alright guys what I've got for you today is a very very quick recommended gear video and what I'm going to be showing you today is this which is a clean canteen reflect now reasons I'm doing a recommended kit review on this is because I have been after a good canteen for quite a long time and a lot the ones I've seen previously they're very gimmicky they've got a couple of downfalls with them those couple of issues and problems with them so I've looked around I've reviewed things you know on the online I've looked at different stuff and I've actually came across this in a forestry commission shop
oddly enough and I had a quick look at it and decided that this was the canteen for me and I'm going to take you through why I really like this particular product just now so first off the specifications for this are that it's made from stainless steel and it is this is the 200 sorry the 800 mil version or 27 ounce version it's the reflect model Klean Kanteen do a range of models but this is the one that I like the most the lid is made from a single piece of safe stainless steel apart from this bit here what that is really sturdy it's not going to come off and it's capped with this really nice-looking bamboo thing here which really is just aesthetic I can't see any practical use black but it does look nice the bottle itself is made from a single piece of stainless steel and there is no paint on this which is one of the reasons I've kind of chosen this for bushcraft a lot of the metal containers have a painted bits on them that paint tends to burn off a little bit doesn't really affect the product too much doesn't affect the bottle too much please looking a bit nasty horrible but this is laser etched in we'll have a closer look at that in a moment but the logo is laser etched in which means it's not going to be scrubbed off it's not going to be burnt off and there's no harmful chemicals being used in the process of making this so let's have a closer look at the actual bottle itself so one of the things that we initially really dream it to this bottle is the lid and it looks a little bit unusual but it's quite wide and that's what originally drew my attention but once I actually got it in the shop and had a look at it what I really liked about this is the way that the lid works so it's a single piece of steel for the actual lid unit not including the handle it's got some pigment information at the lock so what that's all about but what I really like about this is when I came to screw the lid back on it goes back on so so easily now a lot of bottles which is similar to this which has a lid that sits inside the neck I find they get quite cross threaded and it can be quite difficult to actually get that lid on without damaging it and you know it goes on really easily sits nice and tight and there's absolutely nothing coming out of that at all and it looks pretty nice as well so the lid has this sturdy loop on it and you can really feel the craftsmanship that's gone into this it's very very well-put-together piece of equipment that is so smooth to move around I've got I'm in no worry about actually coming out and it can also help so on tie the lid as well as hanging it up as well which is which is useful so yeah the logo is etched on there's a page with information next on the top of it's got this sustain a bit sustainably grown bamboo but we'll come to that later on also the neck of the bottle has this really useful roll top on it a lot of the bottles I've seen literally it's just a piece of metal smooth off the top of that roll top is really really useful it kind of opens itself up to modifications so what I intend to do I wanted to do just a standard review of this as it comes but in the future what I'll be doing is putting a piece of wire around this so that I can suspend the bottle without the lid on it obviously I can suspend it with the lid on because it's got the handle on the top but the minute I can but that is quite a thick rim around the top so I could use a piece of paracord or whatever but I'm going to be using just a piece of steel wire
the opening of the bottle is also an excellent because it's nice and wide and this wide opening is actually very very useful and again another problem I found with a lot of the bottles and things stuff that I bought in the past is this opening is quite it's really quite narrow and you can't see inside it but what this does is it allows light to enter the bottle so that I can see clearly in there whether my water is clean whether there's any inclusions in there and you know whether it's clear so I and know what to expect a lot the other bottles particular plastic ones tend to be a black black material or very very dark and you can't see inside I find that kind of frustrating but the other thing that this wide opening allows you to do is if you're using something like a mil bank bag it gives you a nice wide opening for your water to drip and filter into and that is very very useful so we can see in there that I've got really nice clear water in there and the metal also helps to keep the the water cool inside the lid just goes on real nice and easy I'm not even secured in the bottom of that bottle and on it goes so that's the neck of the bottle and the lid and looked at in some detail what the body of the bottle not much to say about it really but one thing that I really like about this is it's a single piece of stainless steel which means that I can boil water in this provided there take the lid off of course because obviously pressure will build up in there and it's got a wooden top so you can see clearly the x2 the laser X logo there and and it's it's a nice shape it's not too wide and short but it's not too thin and tall it's a very very well thought-out design you can just feel and just actually touching this this bottle you can you know you can feel that the the the quality of it itself on the bottom of the bottle you can see here there's a little bit of information so at the top we've got it says 14-10 honestly don't know what that means we've got the model of the bottle which is the reflect and the quantity under here it says 27 ounces / 800 mil so lot biggest bottle in the world but it does me for a good half a day usually carry a mil bank bag with me you know if I needed to carry a little bit milk more water I could do very very easily it's stainless steel which it states on the bottom here which means it's not going to corrode or rust easily very very easy maintenance especially if you just put in water in it and again like I said it can go in the fryer and then under here it says 18/8 and I'm assuming that something to do with the metal that's actually used to manufacture this I'm not too well upon my metal so I don't really know but I'll do a bit of digging and I'll put that that information in the description box below so there you go guys that's the Klean Kanteen reflect 800 mil model yeah 800 mil model making sure I remember that correctly then and I know it's probably not been the most interesting video in the world it's only looking at canteen but personally a method of carrying water which is both effective and versatile has been something that I've really struggled with you know there's a lot of very good bottles and canteens and cook kits out there and they pop my problem with them is despite the fact that a lot of them are very very good the price of them has always been far too high and I managed to get this one for about 20 pounds well worth the money for it I highly recommend it there are a variety of sizes available from this is the mid-range size there was a slightly smaller one and I think I think they do a large one but I will double checking if there is I'll put links to that in the bottom this bit the top here is just where the label was attached to it now there's something else I want to say about this bottle now I'm not sure whether it's a kind of gimmick to sell the bottle itself whether that you know the sincere about this but the one of the reasons it's called Klean Kanteen is the fact that it's supposedly sustainably manufactured so the bamboo to craft the nice top on the lid is sustainably farmed bamboo there's no paint to avoid chemical use in the manufacturing process and it's just a single piece of stainless steel I'm not sure exactly how they produce that but it's one of these very very kind of eco-friendly products which is something that I kind of liked about it and it's something we
roll look into and find important in bushcraft I think you know you know environmentally friendly products there's a lot of plastics and things out there and I think we we need to start paying a bit more attention to how our equipment is is manufactured because to me that is important bushcraft obviously we're studying you know nature the wilderness and of course we don't want that or damaging by harmful productions of our own products or going to be using it seems quite counterproductive to me so yeah highly recommend this bit of kit I'll put some links to their website in the bottom if you've got the money go out and get yourself one give it a try I'm really happy with it I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and it's excellent so as always thank you all for watching please keep tuned in to see more videos I don't do too many kit reviews but a Casey something like this comes along and I'll do a video a video on it please like share subscribe all that stuff and keep watching for more bushcraft information cheers guys
