super loud like really loud so I said that kind of waking his octothorpe intermittently it was a noisy old night last night the sleep that I did get was pretty decent quality sleep I think but then I didn't get woken up quite a lot as well so yeah I think Jack's getting some tea on just at the moment so right you get some tea on tea and then today the plan is to play around with cameras and bushcraft skills so what's going on lots of that's point one also I'm really getting into sleep on the ground when a hammock man for such a long time but now I'm really getting into being on the put on the floor probably not in summer yeah good stuff it's so comfy Oh
well as usual and look one a bit of a goal slow today we've had some breakfast Jack's cooked his up some some noodles they were really nice and we've been started talking about filmmaking and bushcraft techniques and stuff not really doing much filming like with intensity however a bit that I'm really excited for mm-hmm is Jack's brought his Joel drone with him and I've been looking at getting a drone to make nice-nice droney footage for you guys and but he's gonna give me a quick demonstration of that now I'm quite excited by so I'm gonna I'm gonna film some of the drone taking off and and stuff that's what's gonna happen next standby

one thing you can do to make sure you get in that angle right is correct in with a sharpie yeah and they've all a sharp he comes off you know you're doing it carafe so when I'm bringing it across like a slicing motion to it's done some people like really count the passes on it I don't do that and then I do the tip separately really difficult on this so the tips like the hardest part to do because you've got to like roll it round so I'm having to like raise my arm slightly to get the end of it and a lot of it's in the sound that the nice making she's quite hard to judge because it's on this pot that's it yeah if I chop bit my thumb off always beetles here that is always cool so George :
get in so you can actually see what I'm doing yeah it's a mid shot so you want quite a low angle on it so really thin thin cuts but each time I make a court I'm adjusting where I'm coming to it's not sharp enough for this and want to start kicking them out I can angle this okay I want them to go the other way which is quite tricky you trying to get those curls as thin as possible
that's just to push the nail away and if you lose some curls don't worry about it quite a bit they're not there which is what keeps ticking on you see I'm aiming for those little ridges that I'm creating them yeah so I'm aiming I'm moving more of this side now because that's in the way you have to do the whole sticker is it just yet because you want the stick part to be as thin as possible because you want that to actually take and it's still thick ah yes so that's that literally taken and catch the stick and then it'll catch the bigger pot I'll set fire to this one yep cause you're not using this to light your fire and you'll want to make a couple of them okay maybe three so once I get to this point what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna start using my thumb to really control it and I'm after these really thin usually fine put this because that's what all catch this bar but they're not willing to stick one nice flat surface to work on there some Rafael sparks in danger so you get a lot of flame edge off that thank you so you can see it's not burning out like straight away yeah largest goes long enough to catch the rest I mean that's working out quite a lot heat as well stick will be a bit thinner on this one in the middle I think we've got a few of these that's too could take no no trouble the fact that central stick has now taken yeah see people would be excited to live on the edge yeah we'd see them the central stick has now taken yeah yeah yeah
so the thicker end in a smaller end it doesn't matter which end use the blade handle and get tight hold of that handle further back because if you hit your hands will know about it it hurts a lot right and I want you to give that and using that button use the way to the baton and good solid hit make sure that that's straight a solid hit right on the top there so you don't do it at the end then
you look a lot like this it's like anything it is really easy to do if you know how to do it yeah but just where you pulling the piece of wood to a little bit that's it that something so I'm angling the piece of board up like this you're kind of pulling it in the belly
yeah just pull it right out past myself and then I'm moving on to those corners and rotating the piece of wood each time I make a cut that's far enough so I start to rotate it back now need to push them back as well don't worry about the cause you've lost because you still got them you can still use them right that grounds dry they're not they'll be picking up a bit of moisture but nothing to worry about the first one sort of hanging on by her [Music]
I got to I'm going in on myself okay try a different technique there is another way of doing it mm-hmm I don't like this way we works for a lot of people stick stays in place yeah mm-hmm I'm not gonna - this way I don't I don't like this way me personally so this time you're moving in life they're not the stick see I'm nowhere near as good at it that way bison it embrace it against maybe the edge of that find out a bit easier it's when a light gets to a it goes quick specimen this is the whole stick a second yeah a bit deeper with that closer to do you thing and give it a nice box haha
it's only because it's pine because that was nice
see now I will just check it on then that's the point that an obvious mother it and nobody just rock it on the idea here you won't need to do it you still got if you smother it with oxygen you can grab all of that and pick it back up again and it all yeah congratulations you just started fire wait any modern or a fantastic spark I'm amazed that this part and you've got a fire yeah yeah I'm gonna try and learn of a statement I was keeping this for a while I have free price I had a process that entire branch down to stick to this thickness and then increase the thickness of them to the point where we thank you yep little bit free ID out sharpen your knife yep same principle that you just lit with the feather stick with applies to birch bark when you get birch bark ain't the Reed downy store service in store and we rub it in your hands really hard so when you break it down it's like it goes like cottony right same thing you'll get
okay so the practices from skills actually haven't done much in terms of learning filming because we've just not had time have we it's been a bit a day isn't really long enough but Jax - to light a fire using photo sticks yep what else did we do you learn to put your tarp up a bit sharp knife sharp in a little bit a tree ID stuff yes there's some cooking so we've got lots of ideas for further things to do unfortunately time just hasn't been on our side because we've been sort of discussing lots of stuff which we probably should have done before we come out but we're both very busy so yeah a lot of the footage you'll have seen before this was filmed by mr. professional cameraman however where are you I can't they're very is so yeah no credit to me for that so that's it - is that we figure out a way to actually send it over because we can't do that now yes and now it is almost time for us to pack up because I don't want to get stuck in loads of traffic on my way home so just packing up time now so I can check it so it's nice and cold what any hot bits that like that I just touched will tell me if it's just a hot bit down here it's nice and wet through but I'm using the heat to tell me if it's still on fire yeah so that's it that's the end of our camp we've left the place as we found it played everything away all our sleeping areas they're all gone remove the fireplace fire pit scatter the ashes into the forest cover it back over make sure it's completely out and now it's time to head home unfortunately so thank you to Jack for comment no thank you
teaching me some stuff about cameras yeah teaching me some stuff about bushcraft a lot more to learn yeah I think no loads more I've got a lot to learn still yeah we definitely do this again yeah and thank you to all of you guys for watching and sticking with us to the end so yeah as always thank you all for watching please like share subscribe do all that kind of stuff take care and I will see you in the next video bye for now you
