Cultivating Determination
Description
Determination often isn't stressed in our culture, but a little of it can go a long way. A man's journey to start a fire with a hand drill inspired this video about cultivating determination. Check out Dustin's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkrPJNFVf0n-zI0ljzlMDbg

greetings my friends I am on an adventure today with my friend and co teacher at Rewald university dustin i know some of you have probably seen my face book heard about his youtube channel that he started now put a link at the end of this video so you can check it out he has been inspiring me lately with determination and determination is this this human quality that often isn't stressed in our culture this life becomes easier and easier and easier for us we start to want quick and easy results so often we don't strive for something in all of us so yeah I know you all of us we have things in our heart that really would fulfill us but there's probably voices in your life saying don't go after those things you know do what's safe and secure and do these things that are there's a route that's well laid by the people before you all you have to do is walk in that route and these are the sensible things to do with our lives they are not sensible things like starting your own business or trying to start a welding to school you decide you want to become an artist and just like give your art to the world these things they're not the things that make sense right and that's because most of the world has not developed this attitude of determination determination says it's okay for me to fail you're failing I grow you're failing I learn you're failing I become stronger more resilient instead we're told you could try this thing but you're gonna fail so don't even try it a lot of us weave in taken that lesson we've made it part of ourselves because it's just not other voices saying go for it be determined well I just wanted to share Dustin's story today because he's down there with a video camera in the valley and he is trying for however many a--the time to get a handrail out here in the woods now if you've ever done friction fire you know it's it's one thing to get it in your garage or on your deck where there's very controlled conditions but to do it out here in the woods there's a whole different story and the first one he filmed and he failed at it and since then he's been trying and trying and he goes out again and again and he sets up his camera and he tries to get that ember and then get a fire going he's gonna try again today and I haven't asked him but I'm gonna sneak some peeks for you and I so we can watch and we can see if he's successful you can see the real video on his channel if you want but I wanted to share this because it's just inspired me yeah it's not that he hasn't hit frustration definitely it's not that he hasn't had those thoughts of oh why do I keep trying but he does keep trying and you can do the same thing with that thing that's in your heart you can rock the world and that's what I'm gonna ask of you today can you do this thing that's in your heart can you say you know what I'm gonna start putting effort towards this and I give myself full permission to fail not just once I give myself full permission to fail 30 times that does not mean I have failed if I fail 30 times it means I'm growing each time
I've learned lessons some things yes will give up we've tried our best and it's okay to say you know what I've given it my all but this is currently beyond me and then to wait for a different time in your life or perhaps to move to other goals but if we're giving up after we've failed once or twice of three or four or five or six times then we haven't really tried yet we've got to grow gotta try we've got to have that determination it's like trying to film a Bigfoot man I really want him to get this he's been trying so hard look at that smoke you guys he did it after so many attempts he did it he didn't give up and that's what determination can do for you check out Dustin's channel and give him some thumbs up he's doing some cool stuff on that channel as as he explores his rewilding journey it's just it's very personal
you know unedited nothing flashy it's really just following him along on his revolving journey share where in your life you've been wrestling with exploring determination what his determination got you in your life that you wouldn't have if you hadn't had that determination where could you use more determination in your life and how do you personally harness determination and get yourself to try again after you have failed thanks for watching my friends can't wait to hear what you have to say in the comments please like share and as always I'm so grateful for those of you who stand beside me on patreon if you would like to become a patron and help me to create these videos there'll be a link at the end of this video thanks much
