hello everybody welcome to survival Russia in this video I'm going to show you a fighting knife currently used by some of Russia's special forces branches life is called the smash 5 it also has a heritage from the Second World War like the Kaiba USMC has this dive comes from a knife called the NR 43 I can put a picture up on there now for this we here

but that's a little bit like a cool factor what you can say to this specific knife here is that you cannot just walk into any shop and just buy this knife there's two variants over there's a civilian model or a stun ski variant and there's a non civilian model and this is a non civilian model and it's a very very purpose-built dedicated fighting knife because in the Russian military you can say the knife is still considered and weapon they train knife fighting and they train knife fighting for purpose we also have been watching what's called a patriotic clubs for youngsters and so on there they will go through some some training courses are called K and B o can't be course amoled overbite sir which means lessons for the young warrior they will go through first hand-to-hand fighting then they'll go through knife fighting and then they will move on to regular weapons but enough of the talking I set the cameras up I would take a look closer look at the smash 5 here where we have the knife in the sheath and since we have it in the sheets that starts with the sheath it's a leather sheath relatively thick leather is riveted to points stitched what's a little bit special about this see there is it has four attachment points you can see there's one here that's a ordinary belt loop here then we have two more loops here that you can pass a bill through and the this is simple leaf or you can carry it in different ways like you can put your you can carry it on the belt here for example so Dwight's high so you are Hipple from a backpack will not get in the way you can strap it as described you can strap it to an arm just over two legs you can strap it to equipment and this is why we have all these different attachment points out comes a knife blade it is 15 centimeters long it should be 12 inches you can say it's a anti-glare treated so it will not reflect too much light anyway the hardness of the plate here is like 50 to 56 HRC which should be pretty ideal for lives as far learned the cross guard here is also anti-glare treated cross guard have some some grooves here for edit save to grips or your hands without slide when you are thrusting with it because this is what it's made for talking about thrusting alone always goes on the camera but you can see here's an angle slopes this way here's an angler sloping that way and I'll here is yet another angle sloping this way

this knife is specifically made for thrusting slashing and all the stuff these angles makes it easier for for the knife to penetrate through you can say heavy whipping uniforms even soft body armor and so on because of the blade itself is not that thick it's three point six millimeters 0.15 inches the steel is called 50 X 14 MF as far as I remember anyway I'll put a link in the description for the steel knives so they can look up the properties of the steel the 50 X 14mm steel is a special stainless steel which is a should be more this would be stronger and more flexible than regular tool steel the steel is used for all sorts of cutting instruments like surgical equipment and so so forth it has a really high corrosion resistance and the pitting resistance also so it should be pretty nice teal but more can we say about the blade the grind here seems to be a little bit steeper than the normal 20 degrees but the life is pretty sharp and I wanted cutting a piece of paper doesn't tell you a whole lot of weld with how sharp the knife is and so on but the we'll try it anyway little difficult here in the windy weather but the this pretty sharp yeah this night if here as I say it's a fighting knife

it's a military-style fighting knife as you can see the cross guard is pinned forwards over here and up and down here and this is a cause for this little notches of course for breaking a wire and so on but it's also when you have it in reverse grip if you're not conflicts on be too irritating for your hand like if it was the other way around their cross guards they are mostly there for preventing you from sliding forwards on the knife when you're thrusting at something they are of course also they also took to block another knife in a knife fight but you have to be an expert knife fighter to actually use a cross guard for this purpose we can move on to the grip see a little bit for the grips are makes from something they called thermo elastic plastic I don't know if it's actually is a plastic because it feels much like a rubber while I still remember we can also can also say that the there's another variant of this knife with a classic stag leather handle that's the only difference but then the grip feels really really nice to say it feels like a very very hard wood robber and it it doesn't snag or is irritating anywhere I mean this is a very nice comfortable grip the knife is full tang it's pinned through the pommel generally a very very nice fighting knife the knife including sheath weighs 308 grams without the sheath it weighs 234 grams the 308 grams is ten point eight ounces and 234 grams is 8 point something else I don't remember

of course the knife is a military-style fighting knife but the as you can see it can certainly cut wood as well I'm sure that this clip point here would be fine for drilling holes in something if need be

yeah so even the Smurfs 5p of course is a very purpose-built military style fighting knife it can of course - most knife tasks thus like most knives can but knives are course in general very very purpose-built instruments and some to beta on some tasks and others of course and there anyway as I say the most like is got fish and do whatever fine tasks and the fine light knife so I would not have any problems bringing it on the trip for example there are many fighting knives related to the Russian military and FSB and so on and I see if I can get my hands on some of them and review them I'm not a professional knife review if nothing else I'm anyway a semi-professional knife user and that should go a long way but anyway I hope you found the knife interesting and the video interesting and please check the links in the description always check the links in the description and also subscribe and they always share my videos I would do and like them I would really appreciate that of course and as always until next time get out and train get it done and see you next time here in Russia
