hi guys want to show you today is how to hang a Ridgeline now I'm not just to show you how to hang the ridgeline I'm also going to do a little bit on how to choose an appropriate place to hang your hammock and or tab so I'm going to be hanging this resign as or sleeping my hammock as well but you could just adjust this about making it lower if you wanted to sleep on the ground doesn't really matter so first of all let's have a look at the ground roundels it's nice and flat there's no there's no kind of undergrowth underneath it I'm just cleared out making sure if he's like soft that's just a little solid grass it's not going to hurt if I trip over just try and squash it down a little bit so you don't trip over it the night or whatever and then I'm going to have a look at the distance between my two trees now this woods I not be using my three by three DD hammock so what I'm going to do is just measure the distance by taking strides and all my strides are roughly 1 meter so it should be between three and four meters either side door a little bit further if you need to put ensure that your hammock annual tarball and your college actually fit between the two so this looks about right so one two three and a bit that's that's a really good length okay the trees armpit I picked aren't dead the nice strong standing trees on the grantees and shoots them still green and the not too thick you're not avoid using really thick trees because I can limit to the amount of cordage but you're going to have particularly if your hammock camping there's nothing worse and picking a perfect so clearly a while and then finding that your hammock or your top all and doesn't actually fit between them too so now we're going to hang the rich life has no that's right exactly so I've got my cordage which has been hanged like this if you don't know how to do that I'll fill the link up to the video showing you how and I'm going to be working at roughly head height or I would be if I was actually camping here tonight I'm actually gonna drop it down a little bit for the purpose of the video to make it a little bit easier for me to show what it is that I'm doing so be myself a little bit Cordle and what I'm going to do here is I'm just going to put in a taut line hitch so you don't have to tie it all and hitch again I'll throw the link to the video up on how to do that make sure that's all nice and neat so it's going to work properly three one more time I'll make sure that not is nice and tight before I turn it up then bring that in now what I want to do is to stand beneath my not just have a little bit of a look and make sure that's going directly to that other tree to make sure it's not wonky so that's nice and secure that's not going anywhere so we take my cord or my other three gets tangled up sometimes

using 550 paracord to this as well 550 power cords brilliant purse there we go it's not lit stuff up inside just won't do that yeah 550 paracord is brilliant it's nice and grippy you can get nice tension on it you think gotta watch for don't whether you can tell but if I pull on this now if you watch my hand that's nice and tight wit actually stretches a little bit so be careful that when you put in your tarp or not because it can cause your tarp to dip slightly min particularly in wet weather so I'm not going to do let's bring this along check that's nice and level by getting it too I'll I level bring my cord around now at this end I'm not going to take it around just the once I'll take it around a couple of times see why in a second so at this point what I'm going to do is I'm gonna bring my cord over itself and then back around the tree like so then I'm going to do the same thing again let's just get all this time these are things you don't see the video so I wanted to leave this in sometimes your cord misbehaves

sorry about that so I've now brought that cord around on itself and what this will do is you can see it pulls the rest of it nice and tight it's going to pull that too but what you can see happening is it's pulling it off to one side so I'll bring that call around again and then just do the same thing going the other way which will bring it back to the center at this point is really important you keep a tight hold on it you'll get a nice tight taut ridge line then that's directly between the two trees and this method that i'm using here just helps to keep it all in place so that's not going anywhere stop going to slide there's plenty tension around the tree and now i'm just going to finish this off with a little siberian hitch and again if you don't know how to tie the siberian hitch i'll do a little link for you so you can learn how to do that hopefully about the mix of it wrong pull that tight pull up tight in then we've got a nice tight taut Ridgeline there as I say this will be absolutely perfect I'll sleep on the ground but for hammock camping this is actually a little bit low but I did it low just to demonstrate the purchase of the video how to do this and there you go it's as simple as that just tiny ridge line of course if you did have your tarpaulin on this especially if you used like me the DD tarpaulins you actually have your tarp at one end of this cord while you're working because it then hangs down but as you can see just with the 550 paracord just watch out for this happening when the top goes on it does have plenty of stretching its supposed to do that it is meant to stretch we'll just be aware of it the paracord is probably your best bet thank you for watching guys and stick around and we'll get some new videos up here as soon as possible
