Hello my name is Lilly and I am making videos about primitive living skills, survival, bushcraft, camping gear and prepping. I consider myself being a modern hunter-gatherer who wants to live as close as possible with mother nature and right now I am in the process of learning how to live off the land and thrive in the wilderness. Thanks for watching ~ Survival Lilly

Video Transcription
hi guys today I want to show you some trees which can help you in a survival situation stay tuned yeah guys so the first tree that I want to show you is the birch tree and we have an example right here this is the silver birch pet lavendula which grows in europe and the great thing about the birch tree is that it has oils inside of the bark so if you are in a survival situation and let's say for example you can't get a fire going because you don't friend to right tinder this is the tinder that you are looking for it's burning so hot even when it's wet yeah the leaves look pretty distinct let's see if I can find a leaf here at the ground there you go this is the leaf of the birch tree it has somewhat of a triangular shape with serrations at the edges you can use the leaves to make a tea out of it it is theoretic and it can help you if you have problems with your kidney or some kind of infections in the urinary tract
you can also extract birch oil out of the bark so if you are searching for an organic paint this is a great alternative the back of the birch tree can also be used to make boxes or for example the indigenous people of North America made canoes with it and you can use that bark to make shingles for your roof for your shelter so yeah birch is a pretty good tree and it has a lot of uses for survival so if you manage to find a birch tree in a survival situation this can be a lifesaver the next tree that I want to talk about is this one here this here is the spruce tree in this case we have the Norway spruce picea obvious and spruce is great for survival because it is a resinous tree it contains a lot of resin with resin you can do a lot of things you can make candles out of it you can make torches
can make spruce pitch glue the identification of the spruce tree is pretty easy it has short needles with a pointed tip and they grow all over the twig except at the underside the bark is a little bit brownish and a good thing about spruce trees is that the branches at the lower part of the tree are usually dead and you can use them a cinder material for your fire Bruce roots are great for cordage making actually they make one of the best natural cordage chests and you can use the roots for making cordage for your bow drill that works very well I have to say
the wood of the spruce trees is of medium softness and it's it's burning pretty fast and it crackles a lot because of the resin sometimes you're lucky enough to find some fat wood which is great and helps you with fire making and there's one more thing to say about the needles of the spruce tree they contain a lot of vitamin C so if you're liking vitamins in the wilderness you can make yourself a nice spruce needle tea okay the next tree that I want to talk about is the oak tree like this one here and when it comes to identification of oak trees it's not so easy anymore because there are a lot of species all over the world and a lot of hybrids but in general the leaves look all quite the same pleasecome loped and yeah some leaves look a little bit different but in general you will be able to recognize an oak tree okay now why is an oak tree important for survival first of all it's a very hard wood so it's great for fire it burns very long and hot and the wood is very heavy and dense and the Vikings have used it for their longships because that's exactly what you need when you're building a boat you want to have heavy and dense planks one of the general properties of the oak tree is that they are high in tenants for example in wineries they make barrels out of awkward because they want to have the tannins in the wine which gives them a better structure and you can use the bark of the oak tree to make a solution for tanning Heights for example you can use the bark to make a tea and you shouldn't drink the tea but you can use it externally for example if you have some kind of eczema or ulcer some kind of skin problem and the next thing that you can do you can eat the acorns but first you have to process them and get the tenants out by cooking them several times but after processing them corne to make a very good survival food to have a lot of nutrition a lot of vitamins a lot of minerals acorns can really be a lifesaver if you don't have anything else to eat yeah guys so these were free trees that you can use in any kind of survival situation don't underestimate the power of trees they can really help you out so I want to thank you for watching please subscribe to my channel if you want to see more and I really have to go home now because it's so fucking cold ok bye
