Our culture encourages us to sell our life for money -- I know, because I did it for many years. But we can break free, and "make a living" doing something that we love. This is my story of starting small and building a wilderness school. Use the comments to share ideas and stories of how this can be done. Don't be shy if you've done it -- tell us your story! you know I figure that there are plenty of forces in your life that are telling you to do the sensible thing so today I'm gonna suggest something that's not very sensible and this is my this is my workspace back here this is where I go to work in the woods and my days are filled with working with students with getting to explore the forest harvest wild edibles practice my skills honed my body on my mind I'm not saying this to brag I'm saying this because I want to encourage you you who are watching this right now to know that you can do the same thing and I don't mean you have to run a wilderness camp but I mean that you can do something for work that really thrills you and fills you with passion

I worked a lot of jobs in my life spent time in factories where I couldn't see daylight for 810 hours at a time and that just never felt right to me I was trading my life energy for her money and we're told that that's that security does that make sense but to me you know living out this this human life and feeling like here's my chance here's my life to live didn't make sense to me a lot of who we consider to be the most successful people in our life in in our culture in our world that we see you know they're people that have they've thought outside the box they utilize their innate creativity and they've paired that with courage and they found a way to live a life that excites them and you you have this you who's watching you have the creativity it takes and you have the courage it takes if you're working in a job where you don't look forward to going into work were you doing something that when you think about does this when I go to work does this contribute to the world in a really positive way if you're not filled with that feeling when you go to work it doesn't excite your passions it doesn't feel

integrities to your way of living then you're gonna feel like you're selling yourself every day and that's not going to feel good and it's not going to make you blossom in the way that you can in this life

and here's the thing I know you can do it I know that if you sit down and you devote a day to it and you really think about it you think what is my passion in life and how can I make some money doing that or make it into my my life way in the example of a wilderness school it can start really small and simple you can print out a flyer that says come and learn how to start a fire with flint and steel have the date twenty dollars per person put it up in places around town if you get one person then you get some teaching experience and you planted that seed and you've started to create something and it doesn't cost a thing right just the paper and in the effort that it took to make that flyer and print it you can take the things that you know the skills that you have you can share them with the world and people will happily give to you in order to receive those things I've heard some people say well we can't all be chasing our dreams right who's going to who's gonna work in those factories and and make our cars and make the widget this is not you know not everybody in the world is going to watch this video and run with it this this message is just for you again the person that's watching right now it's just for you and it's just me saying that I'm not anything special I'm not the brightest guy in the world I'm not the most skilled bushcrafter or outdoorsman in the world but I did muster up the courage to get creative to put out that little flyer to just start and now I have the job of my dreams and I get to do something every day that feels good to me I feel like I'm contributing to the world in a positive way and and I get to be out here and again I can do it you can do it if you would like to share your dreams your passions in the comments and tell me what-what you would create in the world if you could I think we can all encourage each other to go for it so just give it a try if we try and fail hey we can try and fail again and again and again but if we never give it a try man what we might be missing go for it I know you can do it
