Hi, my name is Lilly and I like spending time in nature to practice my survival and bushcraft skills. This is a holistic survival channel which means that I also do videos about prepping and urban survival. This is not a purely primitive survival channel. Sometimes I use modern tools which people might have at hand in a real survival situation. Also all of my videos are pre-recorded, which mean that they do not get released immediately after I film then. That is why seasons in the video can differ from actual seasons. Thanks for watching ~ Survival Lilly

hi guys my name is Lily and today I want to show you three knots that you might need in the zombie apocalypse stay tuned [Music]
[Music]
first not that I want to show you which you actually can use in the zombie apocalypse is the Alpine butterfly not now I'm a pretty big fan after Walking Dead and actually they have shown this not in the serious which I found pretty cool let me show you the scene shortly where she makes the knots cross it over your hand like that they take the top blue bring it down up and back through then in the scene you can't really see how she really makes enough so today I want to show how to make the knots in detail okay so here we have our rope and the first thing that you want to do is you want to take a bite into the rope like this and then you want to twist the pile so that you have a loop and make sure that you make it big enough so that you can fit in a hand or a foot and next you want to make a second loop like this in the same direction now you have loop number one and loop number two and the next thing that you do is you take loop number two and fold it over above loop number one now it looks like this and the next thing you need to do is you need to go through the two loops with your hands and then you take loop number two at the top and you just pull the loop through
like so so this is the Alpine butterfly not which is pretty awesome and you can use it for a lot of things for example in a serious to walking that they have used it as an emergency letter so you can clamp up and clamp down the rope if you make enough of these loops which is pretty cool and because I'm such a big fan of the walking dead the guys from next games have asked me to play their game which is called the walking dead no man's land so let's take a quick look at the gameplay first of all you start out with a basic camp and from there you can you know build buildings like farms or tents you can upgrade your players you can train your players and first of all you start out with Derril which is my favorite character from The Walking Dead but you can also get negan which is my least favorite character and if you follow the link in the description and if you download the game by the end of October you will get negan for free so that's pretty awesome now you can go on missions with your team mostly you play with free players the new version of no-man's-land has also some several new improvements and a new game mode which is called the distance the distance is a biweekly event and heroes and survivors carry the damage over from one to the next mission so usually the healer after every mission but with the distance they don't so it's a little bit more difficult and the players need to do their best to survive the distance if you take the challenge there are some cool rewards that drop each time that the distance event occurs yeah they're walking that no-man's land is pretty cool and I got hooked after the first minute I played it because I really dig survival games and as I said you can find the link in the description where you can download the game for free the alpha and butterfly knot is a pretty cool knot but actually it's pretty hard to climb up a rope like this so now I want to show you another knot which is called a constrictor knot which you can use for a better emergency letter so for it is not you will need a stick and it should be a thick stick which doesn't break if you step on it and it should be fairly straight which is not the case with this one here but it's okay it will do the trick when I show this knot and this is how you makes it constricts or not so you take your rope and then you make a loop like this and another loop in the same direction and then you put the second loop behind the first loop like so and you stick through your stick and actually if you look at this knob here this is called the clove hitch which is a pretty good knot but it doesn't really hold the the words the piece of wood in place so now the next thing that we have to do is we take our tag end and we stick it through this loop here at the opposite side and this is now that constricts or not which is enough that doesn't sleep anymore as opposed to the clove hitch and you can put as much of pressure on the stick as you want you can step on it it doesn't sleep anymore and that's the important thing
so now you can for example add several sticks to the rope and make yourself a letter the constrictor love is a pretty good nut if you are already on top and if you want to attach the letter on top to go down or to climb up but what if we are not up yet and what if you have to go up and for that we need some kind of hook so we can throw up the rope onto a rock or onto a big wall so we can get over the wall and for this we need some kind of hook that looks like this this should be a grappling hook but actually in real you should use screen boats so this one here is dead wood and it's a little bit too unstable to actually use it as a grappling hook but it will do fine for the demonstration so usually you cut off the branch here you take a green green wood so it doesn't break green wood is more flexible than dead wood and it needs to be quite fixed so it doesn't break one side needs to be thinner which is the hook and one side needs to be longer which is just the end of the grappling hook so we take our rope here and we just go over the stick one two three times then we come back from underneath the stick and we go over the rope that we came from first we go over the rope and then we go over the stick again three times so that's one two and three and that's the plastic nut here which closes and a chance on the Underwood here as you can see it doesn't move even if I pull very hard it just sticks to the same place on a stick and when there's no tension on the plastic we can also move it a little bit upwards to stick so we have a little bit more security when it fits a little bit that we don't slip off the stick here off the grappling hook and now you can climb up the rope and as you can see the plastic nuts doesn't move it's important that you don't do it the other way around so the tag end has to be on top of the grappling hook the tech ends shouldn't be down below here because otherwise the knot meit's deform a little bit okay so the longer end where you climb up the rope should be lower and the tag end should be up that's important let's test another as you can see the novice holding but grappling hook unfortunately broke off so as you can see it's pretty important that you use a fixed acquit screen which doesn't break on your weight so that's very important and you should really try out this grappling hooks before you actually put your weight on it so last but not least I want to say that you have to do the knots that I showed in this video the right way because otherwise you can suffer from severe injuries for example if you don't use the right not for for the grappling hook or for the emergency ladder you can suffer you can fall from from your climb and you can suffer from severe injuries or it can end even fatally so please make sure that you know what you are doing that you know what knots you're using and if you are a kid under 18 don't do this at home alone always ask your parents I want to thank you for watching and stay tuned till next time [Music]
