Oh

hi everyone what would I we look at today is how to set up a ground tarp or and sleepy system a reason I wanted to show you this as you probably all know if you watching my channel I'm a really big fan of hammock camping but all quite often that's not a very valuable way of camping so you can have a look around this area the reason we can't be using hammocks in this area is a lot of this is on large trees and large trees tend to have their branches very low down on them you could chop some of them off but a lot of the time it's very nice to kind of just leave the forest as you found it and I don't really want to be chopping branches off trees today and I wanted to give this ground ground tarp sleeping system a bit of a go so what I've done here is I've selected a decent space between two trees and that's what I'm going to hang my ridge line and this ground here is where I'm going to be sleeping now it's not the best ground in the world it's a little bit lumpy and it's very very damp so that's a couple of things you're going to need to take into account when you're picking somewhere like this so i know that i've got the correct gear to sleep on this ground I've got my wall blanket with me and I've got a small attack to go underneath that to keep me dry off put off the ground can be insulated off the ground when I'm doing that and just have to be careful that there's no big root that's actually there's one here so I'll probably sleeping over at this side where it's much more flat on the ground so that's how you put your your camp that's the basic ways of picking the camp offices no there's no set system for picking the correct site for for camping you've just kind of roll gotta roll with what you've got around you so the first thing we need to do is I need to set up a ridge line between these two trees okay so the first thing I need to do I've got what are falling out its preset or files leave it set up and now all I need to do is time I Ridgeline as you can see there's lots of branches sticking out this particular tree here so my tarp is actually going to start about here away from those branches but it doesn't matter because my riddling can still come through there so if you don't know how to hang the ridgeline that what not to use or whatnot so I'm using now and up here i'll stick a link to the video which demonstrates how to tie your ridgeline correctly so this one is just an taut line hitch again I saw the link up for you here itself

so I always taught myself through my knots even though how to do them off the top of my head every time I do than my top myself through dunno why it's just a habit okay so I'm going to take my ridge line along to this side now making sure that I've got enough height my tart to be up off the floor this may actually be braxton low okay so this is what this advantage to doing this kind of thing because I'm not wanted to take any branches off it's actually going to be a little bit fiddly getting around this tree okay so just bear that in mind it's doable main thing to watch out for particularly large cheese because they're really springy and bounce it is watch your eyes be careful not to get any sticks in your eyes it's easy you've got long arms I've got really short

pull that tight there we go so jump back to the send and I'll just tighten this up a little okay so there's my act my ridgeline in i'll set my tarp up just by tightening it see thats hanging quite nicely there so my next job is to get this peg down so i'm going to quickly make some temp folks if you don't have to make your own tent pegs again there'll be a link in the video somewhere for you and i will get this pegged out and then we'll show you what it's like inside okay so I've just got some sticks that I sharpen up in two pegs I've not made the most elaborate pegs in the world but they'll do we soft brown like I said is it a little a little damp so I don't need anything over the top just make sure a long you what I'm going to do this time the top is even though my tarp has a guy lines on it I'm not going to be using them and the reason for that is I don't need them because the tarps coming right down to the ground I can actually use the attachment points on it which is really nice because it means i can just keep my guidelines all tied up that stirred i have just tangled this one mind so i can keep them all then title and keep it nice and neat it means that when it is windy because it's right down at the ground it's actually going to be much more stirred and it will be on the guylines because the guylines because they're a little stretchy give it a little bit of give so you can get really taught shelter this in this way so that's way to do it is just hook it through pull it tight and shove it in always remembering that angle up kind of 45 degree angle that's in there I'll get the ones on the other side now if you want to follow me around just the camera one

with moment as i said i did just tangle up my guyline but I was talking about trying to keep them neat these things happen luckily I've put sensible not seen for once and they're easy to undo down the side pick it out 45 degree angle

is very soft on his side lighting some slacks

that will might come out when I pull this side as I always say don't worry when things go wrong that's how you learn okay thing with you are actually okay so there we go that's the actual tarpaulin setup so if you'd like to follow me inside I'll show you how I'd be sleeping in here okay so we've got quite a lot of space on the inside really cozy and because it's nice and low and close to the ground actually that's going to be much more insulating now the new downside for me for using the stylus setup is a when I'm camping I do like to kind of be able to see out just to see what's going on see what wildlife surround this particular setup and we're still very dry very comfortable very worn there's no wind or draft gonna be getting underneath but I can't see out apart from this way and that way and one thing to be worried of if the wind I've set this up because the wind is coming in this direction so this size really close to the ground keeping me sheltered but if the wind changed direction of the night and started to come in through where you're seeing from the camera this way this is going to form a wind tunnel so just be aware of that bitty bags and things are great for kind of protecting yourself in the wind because you gives you that that bit of wind proofing on your sleeping bag o your blanket or whatever you using so just be a bit where of that well there you go this is the ground tarp set up for you now we're going to be doing a few videos on different tarpaulin setups this is the most simple one which is why we started with it but we're going to look at some free standing ones in the coming weeks as well so please keep watching guys thank you very much
